In a remote jungle nestled between Chu City and Whitewater City within the Da  Xuan Country, a thin and frail figure was leaning against a thick tree trunk.  Both of his legs were spread apart in a relaxed manner. 

This figure belonged to a thirteen or fourteen-year-old teenager. 

Aside from his unusually pale face, the boy had fairly common facial features.  His clothes were loose-fitting and a bright shining steel sword was carelessly thrown by his side.

The guards around the palace showed a respectful demeanor upon seeing the few men approach, as all of them were cultivators serving the royal family of Jiang Country. They were regarded as immensely powerful beings in their eyes, and their official positions were also highly distinguished.


Though the royal family of Jiang Country was indeed a family of cultivators, the emperor who sat on the throne was always a descendant of ordinary people without magical powers, and the real controllers of the royal power were the high-ranking cultivators of the family, who mostly operated behind the scenes and rarely revealed themselves.


And those serving the royal family were specifically dispatched to protect the royal authority.


This was a common practice in all mortal nations of the Zhongtian continent. No one knew the reason, but there were rumors that once a cultivator ascended to the throne, the qi movement of that country would gradually decline.
