In the darkness of his room, Rob Lucci concentrated on his mirror.
Although his body was present, his mind was moving through the realm of ideas. His hands moved automatically, following the instructions of his omniscient mind.
His mana seemed to weave a new reality.
"Just a little longer, I'm almost there, I'm creating an artificial planeswalker spark."
What he didn't know was that his action would turn Magic's own Multiverse upside down and lead to a cascade of unpredictable events.
"let there be light!"
An overflowing energy permeated the entire Ravnica plane, and even more so, the other planes separated by the Blind Eternity were impacted.
It was a power that had been lost for millennia, a power that transformed a mortal into a veritable god, a spark of the original planeswalker.
In the original continuity, any magician powerful enough could become a planeswalker.
Even non-planeswalker magicians familiar with two adjacent planes could travel from anywhere in one to the other.
Planeswalkers possessed incredible magical abilities, surpassing all but the most powerful mortal sorcerers.
Their lives could last indefinitely, and their physical forms were a matter of will, for they were energetic projections of a center of consciousness.
With intense effort, Planeswalkers could create their own artificial planes.
Because of their prolonged longevity and immense power, some were worshipped as gods; many eventually lost their minds, or at the very least came to despise mortal life.
The new generation of Planeswalkers no longer displays the near omnipotence of its predecessors.
While the Planeswalker offers broader experiences and better learning opportunities, most Planeswalkers are no more powerful.
They are still physical beings who generally age normally, can be injured and need the same food as other mortals.
They can no longer carry other people when Planeswalking.
They can take their clothes and a few small items with them, but not food, for example.
This is in stark contrast to previous Planeswalkers. Some have managed to remove or circumvent some of these limitations by magical means; however, these are specific to each Planeswalker.
The new race first manifested itself in Venser d' Urborg , a Dominarian artificer who helped resolve a Dominarian temporal crisis.
The first theory of Teferi Akosa, a Jamuraan who studied at the Tolarian Academy, was that the rifts had mutated Venser's spark, affecting his ascension.
The new race was born during The Great Reparation, a process that healed the Multiverse, and Dominaria in particular, of the damage caused by the accumulated temporal rifts, thanks to the sacrifice of several Planeswalkers.
When Jeska sacrificed her life and her spark to repair all the temporal rifts in the Multiverse (such an act on such a scale was probably made possible by her former existence as Karona , incarnation of Dominarian magic, and by the fact that Dominaria is the Nexus of the Multiverse ).
The Reparation altered the very rules of the Multiverse and the nature of the Planeswalkers' sparks.
It brought about a fundamental restructuring of the nature of travel between the planes of the Multiverse, preventing many types of travel that had previously been possible; it also rebalanced the power of a Planeswalker's spark, permanently diminishing the power of all current and future Planeswalkers in the Multiverse.
All this has been going on for millennia, right up to the present day.

*shudder* *shudder* *shudder*

Freyalise: "Huh? Where does this ancient power come from?"
Jeska:"..."
Karn: "This strength brings back memories"
Nicol Bolas: "This power, it looks like it was mine before this wretched mortal took it away from me."
Ugin: "What have you done now, brother?"
Tezzeret: "Did Nicol Bolas achieve his goal? No, it's too soon! So where did this come from?"
Ral Zarek: "HAHAHA MY HEAD! IT'S GOING TO EXPLODE! "
Jace Beleren: "Gatewatch I call for an immediate general assembly.
A new danger threatens the multiverse."
Rob Lucci: "listen to my voice sparkle, follow my will and take me to the Kaladesh plane!"
FLASH!!!
.
.
Moon, a huge moon attracts my attention, it's different from the moon on Ravnica.
A smile forms on my face, but as I stand up, it disappears.
"It seems I'm not on Kaladesh, so where am I?
???:" fresh meat"
???:" blood, new blood"
???:"human"
Voices come from the dark forest around me, then suddenly a figure rushes towards me at superhuman speed.
I hold up my hand like a pistol and place my finger on the creature.
"tusk"
*pan*
The power of the shot vaporized the creature's entire body, the others surrounded me and I fired more shots.
All these monstrosities were wiped out, but another came out of the shadows, my mind was still a little dazed, so I didn't notice it.
*splash*
A gleaming sword emerges from the monster's torso and reduces it to dust.
???:"What are you doing out late at night? Don't you know that vampires hunt at this hour?"
A pure voice seems to enter my mind; if I weren't an expert in mental magic, I'd have knelt down.
But I remain upright and observe this woman.
I can tell she wasn't human by the large white wings protruding from her back.
"Follow me, a church isn't far, you'll be safe there."
I nod and follow her, why refuse help and I could get more information about where I am.
"I thank you miss, could I know the name of my guardian angel?"
joked I, to lower her distrust and give me more information.
People talk more when they're laughing and at ease.
She turned her head, a slight smile on her lips.
"I've often been called a guardian angel, but not in this way.
You're not a human from this world, are you?"
Rob Lucci: "Exactly Miss, I landed on this plane by accident and I don't even know where I am."
"mmh I see, my name is Avacyn I'm an archangel and I'm the central figure of the Church of Avacyn, which has given humanity on this plane the faith it needs to fight for its survival.
My master created me to be able to push back the darkness of Innistrad and prevent the extinction of humanity at the hands of vampires, werewolves and demons on the planet.
My master has a power like yours, I'll take you to see him, he'll surely be able to help you.
But for now I must continue my rounds, the church is just over there you can wait for me in safety. "
