The Reptilians' Plans

BANG

Lance broke through the door as if it were paper. Ships like these were typically made of lightweight materials to both help with the cloaking capabilities and keep the footprint of the ship down.

The Reptilian was seated in front of a console shaped like a "C", with a holographic display showing some information. Startled, it turned around to see a man with a V-shaped mask shooting towards it through the air.

Lance's fist directly hit the Reptilian's head, making it bounce back. He used the thrusters to slow himself down, not caring about the effect of the accelerations and decelerations on his body.

His arm which had just impacted the Reptilian's face shot back and started punching the reptilian's stomach. The reptilian could only stand there, with two fists barreling into its body like two 10-ton wrecking balls.

Although the scales dampened the impact, its organs got repeatedly damaged with the continuous pummeling. Remembering its duty, it tried to reach for a button to the side.

Lance's fists were almost mangled from the repeated impacts before the pain finally woke him up from his rage. Noticing the Reptilian's tail which was slowly reaching for the button, he hurriedly commanded the suit to activate its tasing function.

The reptilian was already in a weakened state and the thousands of volts of electricity coursing through it was the last straw-making it collapse to the ground.

Silence greeted the ship as Lance panted. Thankfully, no vital equipment had been damaged in his outburst.

Lance himself was shocked reflecting on his actions. The rage had been simply uncontrollable, and for the first time in his life he knew how it felt to let everything out.

Yet, a disaster had almost occurred. If he had even a few milliseconds late, the reptilian's tail would have hit the button and made the ship explode.

Panting, Lance laid his hand on the console, commanding the suit to gather all information. It seemed that the materials of the ship were made out of a strange alloy which blocked all communications to the outside. He had to get to the capsule if he wanted to get back in touch with the station.

Putting the ship on a direct course to the station, Lance started to walk to the capsule. Meanwhile, he asked the suit what the objective of the cargo was, anxious to find out just what was going on.

The answer thankfully set his worries at ease.

The Reptilians had somehow obtained the details of all of the top ranking initiates of the present batch. After finding out which of them grew up with families on earth and were then replaced by constructs, the Reptilians made constructs of their own-of the parents, siblings and friends of those initiates.

The plan was to discreetly replace the real families on earth with these energy constructs. The families would be bargaining chips which would be used to entice the initiate to their side as spies.

The cargo was labeled with a number, meaning that this was not the first batch and also probably not the last.

Lance was shocked to see that such an insidious scheme was under way. The station had to be notified immediately so that due precautions could be taken. Although Lance was relieved that he had happened to intercept this specific cargo which contained his parents, he was still worried about the rest of the initiates who had possibly already had their parents replaced.

Their families were their strengths, but also their weaknesses.
