The number of guards left were eight.
Ron and Elizabeth were suffering from headaches and were finding it difficult to concentrate even for the most basic of spells. They looked tired and haggard. They also had used up most of the magic stones they had spells imprinted upon. Rest were the ones with the higher tier spells which would maim if not kill the guards. They didnt use those.
Adam was seen being pushed to his limits as well. He was drenched in sweat and had the look of immense concentration. It had only been 10 minutes at most. But the continous spell casting was very difficult for them.
Aaron looked fresh at the side.
As the guards came closer and closer, even Adam used his mage stones. He was the only one fighting now anyways.
He knew he was only delaying the inevitable. They didnt knew how to fight physically in the first place. Even if they tried to fight, two of them were barely able to move with headaches due to the over use of magic. Plus the guards looked more experienced in physical combat.
He had arrogance seeped into his bones. He wouldnt stand to just give up. He would fight till the end. He was a Wilson after all. Wilson's didnt breed cowards.
"You." He called towards Aaron.
"You better use that sword. I dont care if its for decoration purpose only. Take it out and face the guards when they get near.
Delay them as much as you can and I will try to reduce their numbers. "
Aaron nodded. He didnt tell Adam about his ability with the sword. He thought directly demonstrating would be better.
"Be prepared. Buy me a little time if you could. " Adam instructed Aaron.
Adam moved a few metres ahead of where Adam were standing.
The guards werent rushing. They were cautiously walking forward seeing a mage approach them. Although he hadnt done anything so far, they didnt know what mages were planning or what he could do.
Aaron pulled out his sword. Seeing his action the guards were surprised. A mage was going to use a sword? They havent heard of it before. Was he going to rain fire or send wind blades with it? He would have done that already before they got closer to him, wouldnt he?
Even Thunder king was interested to see what kind of sword skill the boy had. Was he going to use his skills as a swordsman? There were mages with enough time to invest it in such skills?
Aaron had already activated the atomic blade on his sword. The small mage stone on the sword could be used to activate the spell a lot of time if used moderately. Even if it was activated continously, it could be used for weeks straight. Thats the advantage a true mage had. But Aaron didnt need the advantage right now.
Seeing Aaron holding his sword and not moving one bit, the guards moved onto him. The guards had to just touch Aaron with a weapon. They dared not to harm a mage severely in any case.
When they saw Aaron wasnt making a move they gained more confidence.
Was he going to fight them with a sword? He looked young. Even if he had good skills, how could he manage to fight off such superior numbers? It was hopeless.
Even Adam knew it would hardly buy him anytime. He just hated seeing him stand like that while everyone else was trying so hard. He thought of pushing Aaron to confront the guards, but he did it after saying once only. Like he had already planned on that.
Aaron stood there waiting for the guards.
The guards reached Aaron finally.
"Just surrender. We are eight and dont want to bully with numbers. Plus the sword might hurt you if you resist. "
The guards since childhood held mages in high regards and were fearful of them as they were adults as they understood mages held power far beyond them.
They asked Aaron to give up for those reasons.
"Dont worry about me. Use your swords. "
Aaron replied to their comment.
The guards were hesitant. But one of the guards finally gathered his courage and took a swing at Aaron with his sword. It was more of a testing strike rather than an assault. He wanted to check whether Aaron knew any sword skills or not. If not he would understand the difference between the two and might give up.
As he striked Aaron he saw Aaron too raise his sword to meet his strike. It was rather a confident looking move.
The guard watched the sword meet his sword. Instead of the usual clashing noise what happened left him speechless.
Aaron's sword struck his sword and just went through it. It cleanly cleaved his sword into two.
"You are disarmed, you should move out. My blade is pretty sharp. I might accidently harm you if you continue."
Sharp my ***. No swords were that sharp. You didnt even put any effort in that strike.
What happened left everyone with their mouth hanging. The guards, Adam, Ron and Elizabeth, the mage association mages, White Brother amd even Thunder king.
This display, how did he do it? Elementalists used spells which was flashy in nature. This spell or whatever that Aaron used didnt even seem to register in anyone's radar but had an effect which was stronger.
What did it mean to cut steel so strongly? What would it do a human body?
The guard moved non chalantly.
Another guard stepped up to see whether that was a lucky strike by mage or not.
Same result.
"You are disarmed, you may move out of the way." Aaron said the same thing with an even expression.
The results were particularly shocking to Adam. He was arrogant by nature and according to him he had kind of forced Aaron to fight. He thought he was just filling up the numbers but he had surprised him with the results. He understood that Aaron still might be overwhelmed by the superiorty of numbers of the guard. But it was still an effective display of his prowess. Usually the production class mages werent adapt to fighting, but Aaron had found an unique way to use his magic. Ofcourse it was magic which made it possible. There were no other explanation.
"Forgive us, but we have no choice other than to use the number advantage against you. The magic you use is almost impossible for us to overcome one by one. " The guards still guarded their tongue against the mage, but they were no fools. They knew they had the numbers advantage against Aaron and decided to use it.
Time had come for Aaron to test his sword skills. If he could overcome this trial, the scar left within his heart from last time would be healed to an extent.
