Synopsis

Having transmigrated to a Blue Star invaded by the paranormal, Chu He is the National Guardian War God who single-handedly guards the Demon Cave.

Several years later, the first Queen in the history of Great Jing ascends to the throne.

She publicizes footage of Chu He brewing tea and reading books daily, criticizing him for neglecting his duties and putting him on public trial before the entire nation.

In a single day, Chu He becomes a public enemy.

The Queen selects twelve beautiful young women to guard the Demon Cave, replacing him.

Chu He laughs, offering no explanation.

His ice-queen CEO wife also chooses to divorce him, calling him a true disgrace, little knowing that everything she has today is thanks to his halo as the National Guardian War God.

In truth, Chu He has long been tired; living the life of an ordinary person is also quite good.

The Queen even gives a public speech: “Without him, we can still annihilate the Evil Spirits!”

“The Queen is sharp-eyed and discerning; otherwise, we would still be kept in the dark by this parasite!”

“The Queen is so beautiful! I am willing to lay down my life for you!”

As a result, the twelve highly anticipated young women are met with an outbreak of innumerable Evil Spirits the moment they arrive at the Demon Cave.

In the blink of an eye, corpses litter the ground.

The allied forces of Great Jing's experts assemble, only to be slaughtered with devastating ease!

“The one we fear is Chu He. You swine and dogs are worthy of suppressing us?” A horde of Evil Spirits swarm out, cackling wildly.

“Is it really impossible without him?” the Queen despairs.

“So the Evil Spirits of the Demon Cave are this terrifying! Chu He, we were wrong. Please come back, okay!” the populace breaks down.

……

“You said you could kill Evil Spirits without me, so why are you crying now?” Chu He says indifferently.

So, this story is ok, except for one glaring error that has driven a bunch of others that really drive this book down. That error is that the author made the timeline WAY too short. Demon Caves suddenly appeared all over the world 10 years ago and released 'evil spirits' that could be defeated but hardly ever killed, all over the place. This world has warrior cultivation, known levels bing 1-9 with a 10th, King, being the highest known. The MC was a child at the time the spirits decended and managed to cultivate to king and suppress all the spirits when he was a teen. They got pushed back into the demon cave to recuperate, and because no one else could handle it, he sat on the cave to guard it. Now, according to the authors timeline, even though the evil spirits had slaughtered many, many cities, killing millions upon millions of people, in less than 5 years, everyone ignores everything he did and turns on him... Also, the rest of the world also somewhat suppressed the evil spirits, but nowhere near as effectively as the MC, making the Great Jing Empire the most peaceful and prosperous in the world. 5 years, and because the old king died and his daughter, the first queen of the empire targets the MC to solidify her power, every single person he saved from extinction turns on him, in less than 5 years..... boggles the mind. I get that the author, for some reason, wanted to make the MC young (he's only 20), but there was ZERO need for that. The story actually would have flowed %300 better if the total timeline had been changed to say, 20 years of him sitting at the cave. That would have given enough time for the country to recover and the jealous scum to spread discontent after gratitude and fear faded. I say a total timeline of 30 years. 5 for the spirits to range about almost unfettered, another 5 for the MC to clear all the spirits back into the cave while others guard it under stress, and 20 years of him guarding alone while the Empire knows total safety. Almost nothing of the plot would have needed to be changed, and it would make soooooooo much more sense. Really, the only major changes would be that the author would need to give the martial artists at least a bit of longevity to go with their cultivation (I mean, it's really stupid that that doesn't really seem a thing for those below king....) and when he finds his family, his younger sister would need to be replaced with a niece for her crisis. As for his wife, she would need to probably be a little younger than him, rather than the same age, like 30 to his 40, but the current timeline makes zero sense to her situation anyway. They apparently married at 16 (after she went to the cave to prove her admiration of the hero, and no, he didn't actuallytouch her, because he feared he could die at any time), she went to and graduated college, then she founded a company that's one of the biggest in the country and has been at the top for years, but she's only 20? Just stupid. Then there's all the misogynist overtones that the queen is destroying the world with her nonsense because she's a woman, but from the way the author writes the neighboring queen, he doesn't mean it like that at all. It's more a case that the queen of Great Jing is an absolute idiot, but she thinks that everyone opposes her solely because she's a woman (I mean, that would definitely be a thing) and so she will prove to everyone that she's the best....while vilifying the most selfless man in the country...... Seriously, she's an idiot and her making every wrong decision possible is because she's an idiot, NOT because she's a woman. Although, the pressure she's under that drives her to do stupid things to prove her power IS because she's a woman, but that's just realistic. But yeah, as long as you realize that the Queen is an idiot who reacts in all the wrong ways to pressure (that wouldn't be the same if she was a man'again, this IS actually realistic) because she's an idiot, then the most glaring issue is the timeline. It really does drive everything that seems off in the novel.

Nothing else can be said that this is a terrible novel. National pride runs rampant through out the entirety of the book, which really isn’t surprising considering Chinese authors will only release “politically correct” novels that the Government approves of. China good, everybody else is but our stepping stones. The MC is rather brainless, not through inaction but more through just jumping all over the place without considering strategically what is happening. So the number one best martial artist thinks it’s a good idea to go to destination A but in doing so he leaves his rear guard or some other unassuming place unprotected. Sure enough, that place gets blown up or smashed up or invaded, just one of the many repercussions of his actions. The novel is also a strength at any cost genre, he/she who wields the bigger club makes the rules. This is virtually on every page and when the enemy grows in power then his system steps in to provide a mission that rewards a power increase, whether it be weapons or cultivation, of more than enough to overcome the new hazard. It also gets disappointing when as one enemy seems to be neutralised then another one appears to keep the story going. Currently the chapter I’m on, think it’s 110, we now got Vampires to deal with. So Evil Spirits and Vampires thrown in for fun. Apart from the above, I really felt no resonance with the story. The MC is an emotional ice berg, kills his ex wife because it would affect his martial heart later etc, though one scene when he reunites with his long lost family stirred him a little but apart from that he is indifferent and just there for purely selfish reasons which is his system rewards and his pursuit of strength and power. No system reward then no he isn’t moving, system reward (with never a failure penalty) and he is there immediately. TL;dr - I liked the initial synopsis, but after reading as much as I have, I can not recommend this as a decent novel. It just mirrors the many other released (or plagiarised) Chinese Novels.

The main character in this is almost comically overpowered. he was already in the running to be strongest dude on earth before his system activated. on top of that, he's got as much personality as a block of wood. he's so detached that whenever the story says he cares about something it just feels like lip service. that'd be fine if it didn't ruin the story's best aspect, the face slapping! this story genuinely has some of the best wind up I've ever seen. the. villains get almost as many chapters as the mc so you can watch them flounder and dig themselves into a deeper hole. I genuinely enjoy their scenes more than the mcs because they actually emote. but this is ruined when the mc comes face to face with them and one taps them since he's too emotionless to care and too strong to be stopped. now, idk about you, but I'm petty. I want the danzo walk downs, the mahito cries, the "let him bleed"s. this quick cut in half without even realizing what's going on? it just doesn't do it for me. it's like doing pro wrestling level wind up just to punch a wet towel. it makes a satisfying sound, but lacks real impact

the writter seems to love putting his own politics into the book and making fun of feminism and is being really sexist about it. can't recommend. the queen litterally only screws the mc over because "he is a man" and that is just genuinly so stupid it ruined it all for me

Was it truly necessary for the author to hijack the sacred names of Hindu gods for his cheap fiction? What kind of insecure, culturally tone-deaf hack deliberately disrespects the living faith of over a billion people just to prop up a mediocre story? Does he actually believe this lazy appropriation adds depth, or is it just another pathetic attempt at edginess from someone with the creative imagination of a Wikipedia page? This novel isn't just trash — it's an insult to both literature and the beliefs it so arrogantly stomps on. The book is every bit as hollow, lazy, and brain-dead as the author who wrote it.

Don't waste your time on this novel. Just reading the first few chapters makes you realize how stupid everyone in that world is. The whole country ignores the protagonist's achievements out of nowhere, and you have a brainless, supposedly powerful empress attacking the main character.
