Chapter 19: Cradle of Echoes

The storm didn't come from the sky.

It rose from the ground.

Kael stood at the edge of a forgotten ravine—carved like a scar through the middle of the continent. The map called this place The Cradle of Echoes. Locals called it cursed. Haunted. Untouched for a thousand years.

But now, the wind whispered his name.

> "Kael…"

Again and again. A thousand voices, none his own.

He stepped into the mist.

---

The deeper Kael walked, the stranger reality became. Time twisted. Shadows looped.

He passed the same broken tree three times—but in each version, its leaves were different colors: green, silver, and bleeding red.

He gritted his teeth.

> "Illusion field," he muttered.

"Just like the Hollow Star."

Only this time… the voices weren't memories.

They were echoes of possible futures.

> "You will become him."

"She will burn for your choice."

"The world ends with your name."

Kael drew his blade.

The moment metal rang in the air, the mist thinned—and a figure stepped out.

---

She wore robes of starlight, skin pale as moonlight, and eyes glowing with crimson gold. Not the girl from the dream—but something far older.

> "The First Seeker," Kael whispered.

> "You carry the Flame of Seris," she said. "That makes you a threat."

Kael stood his ground.

> "Then try to kill me."

The First Seeker didn't move.

Instead, five more shadows appeared behind her. All wore different masks—glass, bone, bronze, vine, and smoke.

They circled him in silence.

Then, without a word, they attacked.

---

The battle inside the Cradle was unlike any Kael had faced.

Each Seeker fought using unreal techniques—reality-bending strikes, reversed time steps, silent cuts that screamed only after they landed. But Kael… was evolving.

The Forgotten Flame coursed through him.

The Shadowblood sharpened his reflexes.

And deep within, a voice began to awaken.

> "Unseal the Third Echo."

Kael's eye flashed.

He gripped his blade tighter—and split into two. A phantom of himself mirrored his movements, made of pure umbral flame. The battlefield trembled.

> "Impossible…" one of the Seekers hissed.

Together, Kael and his echo fought with perfect synchronization—dismantling the attackers one by one until only the First Seeker remained.

She fell to her knees, coughing silver blood.

> "You… are not the Dreamer…"

"You are the End."

Then she vanished into ash.

---

After the battle, Kael stood at the heart of the Cradle.

There, floating above a stone altar, was a shard of crystal—black and humming.

He reached for it.

The moment his fingers touched the surface, the world froze.

Time stopped.

Everything turned red.

> "You are close, Kael Ardyn," came a whisper behind him.

He turned—and saw the girl.

Not in chains this time. But free. Her crimson eyes filled with tears.

> "Don't awaken the Eclipse Heart…"

"If you do… you'll forget who you are."

Kael stepped forward.

> "Who are you?"

She vanished.

And the crystal burned into his palm.

---

Far away, the Mask of Origin screamed.

> "The Cradle is broken. The Seals are failing."

"He's accelerating."

Behind him, an ancient door began to open—one that had not been touched since the Eclipse War.

> "It's too soon…"

---
