Chapter 9 - Student Future Event

Leo was now seated in a carriage heading toward the academy of Lewania. A place with future knights and mages who make legacies. Though it was for talented places Leo had also once gone there when he was a kid. He wasn't talented so the place felt suffocating with pressure.

Leo looked out the carriage where saw the lands and grass roll away from his sight. The speed of the horse was almost as fast as a car going 50 kilometers. As each second passed Leo got bored. After a few minutes he started to turn his attention to the stopwatch he was holding tightly in his fist. 

It was the place where he met Gelwain. He softly said the name and the back of the stopwatch retracted the metal making a hole. There he was sitting on the edge of the hole, his left leg falling over.

"Hello Leo"

"You too Gelwain"

Gelwain then made a weird expression.

"Hey, my name is not Gelwain it's William"

Leo had a puzzled expression.

'Is this..dementia?'

"Alright William"

'Is he really the same person, does he take weird substances?'

"I would like to know about anything you know about eclipse"

Willaim chuckled, covering his mouth.

"Aren't we getting straight to the point? Don't get hasty"

"Well, even my knowledge of many millennia's is limited on the organisation Eclipse"

"But to my memory it started twenty years ago. The leader had black hair and red eyes…"

Leo then pauses at William's description. Black hair was similar to the one at the clothing store. His mind turned frantic but he appeared calm.

"They worship someone called the God of Eclipse, a medium of the sun and moon, I presume."

"Also be careful of how you use what I share with you now. The leader of Eclipse is the adopted son of Arnheim, the kingdom's knight"

Leo's eyes widened. He remembered the name Arnheim. He was one of the kingdom's greatest knights who can go head to head with a dragon but after his wife and child had been murdered he fell into despair not being capable of his duties for a year.

'If he was there with Ben….'

"That's all I know"

Willaim said, raising his arms as if he was surrendering.

"Is this information reliable"

"Oh, yes all of it"

Leo then started to contemplate all the things he had just heard. Black hair was what the employee had. If the leader of Eclipse had visited it..Wait! His brain had an insane discovery.

"Does their symbol have a waning crescent and three stars near it?"

Willaim nodded. This means Edward's whose sheath had the same symbol was from Eclipse! Meaning the mage tower was an enemy of Eclipse. Leading to multiple disasters such as the one he had just faced a few days ago. Just handling one was an endeavour but with more to come he felt doomed.

"Could well….ummm tell me about dragons?"

"Yeah, sure. From my memory there are strong and prideful beings who do whatever the desire. They justify their actions based on power"

"There are a few main dragons to watch out for. First the Daylight dragon from Eclipse. The Volcanic Dragon near Aszodium, and especially the sleeping dragon from Fuldtion"

"He is said to be near the power of gods. He has the blessings of every single angel beneath the Goddess of Earth. Being able to possess all elements to their extreme like stopping time, going as fast as light, speeding up time, and inhumane strength able to crush a continent with just clawing the earth"

"Also the secret about him is that he has no mana nor physique to boast about so he asked for blessing from angel to angel. I truly pity him"

"Wow, a dragon with no mana but is this powerful"

He then wondered about the red dragon who could transcend memories. He was eager to find his strength but Willaim hadn't mentioned him. 

"To me the fascinating part of this world is Fuldtion"

"It's formation really makes me wonder how it happened also the many things there as well" 

"Wait, you have been to Fuldtion!"

Leo's curiosity surged in delight of new information.

"Well, I have wandered around there near the Mystical age so yes"

"Are there some things you can tell me"

William then went deep into thought then laughed.

"Ahh, yes. So the place was just like human villages just varying in size and necessities. They also had a trading system. But if you ever go to Fuldtion you should be prepared to go to the Undead tower"

"It was made by dark elves using dark mama which can kill living beings unless they have immunity to it. Quite disgusting the trials were a drag as well"

Then Willaim went back into his stopwatch, closing the hole. Leo sighed. This journey was going to be tiresome.

Leo blinked his eyes as he woke from a deep nap. His eyes shone brightly under the morning sun. He should be arriving at the academy any moment now.

He tapped his thigh each second with such a pace his fingers got bored after a minute. 

Knock. Knock.

Finally he arrived at the Academy of Lewania. His door was then opened by a butler his parents had hired. He gracefully stepped out walking through the front gates of the academy.

By the time he had arrived everyone was still in their dorms yet ready for the upcoming day. The Student future event decided students' futures. First years can get sponsorships, second years can intern, while third years can fully leave for their job. In the third year you can fully graduate. 

But for Leo's sake he decided only to invest in second and third years as sponsorships could be revoked depending on the students interest. For now he would need to meet the Headmaster Lewis Von Raiban. A renowned mage across the continent.

He would need to make some small talk, ask his permission to be able to enter the event, legal issues, and a bit of information. This conversation could prove very useful to Leo because he could get information on his brother or shave hours of his decision of who to pick for jobs and internships.

'With recommendations from the Headmaster he could save hours, and maybe save his life'

He walked toward the halls of the academy trying to get to the Headmaster's office. From Leo's memory it must be a few flights of stairs away. After taking countless steps Leo had finally arrived at the Headmaster's office. Leo grasped the doorknob and knocked.

"Come in!"

He heard someone say. He then opened the door to see a man with bright red hair in a ponytail made him look like a girl but his face said otherwise. He looked young but it was just an illusion he made to make him look better.

"Ah, you must be Leo Vlaniz, President of the Mage. Pleasure to meet you!"

Leo bowed his head slightly. He had learned basic etiquette from many books so he can stay respectful at most social events without creating more problems. He then walked toward the Headmaster's desk sitting on the chair to his right. Leo then quickly fished out a document from his pouch and handed it to the Headmaster.

"Headmaster, here is the original copy of the application. I await your signature to enter the Student Future Event"

The headmaster gazed down at the paper studying it carefully with his keen eyes. He then smiled and placed his elbows on the desk and criss-crossed his fingers. 

"I will sign it in due time, or maybe once you leave my office"

"I have a question. How was your investigation on who attacked Gotia?"

"May I ask, why you are asking this because I can't disclose this information"

"Well, nineteen of our second years, and thirty of our third years have been working at Gotia over the weekends. They are now dead"

Leo's expression saddened. 

"I presume it was the secret organization Eclipse"

Leo said confidently. The headmaster's eyes widened. He contemplated his future decision. 

"Sir, in return could you give me some recommendations for the categories of alchemy, magical engineering, and a knight."

"Yes, I have three students for each of those categories. You can look over them for the next hour before the event starts"

"Thank you very much"

Leo picked up the papers and slid them into his pouch.

"If there is anything related to Eclipse the academy will be pleased to help you"

Leo smiled at the Headmaster. 

'He really cared for the students here, didn't he?'

"Also in addition to that information, I would say two knights have caught my attention. I will give a brief overview of both of them. First is Arthur, his master is a first-tier knight, and he is second in his class. One the other hand John is a noble, first in his class has attained experience in the frontlines"

Then the Headmaster finished signing the paper, rolled it up and put his seal on the paper. 

"I will take my leave then sir" Leo said slightly bowing.

Leo walked back to the guest lounge where other people will be choosing people for their own purpose.
