He was penniless and unable to advance in life; a situation he was forced into by the enemy of his father. If it weren’t for the little money he made by selling off items in Conviction, he would’ve barely been able to eat. In the end, he chose to settle his matters once and for all. He assassinated his father’s enemy. He lay dying shortly after being shot in the pursuit.

However, that wasn’t the end of his story. Instead, he awoke moments later to find that he had reincarnated into his past-self. Armed with his experience and knowledge of future events, he sets out to live his life anew.

In concept, Nie Yan had not fully adapted; he prepared to interact with Bayonet as friends, but Bayonet would not foster friendships with anyone. In their line of business, one more friend meant one more danger. In Bayonet's eyes, his relationship with Nie Yan was solely transactional, nothing more. Nie Yan pays, he does the job; things like friendship and sentimental ties, to him, those were burdens. Bayonet only had a few brothers, those comrades who had come down from the battlefield with him. As for others, he was used to being cold and dismissive, Nie Yan included!


Bayonet's words were a wake-up call for Nie Yan, reminding him their relationship was built on transactions.
