Kael Cor wakes to find himself in a dungeon, as a newly awakened vampire. He has to struggle through rules and social structures that he has no understanding or memories of to survive.

 With pure luck and a system that wants him to succeed for its own ends, he climbs to a position of power within the vampire community. With enemies outside the dungeon they are all living in, breathing down their backs, and enemies within, threatening the hard won peace he has managed to aquire, Kael must find a way to succeed in the life he wants for those he cares about.

"Husband, how long are you going to pretend you're asleep?" Asha asked me as she poked my cheek


"As long as I need." I answered back, raising the blanket higher as I buried myself deeper under the covers of my bed. 


"They're still going to be waiting for you, I get it, you're nervous about meeting your kids for the first time. But if you don't name there, and carry out the ritual of new birth, things could get a little complicated. They're hungry." Xaseah said as she pulled the blankets off my body. 


I opened my eyes and watched them loom over my face with amused smiles etched across theirs. They obviously found my cowardice funny, nut I guess they were right, I had to see his through.
