Chapter 29

"Yuuji, still as sharp as ever. Thanks for coming." Chris greeted him warmly, clearly relieved to see Yuuji and his team arriving as backup. After all, Chris had been the one to discover Yuuji's potential—he knew what the man was capable of.

"Chris, what's the current situation?" Yuuji asked, concerned about what Chris had gone through recently.

"Let me explain."

After hearing the details from Chris, Yuuji realized the course of events was playing out almost exactly like the game storyline he remembered. Soon, Chris would run into Jill and Wesker again.

"Chris, let us help. You and your partner are under too much pressure."

Chris nodded and turned toward his current partner—Sheva, the only character from the original team who had no major surprises tied to her.

"That would be a huge help. With your team here, we'll move much more efficiently."

Yuuji immediately gave instructions to his team, ordering the rest to return to BSAA headquarters with Chris's gathered intel. He, Sousuke, and Walnut continued forward with Chris and Sheva to explore the next sector.

On the way, they passed through an old oil field. When hordes of mutated zombie-bees began to emerge from all directions, Yuuji quickly realized that in reality, these creatures were far more terrifying than their in-game counterparts.

"Yuuji, don't get bogged down here. Push forward!" Chris shouted, blowing away a nearby enemy and weaving through the chaos.

"Understood." Yuuji nodded, carefully retreating alongside Walnut and Sousuke until they hit a locked gate that blocked their path. Sheva approached, preparing to pick the lock.

"No need. I got this." Sousuke stepped forward, sheathed his blade, then drew it in one clean, cold flash—slicing the iron gate clean in half.

"Whoa, impressive." Sheva blinked in surprise. She hadn't expected that kind of power.

"Of course. Yuuji's the one who recruited him," Chris added without slowing down.

Just then, a chainsaw-wielding zombie burst from the shadows and charged. Chris raised his weapon, but before he could act, Yuuji's shots rang out in quick succession. At the same time, Walnut blasted the creature from the side. Within seconds, the threat was neutralized.

"Yuuji, your team is rock solid," Chris said with genuine admiration.

"No, Chris—we're all teammates here," Yuuji replied.

After clearing the oil field and swamp, the group reached a hidden research facility.

"Can't believe there's a full-blown lab out here," Chris muttered, stunned.

But before they could enter, they were swarmed by lickers and zombies. Fighting their way through, they eventually confronted Wesker and Jill in a dark underground cavern.

"Wesker..." Chris whispered, eyes locked on his old rival—and Jill, his long-lost partner.

"I'm not here for you anymore, Chris," Wesker said coldly. His gaze shifted. "But you, Yuuji Navens. Our organization has been monitoring you closely."

"Wow, I must be important to get your attention," Yuuji said with mock enthusiasm.

"Hmph. Ignorant fool. Let me show you why," Wesker snarled, then teleported and launched a punch straight at Yuuji.

To his surprise, Yuuji blocked the hit. Wesker's eyes narrowed and he followed up with a barrage of lightning-fast strikes. Yuuji parried them one after another.

"Yuuji!" Chris made a move to help, but Jill intercepted him—and Sheva too. She shook her head, signaling that interfering now would only make things worse.

"Walnut, Sousuke—stand down. This is my fight," Yuuji ordered without looking back.

"You still have time to talk?" Wesker growled, spotting an opening. He landed a direct hit that sent Yuuji flying.

Despite the blow, Yuuji climbed back to his feet. He wasn't seriously hurt.

"Hmph. You're a priority target for the company. We'll meet again. For now, I've got business with Excella," Wesker said, retreating into the shadows with her. Jill remained behind.

"Don't chase him. Let's save Jill first," Yuuji said, moving quickly. With a burst of his own power, he tore off the control device from her chest and restored her consciousness.

With Jill stabilized, Yuuji assigned Walnut and Sousuke to escort her to safety. He and Chris, joined by Sheva, pressed forward.

Eventually, they reached a massive tanker where Excella had injected herself with a virus, transforming into a grotesque leech-like monster. It devoured corpses, growing ever larger.

Yuuji and Chris scrambled to escape, luring it into the interior of the ship. They found a rocket launcher and launched a coordinated attack, targeting Excella's vulnerable points. She finally fell under the explosive barrage.

Just as they caught their breath, Chris's communicator beeped. It was Jill.

"You'll need the virus suppressant to defeat Wesker," she said. "But I wasn't able to retrieve it."

"No worries—I've got it right here," Yuuji replied, pulling out a small metal case. Chris exhaled in relief. Yuuji had anticipated this moment.

Finally, they caught up to Wesker for the last showdown.

"Captain, let me take this one," Yuuji said, eyes firm and steady.

Chris looked at him and nodded. "Alright. Just remember—you're not alone."

"Thanks." With that, Yuuji stepped forward alone.

"Perfect," Wesker smirked. "Let's see what you've really got, Yuuji."

He dashed forward and kicked, but Yuuji anticipated the strike and blocked it. Wesker followed with a spinning roundhouse—Yuuji evaded by stepping back.

In an instant, Yuuji drew his pistol and fired.

"Hmm?" Wesker frowned. The bullet had slowed his regenerative ability.

"Hmph. Clever, but you won't hit me again."

Then, unexpectedly, Wesker pulled out a gun and started firing. His speed made it nearly impossible to dodge. Yuuji took several hits.

"Yuuji!" Chris shouted from the distance, preparing to intervene.

"Stay back, Captain! I've got this!" Despite the wounds, Yuuji's spirit remained unbroken.

"You're just human, and I have a gun. You can't win," Wesker taunted.

At that moment, a familiar voice echoed in Yuuji's mind.

"You need me, don't you?" said the shadowy figure of his alter ego—his inner power.

"Yeah. I can't dodge everything. I need you now."

"Then let's show him our true strength."

"Die, Yuuji!" Wesker fired a rapid burst.

But just before the bullets struck, Yuuji raised his hands in a unique stance—and reflected the shots right back.

Wesker teleported away, avoiding his own bullets, eyes widening.

When he looked back, Yuuji's form had changed—his coat now crimson red, his hair glowing white. His eyes burned gold.

"This is my domain now, Wesker," Yuuji said, standing tall.
