The Dragons Of Aethelgard follows Princess Lara and her friend Eleanor as they uncover a conspiracy rooted in the history Lara family, the royal Ignis bloodline. After a magical ceremony reveals that her long-lost twin brother, Kaen, is alive, Lara is dismissed by the elders and her suitor, Lord Aric, as being "unstable" Lara, however, is a determined woman, driven by the powerful connection to her brother and the voice of her dragon, Draconia.
With the help of Eleanor, a powerful witch, Lara discovers that an obsidian shard, left behind after the ceremony, is a magical beacon designed to disrupt the academy's wards. This beacon is linked to a secret group called the "Crimson Oath" and a map of the realm's ley lines. The disrupted lines of power all point to a remote location known as the Shattered Peaks, a place of myth and untamed magic.
As Lara plans her departure, she is opposed by both the elders of her kingdom and her guardian, Jorik, who fears for her safety and the political fallout of her leaving. She is also being watched by Lord Aric, who, fueled by his own ambition, discovers her destination and follows her. Despite the dangers, Lara is resolved to find her brother, forcing Jorik to choose between his loyalty to the crown and his loyalty to her. With Jorik’s reluctant help, Lara and Eleanor begin their journey to the Shattered Peaks, ready to face whatever dangers lie ahead.
