Library

There was a large temperature change between the outside and the inside of the castle.

Amin took a deep breath and his eyes grew unfocused. He remembered working for a wealthy old lady whose house smelled like this, like mildew and wet rock.

The old lady was the founder of a huge conglomerate and, of course, had not chosen an heir among her twenty some children and grandchildren.

She was an odd lady- she did not like contact with others, thus she lived mostly by herself unless she was visited by her children.

That was why, when one of her children grew impatient, they had the brilliant idea of hiring a assassin such as himself... which was the whole reason why he was there, acting as the 'butler' for the old lady.

Amin had taken care of lady, thoughtfully learning her routine and assisting her with her everyday tasks better than anyone else could.

Thus, he felt slightly remorseful after he tipped the poison in her daily cup of tea and not stopping her as she tipped it back and smiled at him, saying that his tea was 'as good as it always is'.

She had a heart attack that night, and no one had guessed that it was induced by the carefully poured liquid in her afternoon tea.

Amin had sorrowfully attended the funeral, his head bowed to hid his unshed "tears".

The relative had paid him the rest of the money the next morning, and Amin was on his happy way back to Devin's house, telling his parents that the had completed the oh-so-very important trip for his 'job'.

All of the personalities worked together to ensure that nobody was suscpicious of Devin's activities.

To the outside world, Devin was a well-adjusted, bright, and law-abiding citizen.

Only the five of them- and perhaps the other two personalities- knew that they were all wrong.

Releasing himself from his inner thoughts, Amin looked around.

The castle immediately opened up to a large hallway, dozens of doors on either side of him.

Just a glance and Amin knew that there was no one there. Odd.

He casually walked past a few doors and knocked on them. If the sound was deep, then he opened the door to check if it were a library.

If the sound was thin, then he kept on walking.

It took more than a few minutes until he finally opened the right door, and the magnificent library of the castle was revealed to his eyes.

Hundreds of bookshelves line each and every wall, and there were four different levels to the room.

The first level was the ground floor, and Amin could see that the books were all relatively new, which brought even more suspicion in his mind.

Wasn't this supposed to be a Xianxia world?

How come it seemed to be more modern than anything.

He took a deep breath and looked further, checking to see if anyone was in the other levels.

Each level could be accessed by stairs on either side, and bookshelves made them almost as hard to navigate as a maze.

Quietening for a few minutes, Amin concluded that nobody was there.

'Strange,' Willow said.

'I know,' Amin replied.

'There should be people, shouldn't there? I mean, it holds information and information is-'

'Power, Willow. I know, remember? What neither of us know, however, is why there's nobody here.'

'Shut up and let me talk, Amin.'

'Too late, Devin's going to wake up soon, I have to get rolling.'

'Meh.'

Amin walked towards the nearest bookshelf, and he trailed his fingertips on the books' spines until he stopped at a certain book.

A book that had a blue spine.

A book that was familiar.

A book that even Devin had on his bookshelf back on Earth.

Shakespeare.

"What the f*ck?" Amin muttered, his mind whirring at the speed of light. He couldn't understand. Why was this book here? Just what was going on?

Before Amin could even ask Willow, Willow spoke up. 'Is that... Shakespeare?'

Amin nodded, his eyes still focused on that book.

'How can that be?!' Willow's shock was palpable, and Amin could only shake his head in confusion.

'I don't know about this world anymore.' He looked back up at the bookshelf and returned the book. He went further down, checking to see if he noticed anymore authors from Earth.

Hemmingway.

Mark Twain.

Woolf.

The more he walked, the more bewildered he became.

Willow's voice was shaky as she said, 'What do you think is happening here?'

Amin could only reply with a shake of his head. He didn't know.

'What's wrong?' Mo Tao's sleepy voice cut into the gloomy atmosphere between Amin and WIllow.

Amin glanced back at the bookshelf and pointed towards a book by Charles Darwin.

'Well, f*ck.' Mo Tao said, all of the sleepiness gone from his voice. 'Wasn't this supposed to be a Xianxia world!?!'

Amin could only shake his head in confusion. He gazed at the books for a few more seconds before Crystal's shout brought him back.

'Onii-chan! Hurry, Devin's going to wake u-'

Then, Amin was switched for Devin, and Devin became utterly and thoroughly confused.

It's happened again.

Devin couldn't believe it.

............... 1st person POV, Devin

I glanced down at my hands and at my stomach.

I was fine.

It was after I had confirmed this that I finally looked around at my surroundings.

This wasn't fine.

I had to take a deep breath before I exhaled, trying to calm down the beating of my heart.

I thought that after I transmigrated, my strange 'episodes' would disappear, but instead it seems to have only gotten weirder.

Thinking for a long moment, I had to forcefully calm myself down once again. It didn't matter. I just had to deal with it as I've always been doing.

Besides, I was one h*ll of an actor.

Straightening myself up, I looked around at my surroundings. I was in a library, and every time I breathed I noticed a puff of white smoke coming out of my mouth.

It was cold.
