'By top computer expert, does he mean himself?'
The company was built upon the software developed by Roland when he was in his teens. A programming prodigy at a young age, Roland's software was always efficient and practically bug-free.
In the blink of an eye, Roland had placed the laptop in front of him and was tapping furiously at the keyboard. His fingers like a blur, Anna had a hard time keeping track of his movements. As someone with little knowledge of computers, apart from what she needed to know for office use, Anna curiously scooted round the table to watch.
"You don't mind me watching do you?"
"Uh." A grunt of acceptance.
By now, Roland's aura had completely changed. Before, he was a cool, detached Adonis, but now he seemed cold and vicious, like a wild animal.
'Wow, such a change in him just from being at a computer…
'I wonder, is this the real him or is the cold, aloof character the real Roland?'
…
A few minutes later…
"Someone's getting fired."
"Eek!" Anna couldn't help but let out a small squeak of surprise. "Did you really not find anything? I suppose there's no hope for me then…"
She leaned back in her chair, gloomy and pensive. She really had done nothing, but even this genius couldn't save her.
"What? No. Some moron almost got you fired after overlooking something as simple as this. Well… I suppose it's not simple for them, but still, it's something I'd expect one of my employees to know about.
"I mean, really, the person who hacked into our server is obviously smart, but they're not perfect. There are innumerable mistakes and slips they made here and there, leaving proof that the system was hacked.
"Actually, by the way it's been done, it reminds me of an infamous hacker…"
This was the most Anna had ever heard him talk before. Even though she'd just been told that she wasn't going to lose her job, for some reason, she didn't care about that just wanted to keep him talking, to keep listening to him, for as long as possible.
"Who is this hacker? And why would they frame me?"
"I don't know why they'd want to frame you, but they are a very capable hacker.
"Described as someone who can walk through any firewall, a person to whom a barricade means nothing, someone whom even our systems mean nothing to.
"They go by the username 'Nightingale'."
…
On the other side of the computer screen, Nightingale watched the scene with a complicated expression.
Blushing slightly, she stared at Roland's striking figure through the security camera.
"On one hand, I love how he critiqued my work. His genius sees through even my methods. His criticism is firm but precise, laying the crux of the matter out in the open."
Then she shifted her gaze to the other person on the screen.
"On the other hand, he's found traces of my tampering… which means he's going to release that b*tch!"
