As A Sacrifice

Take who?

Jing Yi tilted her head and her brows creased in perplexity.

"You want to… take me away with you?" Take me where? Didn't he tell her before that she couldn't stepped her feet outside of this mansion even for one step or else she would die immediately? Why change it now? And what happened with that whatca-ma-call-it soul contract?

Lin Feng Yu didn't look at her eyes, instead he seemed to be thinking about something. His expression was so serious, never she saw him like that before. She was indeed wary.

In contrary, Lin Feng Yu was thinking about how should he told her about it. She was only a 10 years old child after all. Would she understand? Would she feel sad? Would she hate him instead? All these years, he thought that he would never come back. But, here he was. He must took her away for she was a very important piece of all their hard works. Before the other party took her away first…

"Brother?", he heard the little girl called for him, waking him up from his inner thought. He inhaled deeply. She need to know. He decided that whatever the outcome, he would never let her go through everything alone.

Coughing twice, he opened his mouth and asked, "Yi'er, all this time I never came back, do you want to know why?"

Jing Yi was taken aback. In fact, she knew. But of course she couldn't answer 'yes', thus , she only shook her head and muttered,

"I don't know. What happened?"

Lin Feng Yu licked his lips, feeling it dry all of a sudden. "It was because of an accident 4 years ago. At that time, I was 10 years old and our Dongfang kingdom had just ended a 100 years war with another kingdom, Qingsha..."

Lin Feng Yu narrated a long story about what had happened 4 years ago. As she listened for him attentively, she couldn't help but feel restless. She got a hunch that maybe in the future she wouldn't have any peaceful days...

Dongfang kingdom had just ended a 100 years long war with Qingsha. But as the lose side. As many cultivation sects and martial artists had been rooted in Dongfang for hundreds of years, and so that was in Qingsha. The only difference was those sects didn't embark in the righteous path.

A lot of righteous cultivators and martial artists died during that long war. Therefore, many dark cultivation sects that had been suppressed since thousand years ago, finally able to expand their influences and became stronger. They intended to swept everything in Dongfang clean.

That year, when Dongfang was engulfed in fear and despair, Tian Xiang magical forest, one of the places in the legend located far across of the ocean, had suddenly dispatched huge amount of magical beasts. They were led by four majestic beasts known as four kings of Tian Xiang. With tremendous power, they had helped Dongfang kingdom to withstand the attack from those dark cultivators.

They indeed succeed, but later, new problem occurred. Since thousand years ago, there was a holy agreement between the human kingdoms and Tian Xiang magical forest that each side was forbidden to interfere with each other's matters. Whoever had violated the agreement, they would be struck by heavenly lightning.

"In the end all the magical beasts from Tian Xiang got struck by the lightning?", Jing Yi asked, obviously feeling excited.

Lin Feng Yu showed a shallow smile and nodded. "That was exactly what happened. But that's not the main focus of this story.", he replied.

Jing Yi could understand his mean. The magical beast from Tian Xiang forest all got punished by the heaven. But that was truly odd. For thousand of years, those magical beasts never did anything that could breach the holy agreement. But why did they suddenly come and give their help, even by risking themself?

"Why did they suddenly came, brother? Why did they help our kingdom? Is there something very important for them here?", she asked.

The smile on Lin Feng Yu's face became broader. He rubbed Jing Yi's head and his gaze became more gentle. "You really are a smart girl. Indeed, they came here to protect something important.", he said.

"What is that?"

"Successors of their kings."

Jing Yi was gasped in shock. "Successors of the four kings?! Their successors… are here?! In our Dongfang Kingdom?! All of them?!", she exclaimed.

That was very shocking. Jing Yi couldn't fathom how the successors of four majestic beasts could be stranded in Dongfang. She exhaled a long breath.

Lin Feng Yu didn't immediately giving her a reply. He peered at Jing Yi who currently in daze, seemed to be overwhelmed by the fact.

Both siblings stared at each other, being preoccupied by their own thoughts. One was feeling excited and the other was anxious.

After sometimes, Lin Feng Yu said unhurriedly, "Yes. They are here in Dongfang. Four of them."

Four.

Four of them.

In Dongfang.

"But why in Dongfang?", Jing Yi could hear that her voice was sounded weird. Indeed, why here? What's so special about Dongfang kingdom anyway? Why not in Qingsha? Why not in Tian Xiang? Did they got separated from their parents? Did they got kidnapped?

And etc… and etc…

There were so much questions inside of her mind. But the most important question was : what did it have to do with Lin Feng Yu's disappearance 4 years ago?

She quickly asked, "Then what's it got to do with you? Why did you disappear all of a sudden?"

The long awaited question had finally asked. And Lin Feng Yu had been more than ready to tell her about this. Thus, he hastily answered,

"At the beginning, it was an accident. But later, he left me there to die."

[He left me there to die. He meant, Jiang Chen Lu had left him there to die.]

Jing Yi was convinced that there are many people out there that are more cruel than Jiang Chen Lu. After all what was cannot be happened here? She was certainly wasn't surprised at all after hearing Lin Feng Yu's words.

Seeing his little sister indifferent gaze, Lin Feng Yu creased his brows. Why wasn't she got surprised?

Jing Yi thought that she had to ask about the 'he' that he was mentioned. Or else, he would feel suspicious. But before she was able to ask, Lin Feng Yu added, "Jiang Chen Lu… Our father had purposely left me there to die alone. In that hunting ground. He had long ago wanted me to die as a sacrifice."
