Smaller From Far Away

Morning was now here and Chu Fan was awoken by the cries and chirping of the spiritual beasts. He was accompanied by Su Chow and Elder Wang as he performed his morning cultivation routine.

To there amusement, Chu Fan was a very diligent cultivator. He showed great promise and needed very little to no help in the comprehension of techniques.

After giving Chu Fan a few pointers, they left him to train on his own again.

Finishing his morning routine he went about exploring again. This time he headed to the north and examined all the manner of beasts present.

Given the chance, he hunted down a couple of beasts his size. He'd just about finished butchering the last of his hunt when he heard a deafening roar.

"Rawr!"

He remembered these cries.

"Those two are at it again. Alright."

He ventured towards the the sounds of battle and plopped himself in the trees this time.

"I guess it's an appropriate time for a lunch break as well."

He pulled a steaming pouch from out of his spatial storage and began eating as he watched the two beasts battle it out.

Much to the dismay of the two beasts, they had already noticed his presence; but what could a weak cultivator like the fat little boy be capable of. They brushed him off as a mere leaf in the wind and continued their battle. With each passing second, there attacks grew more vicious as spewed blood here and there.

As Chu Fan ate, the smell of his food began to attract nearby carnivorous spiritual beasts. His cooking had a simply irresistible smell to it; every beast that knew the taste of meat within a 500 meter radius wanted a bit of what he was eating.

Hearing the sound of panting, from underneath him, Chu Fan looked to see that there were many small to medium sized carnivorous beasts drooling as they waited for any droppings.

Amused by the sight, he picked out a juicy piece of meat and dropped it in the crowd of beasts. And instantly, they began to fight one another for it.

"Thud, Thud, Thud!"

Chu Fan and the other beasts could hear something fast approaching. By the sound of it, a giant beast was fast approaching.

In his amusement, he had forgotten about the match he was watching. What Chu Fan didn't know was that the match had ended the moment he dropped that juicy piece of meat. The two clashing beasts had long forgotten about their battle the moment Chu Fan opened his fragrant pouch of food.

They were both afraid of the other taking advantage of such a distraction and receiving a fatal blow.

Had Chu Fan been close enough, he would have been able to see that the two spiritual beasts were actually salivating as they fought and not bleeding as initially seen.

The two spiritual beasts were now swiftly approaching, and as they grew closer so did there size. from the distance they initially stood at, they looked to be no bigger than a medium sized dog and a crow.

As they approached, the dog-like spiritual beast was actually a wolf-type beast, his mane shone a chromatic color as he stood over the many spiritual beasts. He stood the as tall as an elephant would in Chu Fan's original world.

The beasts began to scurry away as they stood no chance against such a predator. Those who chose to stay were still juggling the piece of meat about in midair.

"Caw!"

The flying spiritual beast swept down and with a flap of its wings, sent the remaining beasts flying. Chu Fan clutched the branch he sat on for dear life. He was only able to take a brief glance at the magnificent bird. Its feathers were pitch black and it moved about as if it were a mere shadow, hard to trace. It only landed for a brief moment, and its figure stood as big and tall as a grown man.

The flying beast was just about to pick up its prized piece of meat when it was blindsided by the wolf beast. Amidst the tussle, the bird beast was able to bite down on the meat, and so did the wolf beast.

"Rawk, let go, I saw it first."

"Grr! What would your bird tongue know about this meat? I smelled it before you could even take a peak."

Behind their animal cries. Chu Fan could faintly here voices of spoken dialogue.

"What an amazing discovery? I never thought I'd encounter any spiritual beasts capable of speech."

He quickly jumped down and split the remaining pieces of meat into three piles. He three the third pile towards the various smaller spiritual beasts as he felt a bit of sympathy towards them. And he presented the two other piles he had before the two bickering spiritual beasts who had, at this point, ripped apart the tender piece of meat and gobbled up their portions.

"You two can have this and more, if you agree to my conditions."

They looked at the pile of meat sitting before them, then they looked at each other.

"Raw? Who are you to speak to us this way boy?"

"Grr. Little runt, what make you think you are worthy of demanding anything of us?"

Chu Fan shrugged his shoulders and turned away. He began to pull various ingredients from out of his spatial storage and flaunt them about.

"Sigh, I have all this food and I'm stuck here in Quantum Realm. I could practically eat myself to death and I'd never finish all the food I have."

As soon as Chu Fan turned away, the two beasts had already gobbled up the food he had set down. They had already left, they had no time to listen to the ramblings of a child.

Chu Fan turned around and was shocked to find that the two had already left. He placed his food back into his spatial storage and headed back to the cave hideout.

Maybe Su Chow and Elder Wang had a clue about the identities of these two magnificent spiritual beasts.
