Bedouin's camels weren't the same camels provided near the pyramids for the tourists to ride. They were almost never bathed, and they emitted a heavy stench. You could even find parasites like ticks and fleas in the camels' fur. Most people from the cities in overseas countries definitely weren't used to them. Each camel couldn't bring too much with them, either—at most a bit of water and food. The expedition team had a lot of heavy equipment with them, and the other group had a lot of high-end technological devices.
