„About the monster in the forest that probably erased my memories, will it get taken care of or what is going to happen with that?" asked Adam Eliezer while lying on the cart looking at the clouds and the sky.
"Ya even forgot dat?! Anyway, some Emissaries will take care of that, we normal people don't have to worry 'bout dat!"
"But how can they deal with it, isn't that too strong for us humans?"
"Ya've never seen a cultivator?! Oh right right, I forgot!" Eliezer exclaimed as he slapped his forehead "At least we have something to talk 'bout."
He started to explain "Look, ya have us normal people and those guys we call cultivators, they're strong, they could beat hundreds of us without effort, but the thing is not everyone can become one of 'em, you need to have Qi affinity, which many people don't have." He continued "I dunno the details I didn't go to school only, those rich brats can go there and get to know about Qi 'n stuff."
While listening attentively to the old man's explanation Adam tried to upgrade his overall flexibility and senses (like vision, smell, et cetera) but he didn't have enough energy or water for that and the Improvement of his senses costed more resources than he had expected.
'50 Soul Shards just to upgrade my sense of balance?! That's fucking mental!'
'With the 7 I currently have I will be able to upgrade my flexibility once I have 13 more, so I need to get my hands on some Soul Shards in the near future'
"…if they're lucky they'll even end up in one of the top sects, like Highcloak or Golden Zephyr, ya know the strongest sects in Oblisey, even sects of the nearby cities are weaker than them." Continued Eliezer while Adam was thinking about his lack of Soul Shards.
Eliezer looked at the sky "Now that I've noticed, I talked quite a lot, it's already sunset, better get ready to set up a camp."
He stopped the cart at a clearing beside the road, while Adam hopped out Eliezer said to him "Young lad, come on and help me with some firewood."
"Sure, I'll come back in a while."
Walking away from the soon to be camp Adam looked behind him and when he did not see Eliezer, he sprinted into the forest.
While he ran into the forest to find animals which could provide Soul Shards he noticed another department of skills he was lacking, while running, although very fast and with high stamina/endurance he often stumbled and could not react in time resulting in him crashing to the ground.
He needs to improve his reflexes.
He also had to be fast because also needed to find firewood and he couldn't let Eliezer wait for too long since it would raise suspicion.
Speaking of which, he was very cautious of Eliezer, not because he seemed like a bad person, on the contrary, he seemed very nice, for now he is going to believe that it is because Eliezer is already a nice, old man done with life but he still had to keep his guard up.
After all, he did not know a thing about the people here and their mentality.
After while he found a dark-red furred bear, smaller than the ones he had seen on television or in online videos, but definitely more fear-inducing, particularly because he was facing a real one.
Fortunately, his now outstanding physique gave him a boost in confidence, and he did not run fearing for his life.
This gave him the opportunity to inspect the situation calmly.
The bear was alone and probably was not a cub since it looked vicious, it was not really big in height, but in length, and had a streamlined body, if it wasn't for the short extremities and the face he would've mistaken it for a dark-red wolf instead of a bear.
Seeing that Adam did not run away, the bear got ready for a fight and tried to intimidate him by standing up on his hind paws while it growled and roared, it certainly would have worked on any other human due to its extreme height once it stood up, but it didn't work on Adam, he could suppress his fear and keep a calm mind.
Noticing that the intimidation tactic did not work on Adam, the bear got down on his four paws again.
Suddenly Adam spotted a rustle in the bushes behind the bear where a small dark-red furred head was sticking out. Adam quickly made the connection; it looked like the parent was just protecting its child.
The big bear also noticed that, and when he saw Adam relaxing his posture the bear also no longer focused on the fight, it could see that the human did not want to cause trouble.
Turning back the big bear walked to its child and stood beside it and after one final glance at Adam, they walked away.
Adam instantly shot forward, flying above the big bear and while mid-air delivering a punch while twisting his upper body, producing the most amount of power he could muster.
*CRACK*
The spine of the bear was completely severed and the bear fell lifelessly to the ground.
*THUD*
Hearing the noise and sensing the vibrations through the ground the cub quickly turned to see what has happened.
The only thing it saw was his parent's body lying there on the ground with no sign of movement and a big amount of blood flowing down from the neck to the ground forming a pool of blood.
Standing on the bear it saw the man that they just now encountered.
The cub could not understand what had happened, it stared confusedly at his mother and patted her head gently with his paw. No reaction. He suddenly understood what had happened, this man killed his mother, this dirty, filthy man who showed no remorse ambushed his mother while they were sparing him, this fucking beast killed his mother.
With resentment and rage filled eyes, the cub looked at the man, who was busy digging around in his mother's corpse searching for something.
THIS DIRTY HUMAN DESERVES TO DIE
It attacked Adam, who only slapped at it as if it was just an annoying fly.
It flew about one meter until it landed in the pool of blood belonging to his mother.
While it tried to pick itself up it collapsed numerous times back on the ground, but finally, it stood again, with quivering paws, a blood dripping face and a nasty growl it stared at Adam with intense rage.
Adam did not regard the cub he pulled his arm out of the bear corpse and held a darkish purple shard in his hand, it was larger than any previous Soul Shard he had so he was sure it would be more valuable.
Only then did Adam look at the struggling cub.
"I have no excuses; I simply killed your parent because I seek profit, I'm not a god nor a saint I am who I am. It is always about who is stronger, strength comes in different forms and I happen to be stronger in the aspect of scheming. I do not believe that there is heaven or hell since people are individual, you could not simply classify them like that. Anyway, I feel stupid talking to an animal. I'll spare you; not because I like you or I fell sympathetic, but because killing you would give me no profit and letting you stay alive would probably not cause me any harm."
With that, he left the area to find a location with water to clean himself of the blood.
While Adam was still living by the waterfall, he noticed that most of the times if he killed a younger and smaller fish it would not result in a Soul Shard drop. Therefore, he did not see any reason killing babies or kids to get Soul Shards.
