I push away and step back and Fig growls. Leon smiles and says "I'm a gentleman Syn and I only bite if you want me to. Follow me to my office we need to talk." He turns and walks away. I take a few deep breaths and decided to follow him. "Syn be careful with him. I don't know if we can trust him and he's powerful." Fig says softly. "I know Fig I can feel it but he's always been a trustworthy person so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt." Fig nods but stays alert.

I follow him all the way to his office and he shuts the door closing all the music and noise out. As a human, I've done this before but now everything was different and my heart was racing. "Have a seat Syn. Do you or your friend want something to drink?" He asks as he walks over to his large desk. Everything in here was dark and rich in color. I always thought the red plush carpet was a bold choice before but now I think it's useful for him this way being blood red and all.. "No we're fine.. thank you though," I say and sit as he sits.

"I'll get to the point Syn. You're one of my people and I have a feeling something other than a normal lightning strike happened three months ago. What happened to you Syn?" He sits and waits for me. It was only a little over three weeks for me in the other world but here I was gone for three months. I swallow and say "I went to another world.. I was dying but then someone gave me something and it saved my life but also changed me. Before I go any farther... Do you know of the light and dark fae princes?" I ask uncertain. He tilts his head and says "Yes, I know of them and I don't care for either one. I'm guessing this has something to do with them?" Leon asks leaning back.

I nod and ask "You aren't on their side?" He gives me a dry look and says "Syn, I have nothing to do with them and I am probably the only one in this world who can keep you away from both of them so stop beating around the bush." I give him a weak smile. I don't know what I'm doing anymore.. everything was happening too quickly but I felt like I really could trust Leon. "The light fae prince Ryder wants to kill me because he wanted what was given to me to survive. The trees didn't want him to have it so they gave it to me. While running from him I ran into the dark fae prince Rune and he saved me but then made it his life mission to keep me safe and that meant keeping me locked in his castle." I was rambling but I couldn't help it.

I felt like I was panicking so I took a deep breath and said "It took everything I had to come back here Leon.. I had no idea this world was so different. You, the police... everything isn't the way I use to see it and I just want to be me. I just want to be Syn the DJ." My eyes sting but I refuse to cry. Leon's face softens and he walks over to me. He pulls me up and hugs me and for the first time, I cry. He rubs my back as Fig rubs the side of my neck.

I pull away and he lets me a little but grabs both my arms making me look at him "You are one of mine Syn, Human or.. what you are now. I won't let Ryder kill you and I won't let Rune drag you back do you understand? I will protect you Syn and your life." His grey eyes are looking more like silver and I realize he's upset. "Thank you, Leon, but I don't want to pull you into this as well and I don't think Rune will come here," I say as Leon steps back around his desk and sits down.

"Ryder may send his men Syn and I will deal with them if he does but Rune? Rune shouldn't come here unless there's something you haven't told me.." He looks at me and my mind goes back to that night and the threats Rune threw out. I shake my head and say "No, nothing." Leon looks at me suspiciously but nods and says "Okay, you can keep working here with the same pay and If anything happens you tell me immediately understand?" I nod and get up to leave. I stop and turn around to see him watching me with a look in his eyes I didn't quite understand and say "Thank you Leon.." He gives me a dark grin and I leave.
