Love You

Roland leaned back in his chair and couldn't help but frown.

'There's clearly some kind of misunderstanding here. Roni is Nightingale? That's a good joke. I'm not doubting her intelligence, it's just that she's never been very good with computers.'

With a huff, he propped his head up with his arm as he went through the files he had on Nightingale. Of course, Roland didn't believe that Veronica and Nightingale were the same, but he'd be foolish not to perform some rudimentary checks.

'Hmm… It's as I thought, there's no evidence to suggest that Roni and Nightingale are the same.'

He even reviewed the data he'd collected from the most recent hack, but yet again, there was nothing to support Anna's claims.

'Either this is a big misunderstanding, or Anna is trying to smear Roni's name.'

The frown on Roland's face only deepened when he thought of that.

'I can think of no reason for Anna to go after Roni, so why would she say something like that?

'And if she didn't come up with that drivel, how did she get that idea into her head?'

The more he thought about it, the more baffled he became.

'Sh*t, this is just one more unnecessary trouble to deal with…

'It'll have to wait until tomorrow though; I can't deal with this right now.

'I have somewhere to be.'

The meeting with Anna had dragged on longer than he'd expect, so he was running late. Roland hurriedly gathered his belongings and rushed out of the office.

As he was half-walking half-jogging, he said over the phone, "Sorry, I'm running late. I'll be there soon. Love you."

At the hospital, there was a rare, quiet night. Everything was under control, and there were plenty of staff on.

"Go home, Dr. Pine," urged one nurse. Others soon joined in.

"Yes, go home, you spend too much time here; you need to look after yourself too."

"The 'Healing Angel' needs to take care of herself."

"Just leave, we have it covered."

Eventually, Dr. Pine relented and started packing up her things. She removed her lab coat and donned a trench coat. She normally stayed much later than she needed to; after all, most of the rest of the staff had people to go home to, so she would rather they went home since she had no one waiting at home.

To her surprise, as she exited the hospital lobby, she heard an excited shout.

"Nana, over here!"

She looked over to the source of the shout and a bright smile immediately appeared on her face.

A black sedan was waiting for her with its door open ready.

"Wow, what are you doing here? I didn't expect this," she said happily as she got in.

When Anna left the office, she immediately pulled out her phone to call someone.

"Yes, I've just left work now. I'll be at your house in roughly half an hour."

"Ok, yes, will do.

"See you in a bit, love you!"
