Synopsis

William Carter, a nuisance streamer, met his end in a predictably stupid way and was offered a second chance by an overworked Lord of Death.

Reborn in a ruthless Xianxia world as Wei Chen, he has a new mission: to use his entire skill set and a divine streaming kit to reduce the realm's astronomically high death rate from constant sect wars, conflicts, and the number one cause of death.... the all-powerful "Courting Death."

Live on Stream:

Wei Chen: "If those so-called 'trash' underdogs were truly incapable of cultivating, why would every Jade Beauty in the province be obsessed with them!?"

Wei Chen: "Think, Young Master! Think!"

Young Master: T_T

Read as of Chapter 39/39 This is a very good and charming novel that I would highly recommend to anyone that is familiar with the cultivation novel cliches and wants to enjoy an easy to read fun novel and have a laugh. The author is very familiar with cultivation tropes and pokes fun of it, but without making it a parody. I prefer it this way, as it doesn't undermine the chinese cultivation genre itself even if it is plagued with stupid tropes. I was a little worried since it was a livestreaming novel, but thankfully it isn't bloated with audience reactions. The author appears to be taking care in making sure that only certain names are introduced in the livestream chat to say their word and these figures would have their role in the story. There is a overpowered tag and weak-to-strong tag which is certainly right. He has broken stuff, but he definitely can't just face anyone. Though, personally I would really prefer a more progressive power fantasy as it seems to lean on a more mindless side. But the author does have some smart ideas to mitigate and provide sense to some of the stuff and as a whole to the novel. For example, the black hole as his dantian which is broken but makes sense and how it can provide unexpected advantages like as shown during the secret realm, actually clever. There is also some things that could be foreshadowing, which is something else that I appreciate. Hopefully it is true. The MC himself acts like a teenager just enjoying his OP and being happy. Not anything special or unique, but I'm thankful that the author doesn't try to make him unnecessarily edgy, or cool in the sense of having to be perfect. Just go read all the other common novels for that. There is also no signs of AI which is also a big plus in the current webnovel space. Anyways, for the fellow daoists out there, give it a shot! It's on the light-hearted direction, so don't take it too seriously! Keep it up author, definitely something I wish to see popular. Sign a contract already, so this book can ascend. This backwater realm won't lead to any grand future! Make sure you have enough resources(back log of chapters), otherwise the tribulation may not succeed! ---------------------------------------------------------- SPOILERS for the Author*** I'm not entirely sure of how serious this novel would become, but I would prefer an overarching plot and have maybe an occasional serious plot. It's not necessary though, just something I'd wish to see in case if the novel ever reaches a stale point due to the premise it's trying to sell (since it's livestreams and the requirement of making the cultivation world at least more peaceful). My issue with novels like these is that it can get filler like which is fine, but my issue is when it becomes a slice of life atmosphere. A novel is more interesting when there are problems, mystery and new variables. Regarding characters... 1. Character art please!! For as many as you can. I'm waiting on Mo Xingyao! 2. Make the Heaven's Chosen people always relevant. They are people that Heaven's favor and the world can be said to revolve around them. At least with the one introduced so far, I would advise to always keep him relevant and having a great destiny. If it were me, I would use them sparingly but very impactful every time they appear, usually causing big incidents that can escalate or entire arcs. 3. Ximen Hao , make him a reoccurring character that is still embodies the trope but isn't someone to be killed. Just a personal wish of mine to see an arrogant young master rise along with the MC and be very relevant. Can be pretty funny, to see an arrogant young master as a side kick or something along those lines. Can even lead to great character development depending on how serious this story is. 4. Regarding the heroine Mo Xingyao, a love interest to my tastes which I appreciate, just wished that the relationship between MC and held more realism. It's a real nitpick considering the overall tone of the novel and so I shouldn't take it seriously, but since I'm an avid romance fan it's definitely not meeting my standards lol. They vibe well together, but there is some logic that is overlooked, but this pertains to all characters. Since this novel is tagged with harem, hopefully there will only be a very small harem. I usually prefer multiple love interests but single winning heroine. Considering how big the world is, take your time and no need to force. Very good work author!

As per tradition, the author's shameless review needs to be here. --- Author --- When you're reading the Xianxia or Wuxia story, have you ever thought Why the hell is this character so stupid!? That protagonist guy is just decimating someone 1 realm higher, and you still underestimate him!? WTF!? Me too, and this is the idea of the story: bringing common sense to the people living in the Xianxia world. Hello readers, Raven Claw here This is my third story. Please add this to your library, and if you like it, please write a review; that would help me a lot! Also, feel free to comment. I am always open to criticism, even if you want to vent; go ahead, so I can understand what frustrates you about the story. Just tell me the reason and not just like “Trash Trash Trash” for like 100 paragraphs. Thank you very much. Thank you very much.

Not bad, but with the wrong focus. This should be a stream novel type in a cultivation world, BUT it's not, it's a cultivation novel with an extra stream type, so yeah, disappointing, it's just more of the same for 80% of the time, then 20% of the real good parts (the streams), the author basically lost himself in the plot.

The story has great grammar and was doing really well in terms of development. But for some reason, authors tend to write mc’s with a lack of self respect or backbone, which ruins the story for me personally. Small Spoilers… … .. .. For example in this story, he is tricked by his supposed business partner/ally to act like her fiancé, without being informed beforehand or even being warned. This in turn pulls him into conflict and causes him to get injured, with the potential of being killed, yet the mc says nothing and acts all giddy about it. I think some frustration would have been valid but authors tend to glorify female leads, and make mc’s lack any sort of backbone or boundaries. Not to mention afterward she didn’t even apologize. While the story itself was really great, this aspect ruins it for me because I know to expect more repetitive behavior/actions like this. Where the female lead beats or puts the mc in a harmful situation, and it’s all funny, but I just find it strange. Some people might like it but I personally don’t.

The MC makes fun of cliche xianxia characters who have 12 year old intelligence, but is quickly and directly defeated by one in a battle of wit. He’s also a pushover who unnecessarily gave a percentage of his business to a female character who’s looks stuns him eveyone he sees her.

The most revolting thing about this novel is with that daughter of a demonic sect. An absolute pushover MC is irritating to read. Everything else is fine and funny but this character dynamic sucks out all enjoyment from reading the novel. No idea why the author thought this was a good idea. Tricked him to do certain things and still gets annoyed at him when he is making her a lot of money and connections. It is a truly awful experience to read through. Such a shame since the concept of the novel is cool. If you remove her character entirely it becomes a bare minimum of 4/5 novel.

this kind of xianxia is really the best kind i really like it and can’t stop recommending it. the only downside is it’s low chapters, but hey good things come in small chunks i guess

It’s not bad, but it doesn’t live up to my early expectations. His goal is to lower deaths, and yet he some reason only focuses on hyper specific issues that don’t matter to 99% of people in the world. In fact, at points it seems like he’s more focused on aggravating people than actually trying to solve anything. You’d think he’d at least spread information on sanitation to the non-cultivators(the majority of the population given that cultivation requires a rare spirit root in most settings), but he seems to have no intention on streaming to them. It definitely feels like the MC is constantly waisting his time.
