Chapter 7: One-Eyed Chief [Whimrat]

The wide passage led to various paths, and each path led to either more paths or dead ends.

Anvil found many [Whimrats] at dead ends and intersections. Previously, only one [Whimrat] was in a passage, but now they were in a group.

However, their size didn't matter.

For Anvil, more [Whimrats] meant more combat forces.

When he encountered a lot of [Whimrats], he became happy and filled with joy that he could have more soldiers who would protect him and fight for him.

Anvil's progression increased rapidly. In just an hour, he had explored almost all of the dungeon.

86 undeads covered Anvil from all sides.

Anvil didn't wish to get attacked from any direction; hence, he had all the undead surround him like bodyguards surrounding a VIP.

The undeads' states varied. Some had so few injuries, only massive bite marks on their necks; some had a lot of them dotting their entire bodies; and some didn't have flesh remaining, missing so much that more bones were visible than meat.

Their hollow dark sclera was the stuff of nightmares. They didn't produce any sound, and their movements, despite being smooth, had an unnaturalness to them, like a fluent puppeteer masterfully controlling their puppets.

Anvil reached a narrow corridor. It was so narrow that only one person could walk at a time.

Anvil fell into trouble. He couldn't have his undead move ahead, as returning would be a nightmare if this led to a dead end.

"Guess I have no choice." Taking a deep breath to increase his courage, he walked ahead, getting his army walking behind him.

The end of the narrow passage led to a door. It was a stone door; however, it looked simple.

Anvil gave it a push.

Rumbleeeeeeee!

With a loud rumble, the door opened.

Inside was an empty room. However, there was a big creature.

A giant [Whimrat].

It was bigger than Anvil. It was about 2m tall and had a wide body that three people could hide behind.

Its tail was thick, and as it was flailing around, it collided with the floor and wall. And with each collision, it produced a thud sound followed by a vibration in the whole room.

Its claws were longer and sharper. It had scraped a lot from the floor. The floor had a wide hole.

As Anvil entered the room, followed by 86 undeads, the giant [Whimrat] turned its head.

It had bright red eyes and a weird face. Its mouth was elongated, reaching 3 feet. It didn't have any nose, and its eyes were rounder and bigger.

However, it was missing one of its eyes. There was just an empty hole in its right socket. Since it didn't possess eyelids, it couldn't cover its hollow eye.

On top of its head, a text was floating.

[Chief Whimrat]

By its name, Anvil could guess it was the leader of the [Whimrat] pack.

"Well, I am not fighting you. Don't look at me." As the [Chief Whimrat] was staring intently at Anvil, he began sweating and stepped sideways, showing his undead army.

The undead army filled the room. However, the room was so wide that they could fit perfectly in half of the room.

On the other half was the [Chief Whimrat], who was staring at the whole scene.

Then suddenly, it erupted in an ear-deafening sound.

It was so loud, Anvil could feel the shockwave.

"All these sounds are going to make me deaf." Anvil complained, clutching his ears as they ached.

Blood dripped from them again, followed by a ringing sound echoing in his ears.

Thud! Thud!

The entire floor shook as the [Chief Whimrat] charged at the undead force.

Anvil suddenly spread the undead force to surround the giant. He then made them attack more from behind while the front acted as a decoy.

Boom! Bang bang bang!

However, the giant [Whimrat] was very strong. It threw the undead like a tennis ball.

Squeak!

Squeaking loudly, it swiped its claws.

Crack!

Cracking noises echoed as massive gashes appeared on the undeads.

Ten were flung right away, and another twenty suffered from the second impact.

However, many undeads climbed on the back of the [Chief Whimrat] and began biting and clawing its skin.

Sueeakkkk!

Strange screams erupted from its mouth like a volcano, which shook the land and walls.

It jumped high in the air and did a swift roll mid-air.

Undead clung as much as they could; however, not many lasted and fell down.

On top of them fell the [Chief Whimrat].

Boom! Crack!

Many undead were crushed. The black gases released from their bodies turned them into normal meat paste.

But some managed to hang on, and as the [Chief Whimrat] stabilized, they began clawing and biting again.

More undead joined in the fray and jumped on its body.

Chapter 7 (Continued):

Loud noise echoed in the room.

Anvil closed his ears tightly and cowered in a corner.

A shockwave from its landing or sound could injure him or, worse, kill him. Hence, he tried to stay as far as possible.

He hadn't checked how far he could stay from the undead, so he didn't run, fearing in the worst-case scenario all undead would be immobilized and crushed.

Without any assistance, Anvil could never dream of scratching that giant creature by himself.

The [Chief Whimrat] rotated, creating a burst of wind.

Undead hung on for their dear master and bit with all the strength they could exert.

However, all the undead jumped and ran away when the [Chief Whimrat] rolled on the ground.

But as it jumped and landed, undead swarmed on its body too.

With its claw, it managed to fend off some; however, more clung to its back and attacked it.

They attacked the same place, not randomly, so the accumulation of attacks created wounds.

And clawing that wound increased it.

Blood gushed out from the wound, followed by pain, which made the [Chief Whimrat] scream in agony and jump around.

The blood loss was increasing, which weakened it slowly.

Twenty, thirty, fifty…

The casualties of undead kept on increasing, but the [Chief Whimrat] was exhausted by all the actions since it couldn't catch a break.

And since the blood loss was great, its skin paled. The weakness made it sleepy, and it could no longer fend off the attacks from the remaining undead.

The undead continued to claw at its injuries, not letting the clot form.

And their tenacity finally paid off when the [Chief Whimrat] fell to the ground.

The undead continued to claw until Anvil was sure the [Chief Whimrat] was dead.

"Can I summon this thing?" Anvil stood from the corner and rushed to the corpse.

He looked at the dwindling number of Whimrats and felt a pain in his heart.

"My forces…" If the [Chief Whimrat] couldn't be summoned, then everything would be a waste.

However, his eyes widened and a large smile erupted on his face when he saw large amounts of black gas releasing from the corpse.

The amount of gas was so much that it covered the entire room.

Then came the problem.

"Ugh…" Anvil fell on his back.

"This is brutal." Every muscle on his body ached.

It was like pulling a block of iron by himself. It was impossible.

He couldn't even pull a small amount of black gas. It felt so difficult, as if he was literally pulling a rope tied to an airplane.

"Ha ha ha ha ha!" His breathing intensified as he used all his strength to pull the black gas.

He couldn't touch the gas physically. It was all through his willpower. He could control the black gas like it was his organ. However, controlling it consumed his energy and strength.

His muscles became sore and tense, as if he were physically pulling them.

Sweat drenched him.

However, he managed to pull the gas slowly…

It was too slow.

However, he didn't stop.

He took rest and pulled them again.

As black smoke flowed back to the corpse, the process became smoother. The heaviness decreased.

"Haaaaaaaaa!" With a long sigh, Anvil lay on the cold floor. From his head to toe, he was covered in sweat as if he had just come out of a bath.

However, he had a smile. He pumped his fist and punched the air. "Yeah! Yay! Hurayyy!"

He cheered, looking at the corpse that was pulsating.

"Phew!" He wiped the sweat off his forehead and stood slowly. "Ow ow ow! My body…" Every muscle on his body ached.

Even standing was painful.

After some minutes, the giant [Chief Whimrat] stood. Its darkened skin made it creepy, and its two hollow empty sockets were terrifying.

Anvil didn't mind, though. He was already used to it. He commanded the [Chief Whimrat] to lay down and climbed on its back.

The blood was already dry, and blood clots stopped the bleeding. He sat on its back.

The fur was soft, and it was strangely comfortable.

"Ok, now let's check my rewards." He opened his inheritance menu, which had notifications.
