The things which were happening around, made Ved feel uneasy. For the first time in his life, he felt this kind of fear. He never felt any kind of distress while fighting those thugs in his city, but here, he was not sure.
What was this place, and what kind of people were they? Were they some kind of superheroes from those famous movies that he liked to watch? He always considered himself as a superhero-in-training with his super strength and miraculous healing power, but after seeing them in action, the strings of fear started strumming in his heart.
For the first time in his life, he wanted to run away from this kind of situation. This situation was not his usual cup of tea. A giant firebird, mysterious frost blocks, and formidable fireballs that can grow in size and engulf everything which came in its range while laying ash in its wake, these were all on too high of a level for him.
He only had a bit more strength compared to an average human, and he can heal his injuries at a much faster rate than them, but that was nothing while comparing to these guys. They were the real deal. If he would stay too long in this place, he could convert into dead meat for real this time. He can't afford to die here; he had a family waiting for him at home.
Ved was waiting for an opportunity to get out of this hellish place.
Not a single living being could be spotted in the vicinity of the leader and that old man. The curiosity which got everybody excited to watch them fight seemed to have been expunged from their minds. Everyone ran towards wherever they could find shelter. They were trying to survive this calamity, and in the process, many of them had already lost their lives.
The stage had been set for the final blow as the leader sent all the spiritual energy that he could refine from his Nabhi Chakra to that fire dragon. The refined energy seemed to be too violent as the fire dragon screeched in agony after receiving that ferocious energy. It was too wild to bear.
The fire dragon spread his ginormous wings into the air and soared towards the heavens. Its screeches were testing the limits of the eardrums of everyone who heard the sound. They all put their hands on their ears to protect them from that vicious sound.
After a few moments passed, its screeches came to a halt as the entire space seemed to have fallen soundless. It appeared as if the fire dragon had finally achieved equilibrium of that wild spiritual energy. It looked down on the ground towards that old man and let out a deafening roar.
The old man knew that this was the endgame. If he couldn't manage to finish it off this time, it would be impossible for him to escape this place in one piece. If that happens, then he won't be able to save the young mistress.
He hurriedly created a few ice blocks around his palm and got ready to face the fury of that fire dragon.
The fire dragon drew back its imposing wings and flew down towards that old man with its maximum speed. It had gotten the order from its master to burn this whole place into ashes. It flew rapidly, but suddenly, just like before, an ice block came straight towards its face.
The fire dragon tried to change its course by leaning towards its right, but another couple of ice blocks came from behind that previous ice block and covered its escape route. The ice blocks were thrown in a manner that it would be impossible to dodge from this close of a distance for the fire dragon.
The leader laughed after seeing those ice blocks trying to stop the fire dragon. He turned towards that old man and mockingly said.
"Haven't you learned your lesson, old man? Your pathetic ice blocks would not be enough to stop the fire dragon. You, your granddaughter, and everyone else will all lose their lives here in the blistering blaze of its fireball."
"Who is trying to stop it? I will annihilate it. Just watch." The old man had a cunning smile on his face as he matched the leader's gaze and answered.
This provocation came as the final nail in the coffin for the temper of the leader. He lost his cool as he turned towards that fire dragon and ordered it in a loud voice.
"Attack…, leave no one alive."
The fire dragon heard his master's loud call. It opened its mouth widely and started to create a fireball, just like that previous attack.
The old man's eyes lit up as he saw it opening its mouth for the fireball attack. He was waiting patiently for this moment. All the hard work which he had to do, all the humiliation which he had to endure, all the traps which he had to lay down, was everything for this moment.
When the fireball would be in its final stage of completion, the Kendrak of the fire dragon will be visible to the naked eyes once again. He would have to seize that moment and strike it with his purest and strongest attack.
The fireball was becoming larger than the previous one, and it was giving off an ominous aura. It was made up of the ferocious spiritual energy refined by the leader's Nabhi Chakra. If it would manage to explode, then this place would become an ash-land. Everything, be it person, animals, or buildings in the radius of few miles, would simply reduce to ashes.
The blazing color of the fire dragon started to diminish a little bit as it was pouring all of its energy into that attack. Finally, the fireball was on the verge of completion.
After watching the diminishing color of the fire dragon, the old man started to get himself ready for the final attack. He inhaled a lot of air through his mouth and looked at the dragon vehemently. He poured out some of his refined spiritual energy from his palms and started covering his whole body; otherwise, he would turn into roasted meat for that fire dragon.
A thin layer of frost took shape around his whole body in the form of armor as he tapped lightly onto the ground and jumped towards the sky. He had to get as near as possible to the fire dragon if he wanted to attack its Kendrak.
An ominous feeling crept into the leader's heart after seeing the old man jumping towards the fire dragon. What was he attempting to do? Did he have something which could harm the fire dragon? There were too many variables that he couldn't understand, so he jumped right behind the old man.
The old man used a movement technique that he learned from his master and increased his speed in the air. He didn't want to miss the right time to attack.
The fireball was almost at completion when suddenly the old man's body trembled violently as he saw the flickering red light on the inside upper part of the mouth of the fire dragon.
That was it; that was the Kendrak, which he was searching for all this while. The old man brought forth his secret weapon that he was forming inside his body from the beginning of this fight.
A deep blue colored spiral needle appeared on his right palm. It exuded a strange and mysterious chill around itself. It was the compressed edition of the purest spiritual energy which he could form in this dire situation, with the element of water embedded in it.
The fatal threat that it exuded must've been felt by that fire dragon and that leader both, as they had a frightened look on their faces.
After coming in close range to that fire dragon, the old man fired the spiral needle towards that surprised fire dragon. The spiral needle was on the target as it proceeded forward towards the opened mouth of that fire dragon.
After seeing that blue spiral needle, the leader was surprised to the extent of his mind becoming numb. His instincts told him that it was a dangerous thing.
Who was this old man? He used a rare movement technique to move swiftly into the air, and now this was not the spiritual energy that an ordinary element-user could possess. What was his background?
When his eyes saw the needle moving swiftly towards the fire dragon, he woke up from his dazed state. He shouted frantically.
"Dodge…damn it."
The fire dragon complied as it leaned a little towards the other side from the incoming needle. The needle went by his mouth with a swoosh sound. If it was just half an inch towards the left, it would've pierced its mouth.
That was close. If he reacted a bit late, it would've been really dangerous for the fire dragon. The leader heaved a sigh of relief when he saw the fire dragon get out of the way of the incoming needle at the last moment. He turned to look towards that old man, but there was no one at that spot.
The old man used his movement technique to its fullest and approached the fire dragon in a flash. He was standing face to face of that fire dragon.
The moment fireball was completed, the fire dragon tried to close its mouth instantly. But the old man threw the other spiral needle which he created for a situation like this, towards the Kendrak of that fire dragon with his full force.
The face of that leader went ashen as he was incapable of doing anything at the moment. He had another one? This seems to be an extremely dense spiritual energy attack, and he could manage to form another one during the battle.
There was no time to dodge the attack from that distance, so he could only pray that the fire dragon will close its mouth before the needle could arrive.
When the fire dragon closed its mouth, the needle disappeared too. The leader stopped his breathing as he glanced at the fire dragon with his worried eyes. After a few moments, nothing happened, and the fireball remained as it was.
The leader laughed out loudly like a mad man. His fire dragon had just averted a terrible calamity towards itself. He looked towards that old man who fell to the ground after having overexerted himself. The old man couldn't even stand up after that sneak attack.
"Hahahahahaha… You've used everything in your power to stop the fire dragon, but what did you accomplish other than making a fool of yourself in the process?"
"Now, what will you do if I order the fire dragon to simply send the fireball towards you?" The leader had gotten his voice back. He knew that to stop the fire dragon, the old man must've used all of his spiritual energy. Now he was just like a normal person whom he could destroy with a simple slap.
"Huh! Why don't you try?" The old man collected the strength left in his body and said in a shaky voice. He still had a cunning smile on his face.
"What?" The leader asked annoyingly. He looked towards that old man, but his face didn't seem to resemble the face of someone who had just lost a fight. His face was still full of confidence. That made him irritated.
"Try giving it an order. You can tell him to do whatever you want with me." The old man replied. His face was brimming with self-assurance at the moment.
The leader had heard enough of his blabbering. He turned towards the fire dragon and ordered him in a loud voice.
"Burn him alive."
But to his surprise, the fire dragon didn't even move an inch from his spot. He was standing still in the air with the fireball burning in front of him. The leader felt something was amiss as he tried to order it again.
"Use your scorching flame and burn this whole place down."
But still, there was no response from the fire dragon. It stood firmly at its spot.
Anxiousness filled his heart as the leader ran towards the old man and grabbed him by his neck. He was panicking inside as he asked the old man.
"What did you do? What did you do to the fire dragon that it won't comply with my orders?" The leader seemed agitated. He wanted to know what happened to his fire dragon.
He knew in his heart that whatever happened to the fire dragon could only be the handiwork of this old man. He looked at the old man with rage in his eyes.
The old man had serenity on his visage as he told him while staring straight into his eyes.
"What did I do? Just like I told you before....., I annihilated it."
The fire dragon started to transform from the fire into a frost statue. A loud sound emerged as the statue fell to the ground and broke into myriads of little pieces.
