A Heartfelt Thank You

Chapter 8: Edited

*Continuation of Flashback*

Meanwhile, the culprit had no idea as to what she had done to his chaotic and sexually deprived state of mind.

She merely assessed the man behind her who was looking intensely at her like a predator who was about to gobble her up in one go.

"Wasn't it Mother who comforted and slept beside me?" Her brows furrowed with disappointment upon seeing the actual person, who was a man handsome enough to be sought by all women, embracing her. Her mind became more confused as she contemplated what had actually happened after she met Mathilda.

While she was staring at him with huge concentration, the girl forgot about the fact that she was still holding on to his hard rod, that she was currently being embraced by him, and that she was on the verge of being eaten up.

But with her innocent mind just like a child's, she did not know about the relations between a man and a woman, more so the physical relations related to pleasure.

Please, do take note they're still 17 at the moment.

When she stopped in her tracks and stared at him innocently, Kevin literally forgot about eating her up.

He could not help but adore her confused expression that was as cute as a baby's.

Heck, he even felt like he could just stare into her eyes forever without a care in the world.

After quite some time of staring at him and vice versa, the girl was finally able to recall that it was the young man beside her who comforted her, not her mother.

He even hugged and slept with her, because of her own selfish feelings!

When she was alone and when she had no one to depend on, these two strangers (Mathilda and Kevin) were the ones comforting her. They were the first people she relied on. They were the first people who eased her burdens and prevented her from breaking down.

Because of this, she owed this young man and that old nurse big time.

Remembering what had actually happened, she concentrated on the mysterious man before her who looked very much like her classmate, Kyle.

But it was obvious that the person beside her was not Kyle.

Call it instincts, their different styles, or whatnot, she just knew he was not Kyle.

Thinking that he looked exactly like Kyle, she recalled some teachers talking about the class rankings last semester. They commented on how the twins were so smart that, for them, they could be called geniuses.

Then, something dawned upon her, making her widen her eyes and making Kevin confused.

Stupid!

They were twins! He was Kyle's twin!

It was so obvious. Why didn't she think of that?

Was sleep resulting in her getting more slow and stupid? She better man up her delayed reaction before it could literally kill her.

Her facial expression made Kevin curious and amused.

He thought to himself, "What was she thinking of now?"

He really wanted to pry open her mind and figure out all her light and dark secrets.

Apparently, Kevin once again forgot her hands still gripping onto Kevin Junior. If he remembered, who knew what might happen?

[Ahem!]

With genuine concern shown in his face, Kevin asked, "Sweetheart, is something the matter? Are you still down from a while ago?"

With his question, she was brought back to reality.

'This is dangerous,' she thought.

She could be easily killed by others at this moment and she would not even realize it! She had to stop her habit of overthinking before it got worse. She engraved that thought at the back of her head.

After engraving that thought, she recalled his question, which made her remember all the suffering he had to put up with until now, because of her own selfish feelings.

Since she was the type who was socially awkward and quiet but honest to the core, she put all her feelings into two words, "Thank you…"

What was his name again?

Well, all she did in school was either sleep or eat then sleep. How would she know?

Luckily, Kevin unknowingly saved her from her internal 'Question and Answer Drama' by asking her, "What for?"

She replied in a grateful manner, "Thank you for... everything."

Well, she was not good with words. What could she say other than that? She didn't remember anything in reality apart from his warm embrace.

But that simple embrace meant 'the world' to her.

Immediately after that, she looked downwards and immensely blushed at her next words when she realized how embarrassing they were. In fact, she never thought she would actually say something so endearing.

It was not like her at all.

Where was the poker face when you needed it the most?

Unfortunately, she had to say it. So she strengthened her resolve.

With her ears, lips, and cheeks all painted in a rosy tint, she looked up to him and spoke in a very soft manner, "And for… not... leaving me."

Out of nowhere, roses bloomed here, lilies there, and flowers everywhere...

She immediately looked away from him. This time, her whole face reddened. It was obvious based on the fact that her entire ear, which was visible to him, had reddened. This proved just how inexperienced she was in this department.

Badump. Badump.

Right then, Kevin was dumbstruck. No, to more accurately put it, he was cupid-struck! He just realized that he fell for the same woman a third time.

Was that even possible?

If he tried to understand the meaning of love, Kevin knew his head would explode due to the overflowing theories and experiences he had in his brain. Being a genius also had its own shortcomings.

[Yes, he was just as stupid as Kyle in this aspect.]

For now, he decided to just go with the flow and blindly fall in love with her, because that was his destiny anyway.

For his whole life, he lived believing he was a free individual who was unconfined from those so-called rules that life constantly threw upon him. Yet now, he did not want to break free from this sweet trap that fate threw upon him.

No, he would never break free, because he already tasted it. He was addicted.

'There's no going back.'

While the young man secretly resolved to possess the girl in front of him, the victim of all of this was completely oblivious to her dreaded fate in the near future.

'What would have happened if she was alone at that time?'

She shivered upon that thought.

Not only her gratitude, but she also owed this man her life!

Unfortunately for the girl, Kevin was more of a dark man rather than a gentleman, who would use all means to acquire what he wanted.

Even before he had helped her, deep in his mind, he had an ulterior motive. He knew what he wanted in return. Her entire life was never enough. He also wanted her heart!

Of course, she'd find out about it soon enough...

As she strengthened her resolve to express her innermost feelings, the girl disregarded her tomato face and looked him in the eye with the most beautiful expression.

"Thank you!"

She gently gazed at him and displayed the loveliest smile with pearly-white teeth.
