Upon hearing her secret, Devon stared coldly at her.
"Who are you? Why are you sitting beside me?"
Lyn heart sank upon hearing what Devon said. She was even at the verge of crying when she knew that her curse worked yet again. This time, however, had an immediate effect. Although they were not very very close for time they spent together was short, they still formed pretty good memories. Tears welled up in her eyes, blurring her vision when she thought of how the different situations made their relationship grew closer.
Lyn still remembered they started off hating each other, with Devon's pranking her when the both of them actually did not listen in class. Yes, it is not fun to be pranked at, but this gave Lyn a chance for revenge, by making Devon so guilty that he would ask her to make a request for him to fulfil so that he won't feel so guilty about pranking her. Lyn in turn made him experience the way she felt when she was pranked, by asking him to confess his love for Greggy's hair to Greggy then stopped him halfway with 'Oh, it's just a joke'. This made Devon angry and frustrated, yet unable to blame her and that face always cracks Lyn up whenever she think of it. But now, knowing that the Devon she once knew had become just a stranger devastated Lyn.
When Lyn went to Devon's house for the Literature mini project, she remembered that that was the first time they discovered that they both have something in common - both of them like dogs. She was even so fond of Devon's dog that she would rather just say yes to whatever Devon said, even when Devon asked "Will you marry me?" than to stop petting Ken. Also that day, Lyn did not eat lunch before going to Devon's house and was famished after some time. Knowing that she had yet to eat, Devon personally cooked for her. That made Lyn's heart flutter as it's the first time a guy cooked for her. However, maybe Devon was upset that she tried to stop him from dieting, he farted to her face after that.
Just a day ago, they even got into detention together. Instead of blaming each other for being in detention, both of them actually had fun, especially Lyn. Lyn ended up making Devon do truth and dare; she made him decide who to shoot, shag and marry between Greggy, and his parents, and confess to Greggy (for real this time) how much he loved her hair, she even doodled his face whenever he got exasperated and added her art piece to her collection of doodles.
And yet today, when it's Lyn's turn to do her truth and dare, Lyn's curse had to activate, taking away all her happiness...just like that. Just a short one week, in fact, not even one week but six days. Over the six days that they were together, they formed close bonds and friendship yet such a bond can be broken so easily over a game of truth and dare. What's worse, the guy never ever remembers what they've experienced together, it's always Lyn that remembers.
Never did Lyn knew that Devon actually replaced the msg in her instant noodles with natural flavourings as he cared about her health and he only cooked instant noodles although it's unhealthy as it's the fastest food to cook and he did not want Lyn to feel hungry for long or get gastric pain...
Never did Lyn knew that Devon actually ate with her although he was still full from the lunch he had before she came...
Never did Lyn knew that she was the first to make Devon not feel alone but actually experience the happiness and warmth in having company...
Before Lyn could even get a chance to know all these, her curse had to activate, taking away her new-found friendship and happiness.
I knew it! I knew I should have been adamant on not sitting with a guy! Why did I waver? I knew this will happen yet again if I chose to remain seating with a guy yet, I still gave up on changing seats and let myself be hurt again. I can't blame anyone but myself...It's all my fault! Unable to hold back her tears, a tear slid down from Lyn's eyes.
"Don't cry.."
Hesitantly, Devon used his hand to wipe the tears that were threatening to fall from Lyn's eyes.
