Bk 2: Chapter Four (5)

"Sorventii? That I can do," Kheal said.

"How do we seal this deal?" Helen asked and Kheal chuckled in reply.

"We shake on it," She answered and Helen frowned.

"I don't break my word, Helen," Kheel answered and stretched out her hand to Helen. Helen hesitated for a few seconds, seemingly trying to ignore out if she was being played before she took the hand before her and they shook.

"We seem to be the same age, but you are new to this world so I will take you as my little sister. I'll call you little sister Helen," Kheal said and Helen raised a brow.

"Since we are now sisters, there is no way I will break my promise to you," Kheal said.

"And I should believe you why?" Helen asked.

"I am undergoing a special period. During this time, my heart and mind should only face north and my eyes following the sea for those pure of hearts," Kheal said and Helen only frowned.

"It means I must keep my eyes firm on a goal without wavering and my heart clean. Don't worry. Till we get to Sorventii, I must keep all promises I make. So, tell me what happened to the engine," She asked Helen.

"I don't quite understand what I saw, but I'll tell you," Helen said and Kheal leaned forward to hear her words. Helen could only sigh at this. This girl, she was not sure if she could trust her. But she knew she did not know anyone in this place and was not sure Si Sanga would help her again. She needed to make new friends. And she was sure that her request to just be helped to travel across the lands was not too ridiculous that one would not pay her back this favour.

"We had been taken out of holding to be fed to the engine. Before we touched the red liquid below, the engine collapsed into dust. I was so shocked that I barely survived the fall. During the commotion, I made for the nether halls to help my companion escape. But now that I think about it, something else stood out at that moment," Helen said and Kheal's eyes lit up at her finally revealing important information. At the corner of her eye, Helen saw Si Sanga approaching them and continued.

"As the claw was about to drop us into the engine, there was this man in robes swinging a rope or something," Helen made a look of confusion for a moment.

"Robes? Rope? What kind of robes?" Kheal asked.

"The kind I see on monks," Helen answered.

"The rope, are you sure it was a rope?" Kheal's eyes turned solemn.

"They were beads, stringed beads," Si Sanga said and Kheal looked at his figure that just arrived. Looking around for a second, she knew some others in their booths were listening in on their conversation.

"Beads?" she asked Si Sanga. She did not care much for those listening, talking about this in a public area, it would have been suspicious if no one was listening in. After all, these people escaped the Nether Lord.

"I was much closer than she was. Don't think too hard on it. It was the Religion," Si Sanga said and he could immediately feel the air in the room change. He was sure that many others who had heard his words were beyond shocked.

"The religion?" Helen asked. At her confused look, his brow almost twitched. This girl was good at lying.

"I've seen the Religion's monks before, so I am very sure that person was one of them. The way I see it, someone about to be fed to the engine was being protected by them," he said. At this, many eyes landed on Helen. She was a foreigner. Many already knew this from just a few hours on this train. The Nether lord himself pursued them. It must be her. Or was it the veiled girl beside her? This girl had barely said a word and no one had seen her face since she arrived.

"I came to tell you that your room is ready. If you want to have a rest now, go ahead," He said and Helen and Lizzy got up.

"I hope you won't forget your promise, Big sister Kheal," Helen said and Kheal nodded in reply, "Your request is nothing for one to run away from. You only wish to get somewhere. I will get you there," she said and Helen nodded and left with Si Sanga. Looking at her leaving back, those in the room started to doubt their earlier thought. If this girl was being protected by the religion, they would not have been almost killed by the nether Lord. They remembered that one of them was basically bleeding from all pores. How could people protected by the religion suffer as they had? No matter how great many thought the nether lord was, they did not think he was beyond the religion. The Religion was an existence that stood above all creatures.
