Harvest and Physical Training

A Farmer was a simple profession. After the busy planting period, Red only needed to maintain the condition of his field.

It had been several weeks since Red planted his field. He started by checking each rice terrace and removed weeds if he found any. This process would need to be repeated every 2 weeks.

Most times, he needed to remove the weeds by his own hand. This was because he needed to remove the weeds until the root. Red also needed to replace the dying paddy plants with the new one from the hatchery bed.

Other than removing weeds, Red also needed to control the water supply. The field couldn't have too many or too less water. The paddy needed 5 cm deep water in the beginning. He would increase it to 10-20 cm after 8-45 days. In the end, when it was almost the harvest period, he would increase the water until 25 cm deep.

Red also purchased some organic fertilizers for his field. Other than farmers, there were few people who worked as a herder for rich people from the city. Red could purchase the manure from them. Other than that, while it might be disgusting for some, human manure also often used by the villagers.

Red also made some composts from the weeds and leaves that he found in the forest. He mixed some manures to make it. Even Nong Min often did this when he couldn't purchase the fertilizer. Red also captured some earthworms to make the process better.

This action was found strange by the other villagers. Most farmers in the village used factory-made fertilizers unless they lacked money. Meanwhile, Red intentionally decided not using them. While factory-made fertilizers would give him a bigger harvest. It would damage the nutrients in his field.

Red wouldn't stay in the village for only a harvest period. Nong Min's body would require years of hard training to become a cultivator.

He also didn't use insecticide. While other farmers used them, Red believed in nature. The insecticide would destroy the balance. On the other hand, he tried to find the natural predator of the pests.

Red was also a 10-Star Zoologist. He knew lots of information about common animals. While there were countless species, they had similar characteristics.

He knew this decision would impact his harvest. Nevertheless, he believed this would reduce the contamination of his harvest.

Red had decided that he wouldn't sell it to the mass purchaser like Nong Min. He planned to sell some in the city directly to rich people and the top restaurant. Should he mention that Red was also a 10-star merchants?

Red believed in his harvest. Even the Dragon was defeated when they competed on their harvest. It was only that the stupid dragon didn't want to admit his defeat.

While he was waiting for the harvest period, Red didn't rest. Red forced his Nong Min's body into the limit. He even took some boulders from the mountain. With his Universe, it wasn't hard for him to bring the boulders.

His training routine was chopping the woods, brought it to the village, and sold it for some small amounts of money for his daily necessities. He also ran around the mountain while bringing heavy boulder. This boulder would be increased the more power he had.

As a 10-Star martial art teacher and 10-Star physical trainer, Red had already prepared a long-term training for his body. He believed it would only take him 10 years to turn this body into a cultivator.

Red came home every day after 23.00, woke at 04.00 the next day. He continued this training and farming lifestyle. His body started to grow some extra muscle. He also needed to purchase more foods for himself.

It was a peaceful and fun experience for Red. He needed to train again from the bottom.

Time moved fast. It was already 120 days after the cultivating period. It was the time where every farmer was waiting for. It was the harvest time. During this time, the farmers would take turns to protect their fields together. They would even take their family to hunt the rats and to scare birds.

On the other hand, Red wasn't that busy. He had released some snakes into his fields. These snakes were hunted by other farmers, but Red used them as the natural predator.

Red also sometimes personally captured the mouse to increase his agility. If there were some who managed to outrun him, he was a 10-Star hunter and 10-Star zoologist. He had prepared natural predators and pest traps for those pests.

"How is your potential harvest, Nong Min?" Red was woken from his meditation. It was Nong Xie.

"It is decent." Red knew his harvest would be less than other villagers.

"What is that?" Nong Xie looked into the strange humanoid sculptures in Nong Min's field.

"That?"

"It's scarecrows. That would drive the birds away." Nong Min said. Other than rats, the birds were the biggest pest. Some small birds would try to steal the rice grains from hardworking farmer.

"How could it work?"

"I will only need to move this thread." Red said. He jerked the thread near his feet. Some noises were heard. It was some metal items slammed into each other. The birds who were happily stealing the grains started to run.

"If there is enough wind, it would ring by itself." Red said. This was one of the tricks he learned during his trip to a mortal planet. He was confused about why people in Novantura village didn't use it.

They continued to speak for a while before they returned to the village. Tomorrow would be the harvest day.

People in the village loved to help each other. While Red knew he and other field cultivators could harvest the rice field by themselves. It was a heritage custom to ask for neighbors help to harvest a field. It was the elderly, the disabled, and the kids who helped with the harvest. The farmers would share their harvest with the helpers and the village for maintaining things in the village.

It wasn't strange since they all came from the same roots. The villagers were all one very big family.

Red felt happy seeing the happy people harvesting his field. [This life had some meaning.] He thought. Nong Min memory had started to influence him more and more.

A harvest celebration was hosted at the village center. Nong Min sat on his seat.

His harvest wasn't as good as other farmers. He only got 100 tons of rice grains. Other farmers with similar field had over 150 tons rice grains. However, everyone was surprised with Nong Min's grain. Even Red was surprised. He didn't know Master Rabbink's meaning of perfection.

The grains were clean and plump. It was a bit larger, but sweet when it was cooked. The pandanuses smelled even fragrant. Since he had given some to the village for yearly tax, it was his rice grains which were cooked for the celebration. Everyone in the village enjoyed it.

There had been several purchasing merchants tried to purchase his grains. However, Red knew his paddy quality. He decided to process it themselves.

While in the outside world, it seemed that he only had 150 tons of rice grains. He had farmed even more paddy plants in his own universe. He used the farming as a training for his body. The rice grains from his plants were even softer and better. It was close to become a spirit treasure.

Master Rabbink said that it was because of his large Core Energy. Large core energy would radiate to the universe. It would bring growth to the energy in the air. Without competition, his paddy plants would soon turn into spiritual plants.

"Do you want to sell your grains in the city, Nong Min?" A young man came to sit next to Nong Min. His name was Nong Gie. He was a former Novantura villager.

Nong Gie went to the city and worked in a store there. He returned because of the harvest festival. It was common for people in the city to return to their hometown during this period. They would pray to their ancestors and cleaned their tombs. The villager did that one day before the harvest day.

"Yes. I want to sell my rice grains."

"I have some places that I could introduce to you. They were the best rice mill companies in the city."

"Thank you for your help, Nong Gie."

"It is nothing, Nong Min. Tomorrow I will return with the merchant caravan at 08.00. Do not forget to bring your best samples!" He said.

Red returned to his home. He pretended to store his grains inside his home. However, he had taken them into his universe. It was a very large storage ring for him.

Red looked into his first planet. He felt satisfied. All eyes could see there were rice fields. He came to a field of young rice paddy plants. He used his Growth skill.

All core energies in the air seemed to gather near Nong Min. He could sense his body screamed for the sensation of energy, yet his body couldn't touch it.

The young paddy plants soon turned bigger and bigger. They seemed to have heavy loads and bowed to the owner of the universe. They paddy was already mature and ready to be harvested.

[I finally managed to increase the growth for a full field.] Nong Min saw the result. In the beginning, he could only increase a bit. After every skill level up, he managed to add more area to his skill effect. The growth was also faster.

Nong Min harvested that field and took a small bag of his grains. It would be his sample for tomorrow.

[Tomorrow, I will see the city.] He thought.
