The Sense of "TASTE"

This time he plucked only three fruits and climbed down from the tree.

June took one of the three red fruits in his hand and started to analyze it with the help of his all four senses except his sense of "TASTE". He found that everything about this fruit was normal and there was actually nothing extraordinary about it.

Then he closed his eyes and opened his SENSORY STATUS WINDOW.

After taking a close look at the numeric digits in front of his five senses, he focused on his "TASTE" sense from the SENSORT STATUS WINDOW.

Everything became dark in his vision, but noticing the increased sensitivity inside his mouth, he knew that his sense of "TASTE" has been activated, which amplified his sensitivity of taste by exactly five times.

Then he carefully brought the red fruit present in his hand closer to his mouth and took a small bite out of it.

It was a little bit difficult for him because although he knew that there was a red fruit in his hand but he could not feel it in any way.

To June, it felt like there was actually nothing in his hands due to the lack of his sense of touch. It felt very awkward to him, like he was trying to eat something out of his imagination.

After taking a small bite out of the red fruit, he did not chew it immediately but instead kept it on top of his tongue and waited patiently while keeping full attention on it.

Slowly the saliva produced in June's mouth started to interact with that small piece of red fruit. During this interaction, the saliva started to slowly dissolve the outer layers of the red fruit which came in contact with it, and then as the fruit started dissolving in very small portions, its taste started to spread on the June's tongue.

Then finally June could taste the flavor of that red fruit.

Then from within his memory, he tried to remember all the basic but important things that he knew about the 'taste' sense from the starting.

"What is taste?"

This was the only question that was currently revolving in the June's mind.

In simple words, 'Taste' is just another simple sense present primarily in the tongue which is used by a normal human being in order to check if a thing is eatable or not. The taste confirms the edible nature of the food. No one would normally prefer to eat something that leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

Animals like dogs, cows, monkey etc. select their food on the basis of their own sense of "Taste".

Let us consider the sense of 'Taste' in the case of a normal household pet dog.

If you put a piece of raw meat in one plate, a piece of boiled meat in the second plate and a piece of flavored meat in the third plate, and then put these three plates in front of a pet dog.

Which one do you think your pet dog will eat first?

Obviously, first he would carefully smell all the pieces of meat kept on the three plates in front of him and then pick the flavored piece of meat first, then the piece of a boiled meat, and then the piece of raw meat in the end, and that too only if he was starving for days.

Otherwise he would just eat the pieces of meat on the first two plates and then simply keep looking at you with those puppy eyes, asking for more flavored meat.

Now what would happen if you, by any chance, remove his sense of taste? How will he choose then?

Simple, then he would just eat all three pieces of meat including the raw piece of meat and will ultimately create the digestive problems for himself and will start to dirty your own house all around.

This tells us that the sense of taste is directly related to the ability of the body to digest something.

But then the question arises, that why do most of the fried fast foods like french fries, burger, pizza etc, which are hard to properly digest and are definitely not healthy for your body but still they all taste so good?

The answer to this question is actually pretty simple. It is because they smell better than they taste, but then one can ask that their taste is still better than the raw vegetables and salad which are definitely good for our health.
