Levi placed the scale into the panel slot, and the moment the conversion rate appeared, both Panda and Evangeline froze. Their jaws dropped at the absurd string of zeroes that filled the display.
Conversion Rate: 5,000,000 Panda Bills.
Panda was the first to recover, flailing in protest. "Why am I only visible to the host?! If she could see me, with my cute and charming looks, I'd have her wrapped around my paw by now and we'd be swimming in cash!"
Evangeline stared at the panda speechlessly, too tired to even respond. But the panda wasn't done. "Hey, stupid human, why don't you use your looks to charm her instead? With her funds and your face, we'll be filthy rich! How about a fifty-fifty split?"
Evangeline ignored the comment entirely and turned back to Levi, who had just finished the process.
"Your conversion is done. You can take a look around, though we only have three products for now."
Levi nodded silently and walked toward the shelf while Evangeline sighed, glanced at the annoying panda, and returned to her seat. She casually picked up a mirror from the table and began combing her hair, brushing it gently as the light caught the strands.
Meanwhile, Levi stood at the shelf behind the counter, examining the contents. In the beverage section, she saw only bottled water and cans of cola. In the confectionery section, there was nothing but a tray of cream puffs. Her eyes shifted briefly to the walls and floor, the entire structure radiated something beyond comprehension.
Even her most powerful attacks, she felt, wouldn't leave so much as a scratch. Something was suppressing her abilities, though not entirely, she could still access part of her strength.
Without hesitation, she picked up one bottle of cola, one bottle of water, and walked over to the counter.
Levi placed the two bottles on the counter.
"I want these. Just for the taste. Can I purchase them?"
Evangeline nodded with a polite smile, processed the order, and handed over the drinks.
Levi opened the cola first and drank it all in one go without pausing. She didn't even flinch.
Evangeline stared, quietly waiting for a burp, only to be left disappointed when none came.
Levi, seemingly unfazed, opened the water bottle and drank it just as quickly. This time, however, a soft, charming smile bloomed on her lips. It was subtle, but it carried an unexpected warmth that caught Evangeline off guard, like sunlight breaking through frost.
Her skin was pale and smooth, her hair a deep, glossy blue that shimmered in the store's lighting. Her sky-blue eyes sparkled like polished crystal, and her red lips curved into that gentle smile without a trace of intent. The effect was effortless, and it hit harder because of it.
Evangeline blinked, her thoughts scattering.
No, what am I even thinking? I'm a woman, and she's not even human. Pull yourself together.
Even so, the question lingered. She copied my appearance. Is this how I look to others? No wonder those elves couldn't stop staring.
Shaking the thought off, Evangeline composed herself and asked,
"How was it? The taste, especially the water."
Levi answered with simple honesty.
"The water was delicious. I've never tasted anything like it. As for the black liquid, this cola, it felt like a weak kind of poison. Not enough to hurt me, but I didn't enjoy it."
Evangeline raised a brow.
"Water… delicious?"
She quickly recovered her composure.
"Well, our store only carries premium products. And we have contracts with several top-tier water companies. If you'd like, I can arrange to stock more of them in the future."
Levi's expression brightened instantly.
"Is that so? Then I'll take this one. Hmm… make it 100,000 bottles. Can you manage that?"
Evangeline nearly floated. A grin almost broke through, but she kept it under control, she was still on shift, after all.
She explained calmly,
"Our water stock is unlimited. You can take as many as you want, and your card will automatically register the amount."
Levi nodded and began pulling bottle after bottle into her storage space, moving with mechanical precision. Once she was done, she returned to the counter.
Evangeline smiled professionally.
"That will be 100,000 Panda Bills."
Levi paid without hesitation, gave a polite thanks, and exited the store with her haul, vanishing into the corridor beyond.
Left behind, Evangeline quietly danced on the spot, spinning with barely contained joy, while Panda, now perched on the counter, burst into a clumsy breakdance with full enthusiasm.
The panda placed its hand on the desk, stood up on its paws, and began spinning with joy. Evangeline watched this useless panda dancing and let out a small chuckle.
Evangeline: "Evangeline, you're going to be a rich woman now. Hahaha."
Ignoring the panda's strange breakdance, she looked at today's earnings. This was her last shift, which would end in two more hours, after which she would go home and rest.
Even though the house wasn't as grand as the place she worked in now, it was still the home where she had lived through three years of hardship.
And nothing else could offer the same feeling. It would always hold a special place in her memories.
Evangeline: "Well, I don't think anyone else will show up... unless it's a mermaid or another Leviathan swimming around."
