Defending The City of Toul (2)

Carne desert, approximately 100 km from Toul.

"It's too hot!"

"This is the ninth time you said that. Would you just be quite, it's not like you're walking."

The large beautiful woman that curently sitting on a throne like chair is the commanding officer of the 100.000 uruk-kai, Commander Vanesa. While the slightly chubby man that keep fanning himself, is the vice commander, Captain Jaques. The two of them, and eight of their aide, is currently on top of an oliphant, a giant elephant like beast.

The oliphant is a giant war mount, the can grow to around 9 to 15 meter in height, and up to 30 ton in weight on their adulthood. Their thick skin is capable to deflect a bullet from a soldier piston gun. The back of an oliphant can be installed with a large saddles, which can contain 10 people excluding the two riders. Their ivory and trunk can easily break through 5 meter wide wall, if they have enough speed. And just like the uruk-kai, they can move without resting, as long they stay hydrated.

"Unlike you commander, I sweat rather easily, and this heat is just not helping. I wish there's some new invention that can blow out cold air. And this swaying didn't help at all, it only make me sicker."

Hearing her right hand man protest's, Commander Vanesa remember something. "I heard the Eldians already have that kind of device."

"Really!? Where do you hear it from commander?"

"Remember those Eldians envoy? I manage to extract some information about their technologies from them. Unfortunately, none of them are engineer, only politician. So we can't force them to build something for us. They're basicly have no use to us. Although, hearing their story about their king is a good laugh."

"What made you said that?"

"Just listen to it. A genius in every field, can even take down one of the six great dragon single handedly, then made the said dragon into his spouse, and the most unbelievable thing is, he has a weapon that can destroy a large city in one strike. What a joke."

"Seems to be a far fetch to me. Even if I heard it from you commander, I'll still have a hard time believing it."

"Hah, you can say that again. Anyway, we're almost at Toul, we can rest there after we finish cleaning it up."

Two hours later, the uruk-kai army stop their march 3 km away from Toul, at the small sand hill south east of the city. When Vanesa saw the city, she surprise to see a dozen of lines of a tall barb wire fances surrounding the city, with 200 meters distance between each fence. At first she found it odd, that she didn't spot even a single city guard. But then, Vanesa later dissmised it, after she hear panic noises inside the city.

After short consideration, Vanesa decided to order the uruk-kai to clear out the fences, instead of using the oliphants. It is a wise choice on Vanesa's side. There is a case back on earth, where an elephant is trying to go through a concertina wire, a military grade barb wire. It's no surprise when the wire then stuck onto it's legs. After the locals manage to remove the barb wire out off the elephant's legs, they later found out that the wound caused by the barb wire, made the elephant unable to walk for few days.

The one is currently on Vanesa's way, is a 3 meters tall triple concertina wire fence, that has a 2 meters deep steel stakes. With that depth, the oliphant might be able to run trough it. But the blades will dig onto the oliphant's legs, and will hurt it bad enough to made it fall down.

At first, the uruk-kai try to cut the wire using their large sword, but with no vail. Then, they try to pull the stakes out. But they can't even hold the stakes, because the stakes also had blades on them. Finally, they manage to cut the wire by melt it using fire magic. After finish clearing out the first line, they move onto the next.

On the other hand, on the Toul city side, Gwen is currently giving order to the city guards.

"Looks like the concertina wire can't slow them down long enough. Everybody stay low, stay silent, and don't ruin the surprise. No one move until I say so."

The radio is silent. But Gwen know, every person that on the defense line is on edge.

Suddenly, when the uruk-kai pass the second line, an explosion erupt.

'BOOM'

It was an S-mine exploded. After it bounce out, it manage to kill twenty unlucky uruk-kai. The sound of explosion, made another uruk-kai look toward it. But then, a 'click' sound can be heard and he can feel that he has steped on something. When he remove his feet, a bounching mine bounce out and exploded near his chest.

The explosion doesn't stop. It keep happen a few dozens time, in random places. And when the series of explosions stoped, so does the uruk-kai's movement. Seeing this, Gwen then sneer.

"Heh, few fireworks and they freezes. Feli, could you please detonate the first line and the second line."

Feli didn't answer. She just press two buttons with the number 1 and 2 on a remote that look like a walkie talkie.

Another series of explosions then erupt. It was the claymores that were placed near the first and second line of barb wire being detonated. When exploded, the claymores ball bearings will travel at the speed of 1.200 m/s. With that force, the ball bearings can even go through three line of uruk-kai before it stop at the forth. But Gwen's 'greetings' doesn't stop there.

"All Striker, move out! Grenade volley! Rapid-fire shots! Make a courtain of fire! Turn them into a bloody meat paste!!"

After hearing Gwen's order, the dwarfs then remove the camouflage that cover them, and began shooting their Mk 47's on the roof tops.

The 40mm HE grenade rounds keep on exploding at the uruk-kai's location.
