Divination

Not long after, 12 more lab members also gathered in the waiting room and awaited for lab access.

They didn't know each other's names due to government imposed restrictions for working under a deep hidden research lab. Each lab member has a code assigned to him but aside from every other lab member, there was one whom Ells knew by her name, 'Jean Roswalt'.

"Hi Ells, how are you? It's been 2 months."

Ellsworth and Jean were high school friends with Jean having a secret crush on Ellsworth. Jean even confessed her feelings to Ells but was rejected but she cares for his decision and is still friends to Ells.

She has dark red hairs with plump bright red lips. Her cheeks were moderate with an overall sharp and thin facial features. She looked stunning and many mistook her for being a Chinese celebrity.

"I am fine, How are you? More importantly, do you have any hopes for the divination tests.."

"So you really care for me till to this day, anyways the tests are positive for now. All we need is a test subj…..."

As they were having a conversation, the siren rang alerting all lab members to wear protective gears and sanitize themselves for the impending work.

"Test Subject…..? How about me? I always wanted to see what the future has in store for me.."

"That is a big fat NO! This is very experimental. We are not even confirmed if it is a safe procedure."

Ells ignored her and went to the changing room for wearing protective gear.

After arming himself from tip to toe, he went back to the waiting room in line with other lab members. After 10 minutes the doors to the lab were opened and they all entered one after another.

I really want to know what is my future. Ever since the celestial objects fell on Earth, everything is going down spiral. I have a daughter, a wife and she is also expecting a son. Ok then, it's decided. I will be up as a test subject.

Divination is a way to determine your future. The celestial objects that fell on Earth were meta-physical in nature. By studying them, the following laws were deducted.

1: Reality is 4D with 3 dimensions of space and 1 dimension of linear time.

2: Higher dimensions exists where one can go both forward and back in time, named 5D

3: Higher planes of existence that rule above the normal space time also exist. The best example were the celestial objects. Communication is impossible. Objects from this plane of existence can freely create other pocket realities and stretch time and space to infinity.

4: Not all celestial objects are this powerful but rather only a few of them exhibits such properties. Majority of them are just meta-physical altering the laws of nature.

5: Human heart is an evolving meta-physical organ through which anyone can communicate with the higher planes of existence using the celestial object of Highest Grade as a medium of communication. The limitations involving this technique were high and one could only see the divination in their dreams, not while they were awake. The reason is still unknown for why it is only visible in dream. The process was named 'divination' because peeking into the future was considered divine revelation.

He walked into the room that was filled with machines and automated gears. The floor was made out of white tiles with walls covered with thick layer of reflective and smooth white paint. The room was very large with a lot of free space and 6 desks in the middle spaced 1 feet apart from each other in a semi circle like position. He walked up to the head of lab and told him about his willfulness for being a test subject. They agreed and took him into the testing room which was only enough big for fitting 3 person inside with a single chair in the middle. They asked Ells to sleep and put on some machines over his chest and head. He didn't object to it and quietly sat on the chair waiting to sleep. After 10 minutes he sleeps and wakes up to find himself in complete darkness.

Where am I? And I was sitting on a chair. Why does it feel like I am floating in the air? Why does it feel like there is no air here too?

He screamed.

"Hellooooooo?? Issss Anyoneeeeee thereeeeee???"

"Why is it so dark?"

"Where am I?"

He was very scared to the point of going mad when suddenly he sees a bright red star glowing out of no where. Then it is followed by a huge planet that did not look like Earth.

"What is this place? It doesn't look like my planet!"

He then sees another bright red star but when he tried to see the star his skin boiled and split apart atom by atom each one gaining its own life and started walking on his head, gathered into a humanoid figure which then split to thousands of small humanoid figures that started prostrating the star in fear. The blood that gushed out also gathered into a lump that took humanoid form and split into thousands of small humanoid figures that also started praising the star. Ells screamed in agony and pain. When he moved his gaze from the new bright red star to the planet, he sees that the planet was turned to dust and completely destroyed.

"Is this the future?"

Just after that he sees billions of stars lighting up in the cosmos each one gazing on him. His entire body was shaken and started decaying. It first split into thousands of parts each one prostrating to different stars and then turned to dust. Ells felt extreme fear and pain which was beyond imagination. Just like that, his entire body was turned to dust and he wakes up from his dream.

He started screaming on the top of his lungs and many people barged into the room putting off the gear from his head and chest and dragging him out of the room.

Right after that Jean comes to his aid and hugs him saying

"Relax! It's just a dream. You are here with us."

After 10 minutes when Ells gain some sense of clarity, he stands up and speaks.

"I think I had a nightmare. There isn't much to worry about. Sorry if I caused anyone some trouble."

Jean watched him with pity as he walked out of the facility towards the parking lot to get his car.

After sitting in his car, he didn't start it and sat there thinking deeply with one question in his mind.

What was that? Why did it look and feel so real? The pain, the agony, the screams, the sight everything was real. Is this really my future?

He didn't pay much mind to it and shove that thought away as a nightmare. Drove his car out on the the road to take his wife from her parents house.
