The Cave

As I walk into the garden the fairies are quick to greet us with laughter that sounded like tinkling bells. The laughter soon fades as they come close enough to see Fig's sleeping figure. I stop as several fairies fly up to Fig gently touching him.

Even though I can't understand them like Fig can.. I can still tell they're concerned. More and more fairies make their way over and before I know it every fairy in the garden was either on us or flying around us. The fairies begin pulling at my dress towards the wooded area that leads to the cave.

Without even thinking about it I let them lead us away. Ren suddenly appears before us and before he can say anything I say "It's alright.. they just want to help Fig. We won't leave the grounds okay? I'll be right back." Ren seems to hesitate but nods and steps to the side, allowing us to pass him.

Ren's face showed his shock and it quickly turned into wonder as he watched the fairies lead us past him. "This.. this isn't normal.. why are they.." Ren says but I continue walking. I couldn't answer him even if I wanted to. I don't really know why they're helping us but I'm grateful that they are. We follow the large group of fairies and I look down to the few still on Fig. They were gently petting him.

As we went further into the woods it grew darker. The fairies begin to give off a slight glow making it look like moving Christmas lights.. only way more colorful. As we drew closer to the cave some of the fairies blocked Ren, holding him back. Ren seemed conflicted but decided not to follow.

I felt the familiar power wash over me as we entered the cave but this time I didn't stop to view the glowing plants. I went straight to the water and watched as all the fairies flew over to it before us. They hovered over the dark water and I watched in wonder as their glowing colors danced on the dark, smooth surface.

I can hear their tinkling voices calling me to the water so I do just that. I gently lay Fig down for a moment and strip down to my underwear. I quickly pick him up and watch in wonder as my foot touches the water. Last time the water looked like the night sky when it was disturbed but this.. this was so much different.

My foot caused the water to ripple and suddenly the water began to glow. I take another step and feel something like electrical warmth spreading up my legs. I walk to the middle and only stop when the water reached my shoulders. The water was such a bright blue it was hard to keep looking at it.

I hold Fig close and watch as the bright water enters his little body. I look at my hands holding Fig and notice that both of us were beginning to glow like the water. My heart raced and I push my fear away. This water felt amazing.. even my headache was beginning to fade. Something under the water moves and I quickly pull Fig to me while my eyes search the glowing water. What in the world...
