Dragons and Gods

"Ogath the Dragon..." Keita repeated. His confident tone was flattering. Before he could ask anything, Welzour rose to his feet.

"Wait a while, I'm going for a bit." he said.

Keita slightly panicked at his words and also sprang to his feet.

"Wait, I am mortal! When you say a while..." he hurried.

"I'm just going to town. I will be back before the sun." Welzour said.

Just like that, he disappeared, leaving Keita with nothing but questions. A moment later, he heard the flapping of wings going towards the nearest town.

'This guy... can he even properly interact with humans?' Keita thought.

Ogath the Dragon. It was a name he never heard before. He had the slight notion that there was some kind of God for Dragons but he never spared much thoughts to deities. That was before he became a human. Now, it seemed that Gods were all he ever heard or talked.

'I miss Ateer...' the God of Demons was supposed to be a black sheep among the gods. One that never talked with his Demons or gave them direction. A fitting god for those that didn't wish to be shackled.

Welzour, came back in a flash. He was still naked but was holding a giant barrel and two cups.

"Say Welzour, what is that?" Keita asked, pointing at the barrel.

"Alcohol." Welzour responded.

"Did you perhaps go to town and bought a barrel of wine?"

"No, I stole it."

Keita put his palm over his head and exhaled, loudly. Dragons were whimsical creatures with no sense of time. And Welzour was even more so than most. They spared no thought to a mortal's life span or how to normally converse. If they were in the middle of something, they could leave it be for centuries and come back as if nothing happened. Welzour poured two cups and gave one to Keita.

"Where were we?" Keita asked, accepting the cup.

Welzour had a questioning expression. He did not think this distraction of his as a pause from the conversation.

"Ogath wants you dead." he said, still confused. In his mind, Keita who was a mortal might have

truly forgotten what they were talking about. As if a few moments for him were years for Keita.

"Right, yeah." Keita said, recollecting himself. "Is it alright for you to disobey him?"

Welzour got back into the hot spring. It wasn't so much that he liked it, rather he thought it was normal to converse while inside.

"He just told me you are alive, expecting me to kill you for him. He also told me where to find you expecting me to do the rest without directly telling me to actually kill you. Besides, I don't take orders." he calmly explained. "But is that really your first question? It is no small matter for the king of dragons to want you dead."

"Well, I do not really mind." Keita said, taking a sip of wine.

"Do you wish for death then? Dying while fighting against the Gods isn't a bad end for your kind I guess." Welzour was already pouring himself another drink.

Keita looked at his coup for a while.

"Say Welzour... Have you ever find something more important than yourself?" Keita asked.

"No." he responded right away.

Keita laughed.

"That's right. It is a very rare thing, something more important than one's life. Something I would never wish on anyone. Because when it's lost, there is nothing left to live for."

Welzour kept his silence.

"Are you perhaps trying to sound wise? You should not, it does not fit you. I met so called wise creatures before. In the end they bowed before strength like any other. Pride, you are not one of them. Do not tell me your shell made you humble. That would truly be a shame for there would be no merit in keeping you alive." Welzour said with a serious look in his eye.

"As if. Strength is the only thing in my mind, do not worry. What I am trying to say is, I do not care if I die from Ogath or the other gods. I already decided to kill every last one of them. If I die trying so be it. It just means that was all my life amounted to. Besides Welzour, there will come a time that you will fall prey to my blade. That has not changed since becoming human." Keita said.

"I see. That is good Pride, for I crave for revenge as well." Welzour smiled.

"I told you. My name is Keita Raigon. I can't be called Pride anymore." Keita furrowed his brows.

"Raigon... Raigon..." Welzour repeated.

"What? Did you know anyone with such a name?" Keita asked after taking another sip of his drink.

"No, just trying to remember it. I was never good at remembering human names. The only one I could ever remember was of a man that ended up forsaking his name for a new one. He goes by War God now."

"Hahah, I used to be the same. The only Human I was able to remember was a Hero that kept dodging my blade. Can't remember his name though. Only his face while he muttered. What an irritating bastard he was."

The two drank in silence for a while.

"Killing the gods, huh?" Welzour said. He smiled after thinking for a while. "That doesn't sound bad. I never thought about it before. As expected of humans that made alcohol! It is such a simple but brilliant idea. Yes, I got it. Say Raigon, I have a proposition for you. How about we team up? Killing each other can wait. I'm sure it will be interesting. I never teamed up with anyone before but if it's you, I won't be bored. Killing the gods, huh? I can't wait!" his eye was shining.

"Welzour... Are you serious? I shouldn't be the one saying it but it's a fool's errand. A glorified suicide." Keita said.

Welzour got up, excited.

"That's fine isn't it? I'm sure it will be interesting to the last second. Even if we die it will only mean that's all our lives amounted to, correct? Ah, I can't wait! To slay Ogath with my own hands! Why haven't I ever thought of it before? Such a simple idea! Let's team up Raigon! Fighting side by side will surely be fun for a while. And after we are done we can kill each other! I can't wait!"

Keita looked at Welzour the Dread. He was calm and cool just a few moments ago. Now he looked like a child who found a new toy to play with. Was this his true self? He was supposed to be a noble Dragon, the strongest Dragon. The only being who has ever crossed to other continents.

'It can't be... This guy was just bored all along?' the thought crossed his mind.

"You are forgetting something." Keita eventually said, while Welzour was clenching his fists and punching the air.

Welzour stood straight, his face full of questions.

"What?"

"I am weak."

"It's fine isn't it? You are lucky to be human. Although a Lorde would have been better. But if you are a human, you can be a Hero right? What's the problem?"

"There is no way someone who is planning to kill Alcione and the other gods can become a hero."

Welzour's excitement melted away. He fell back to the hot spring as if his legs gave out. He put his hand on his chin thinking.

"That's right. I guess... We won't be able to do anything the way you are now. You are too weak... If we are to kill the gods you will have to be at least as strong as you were back then... Hmmm..."

'Ahh, I want to punch him.' Keita thought.

"Then, how about going North? I seem to have one or two offspring bastards living with the Dragonborn. You can fight them. Even if your magic power doesn't get stronger, the more you fight the stronger you become right? That's how humans work right? You can try killing my offspring Half-dragons. Or are they dead? They don't leave more than five centuries so they might be dead... Hmmm...."

"You... don't care if I kill your sons and daughters?" Keita asked.

Welzour kept his silence. He seemed to not understand the question.

"Ah, that's right. Humans care about their offspring. We do not share that kind of bond with our Half-Dragons. They are some conflicts between the gods and Ogath involved. I'm not completely sure to be honest but Half-Dragons seem to be Maerlaphy's creation. She is the god of all Demi-humans so we do not care much for them. Well, in my case since they aren't strong enough, I lost interest and forgot all about them."

Keita was surprised of Welzour's words. But he was a Dragon. He couldn't force the values he learned as a human to him.

"Ah, I remember there are two still alive. They shouldn't be mine, since I haven't been to the Dragonborn since we met but they are Half-Dragons all the same. Twins at that."

"Wait a second. I never said I want to fight Half-Dragons did I? Don't go deciding that for yourself." Keita objected.

Welzour completely ignored him.

"The female is called Maltu. You should have more than enough reason to fight her. I heard she killed one of the Seven Deadly Sins."
