Chapter 9: law!

Status! I muttered "hollowly" not because of the reality i faced,

But due to the toll it had taken on my mind, body and soul.

The blue screen materialised before me with tints of gold on it only of you paid close attention to it.

Reading the race section a small genuine laugh escaped my mouth,

Still a "Human" huh?

It reminded me i still remained, the boy who would quarrel with his sister and get angry on mum due to some stupid reason's.

What really shocked me was the erasure of affinity and addition of the "Vector law"

As the removal of potential limit was with in my calculations, but affinity erasure and addition of law, this was something different and out of my anticipation.

Reading the info of vector, i was genuinely shocked.

But this changes everything, i guess now i am closer to an actual start since coming to this world.

(Third person pov)

Just as Nex was returning home he saw an electronic's store the kind where you can still get usb drives in this era,

He didn't say anything when he walked into the store.

Just grabbed the first black pair of over-ear headphones that looked decent and didn't blink when the cashier tried to upsell him.

The moment he stepped outside again, he slid them on.

No music. Just silence. A barrier between him and the world.

His legs ached. His bones felt like rusted metal — twitching from strain and unnatural growth. The skin across his arms still bore faint lines where the transformation had torn him open.

The streets blurred as he walked home, every sound distant, distorted, hollow.

He didn't even lock the door.

He dropped his jacket. Kicked off his boots. Let his body stumble down into the bed.

And for the first time since waking up in this hell of a world —

He slept.

No rituals. No planning. No internal monologues.

Just a seventeen-year-old boy curled up on a creaking mattress, the faint hum of silence in his ears, the weight of his own body finally too heavy to carry.

---

When he slept, it wasn't peaceful.

His breath hitched sometimes — eyes twitching beneath shut lids.

Muscles flinched as if he were still fighting ghosts.

The Void Vault rattled, and memories clawed to be seen — but the seal held.

For now.

But sleep came. Real sleep. And it held him.

The world, for just a few hours, didn't ask anything of him.

No blood. No screaming. No vector to control.

Just dark.

Just breath.

Just… rest.
