A Moment of Awkwardness

A day has passed since his battle with the Evil God. Even Lin Feng, the one who fought with that cunning and deceitful monster didn't know who emerged victorious at the end. All he remembered was the torrential surge of chaotic energy that engulfed him and his opponent.

As his conscious returned, the first thing he felt was extreme exhaustion. It was not a normal exhaustion that he usually felt when his character was out of stamina. It felt as if it affected his real body in the real world. Also, even though its true that all his stamina was exhausted after his battle with the Evil God that lasted for exactly 6 days and 6 nights, it shouldn't feel this way as he was extremely familiar with what kind of exhaustion he would feel in the game.

After contemplating for a bit, he eventually sensed his surrounding and only saw endless darkness. Startled, he couldn't help but curse. 'The hell?!' But was surprised to notice that he couldn't speak.

Lin Feng tried to touch his mouth to know what was wrong. 'What's this... Why can't I feel any sensation in my hand?' He attempted again from the other hand but still failed. His suspicions grew and finally decided to sense his body.

'What's happening... Why can't I feel my body?' Lin Feng became confused by this sudden problem. He thought. 'I'm sure I won this time as I didn't get any notification for time revival. Is this perhaps still part of the quest?' In fact, he really won from the life and death battle he had with the Evil God. And in turn, he finally completed the quest he painstakingly struggled to finish.

Now, he was in a story scenario where he was about to receive the reward of the Divine Grade Quest. Although the preview of the quest reward only put [???] in it, he still tried to finish it not knowing what he will eventually get.

Actually, he already thought of what kind of reward he was going to get, and after deducting several possibilities, he eventually came to a conclusion that the reward would likely be a final hidden advancement of his class after the hints the Evil God shouted from their fight. 'Half transcendent immortal'. That means, he still haven't truly transcended to the pinnacle of his class yet. As for the 'immortal', it is likely his privilege as a player.

Lin Feng tried to calm himself down and decided to just wait for a bit longer if something will to happen. He patiently waited for hours, but what awaited him was only deep silence.

As he was about to lose some patience, something happened. Deep in the darkness, a light that was as tiny as a fist suddenly emerged. He looked at this light as it gradually turned bigger and bigger; But the truth was, its actually located very far that it looked really tiny in his field of view, but he already knew this with his superb senses and cognitive ability.

'It must be related to the reward I was about to receive...' Lin Feng thought as he waited for the ball of light to come a little bit closer until he could see what it was.

After some time, he could clearly see the white ball of light that was accelerating towards him with wide eyes. He knew that he had extreme concentration when it comes to fighting and always exercise his mind and body to be composed in any kind of situation. But all those experience he had betrayed him when he saw the phenomenon that was happening in front his eyes.

When several seconds had passed, Lin Feng concentrated his sight as he found out that it was actually a huge burning star! He couldn't even help but gasp in incredulity. This star was tremendously huge that he even thought that it was likely twice as big as the Sun from reality.

'Oh... My... G-god!!!'

When he was about to turn around and make a run for it, he was compelled when he found out that his body was still uncontrollable. Fortunately, it eventually slowed down until it finally stopped in a few hundred meters in front of him. As Lin Feng saw this, he breathed a sigh of relief.

Lin Feng observed the enormous ball of light as it lingered there motionlessly. After some time, an old and hoarse voice came inside it and said. "Hmm... I never thought that someone will actually complete this quest earlier than what I expected."

After it spoke, the supposedly enormous ball of light slowly vanished and revealed a humanoid figure inside. It is actually an old man with long and white straight hair. He looked at Lin Feng and sized him up from head to toe like a father-in-law trying to find flaws in his daughter's future husband.

When Lin Feng noticed the meaningful gaze this old man had, he involuntarily firmed his posture like a stricken cat. 'W-why am I doing this?' He thought for a bit before finally asking the old man.

"Y-you are?"

"Oh... I forgot to introduce myself. I am Professor Stein Heinsford, the creator of this game." He paused for a second and continued. "Please refrain from asking any question at the moment and leave it for later. I only have a limited time so let me first give you the reward of the quest then you'll know everything."

Prof. Heinsford slowly flew towards him as he talked. When he was already right in front of Lin Feng, he raised his right hand and pressed his thumb at Lin Feng's forehead, right exactly at the middle of his brows as he gently said.

"Awaken!"

Lin Feng thought that he was about to receive something so he closed his eyes thinking it would be the proper thing to do in this situation. But after some time, he furrowed his brows as nothing happened. He hesitated for a moment before finally openning his eyes.

What he saw was an old face looking at him awkwardly as if he did something embarrassing. Afterwards, the old man hurriedly changed his face with a dignified look. Lin Feng weirdly looked at him. Confused, he asked. "Uhh... I-is it do-"

"Ahem! Didn't I tell you to not ask any question at the moment? What an impatient kid you are, I still haven't done anything yet." When he finished yapping, he hurriedly grasp Lin Feng's head and shouted.

"Awaken!!!"

What happened next was a flash of purple light spread out of his forehead as it illuminated everything in the pitch black abyss, enveloped his line of sight as he felt a surge of innumerable information that flooded inside his head and accompanied by an unbearable pain that eventually turned him unconscious.
