Despite taking a lot of security measures fatality had befallen the northern chosen. There was no denying that what affected young master Gu Fang was a very severe case of soul dissolution. This could in no way be a natural thing. His own mother and uncle being the chief caretakers of Gu Feng during the time he was under the influence of the poison could testify to this.
It was an open secret that the southern Kun clan was the one to have created an ominous soul poison to which they did not themselves have a cure. This was an ancient poison created during one of their arcane dark moon worshiping ceremonies a long time ago and only a few portions were ever made. The one used on Gu Feng was probably one of the last portions.
But the question was how the young lord got poisoned. It seemed virtually impossible as he was under somebody's watch the entire time. Gu Feng recalled that there were 2 Elven Megueses and 2 Human Wyzards stationed strategically around his room since day one. A Giant blessed warrior was stationed to be behind his bed at all times, come hail or rain.
Gu Du Lie was the elder responsible for Gu Feng's security. He was a well respected elder, leading the punishments department of the Gu clan. There could be no doubt about his loyalty. His record was impeccable. In fact he had taught both Gu Haofeng and Gu Biaje when they were younger. Since Gu Feng had gained consciousness he had noticed hism standing loyally in the shadows of the room, even now maintaining his vigil "How and when the hell did I get poisoned?"
This was something that was bothering him the most. As the new Gu Feng it was his moral responsibility to get revenge for the old Gu Feng. He could not figure it out for the life of him. He started reviewing his memories just before he collapsed. "It was either the mosquito that bit me or somebody stopped time" Either ways he was unable to figure out the truth, but this revenge became an addition in his to-do list.
His father Gu Baije finally arrived in the room, and took him from his uncle. He was a very tall and bulky frame. Is someone looked casually from afar they may think he was a giant. His face was radiant and eyes full of valour. At the moment he was overcome with joy. Yeahaaaaaa…. He grunted in pleasure. "My son has survived this evil plot" , "I knew he could do it" , "Oh Fengar I am proud of you".
Gu Baije was the second son of the primary bloodline of the Gu Clan. He had been an outstanding warrior since he was a little child. He had never cared about political power and wanted nothing more than going on campaigns of conquest. For a very young age he became a master of all kinds of weapons.
Unlike most in the clan he awoke the fire element as his primary element. This was beyond unusual as the Gu Clan was well known for their water and wind elemental magics. He therefore became an unusual renegade master, learning things at his own pace and running campaign as soon as he came off age. Unlike others he spent most of his childhood in the barracks with is main familial interaction being with his immediate family only.
On the right side of his forehead above his right eyebrow and before his hairline started was a complicated tattoo of intertwining suns. This indicated that he drew on the power of the two suns of the realm. This was even more unusual as 90% of the fighters in the land drew on the power of one of the 11 moons of the realm.
In fact he really did not resemble any of the Gu Clan in general. While most in the Gu clan had black or brown hair, his was golden like the rays of the sun. Everything about him was fiery. Perhaps that is why he could understand Nadra so well. She was gentle, while he was fiery. Currently his wife's green eyes were staring at the father and son duo. Her long silver hair speckled with red fluttered in the gentle breeze coming from the window, while her lips were curved in a gentle smile.
At this time the chief elder of the clan and Gu Feng's grand-father Gu Boon Ki arrived. He immediately snatched Gu feng from Gu Baije's embrace and started to pamper him. He started feeding Gu Feng spirit meat so he would recover faster. To which Nadra immediately suggested "father in law please give him spirit juice as he just woke up". Realizing his mistake he switched to giving him immortal jade mango nectar.
Next flew in his uncle Nordin from the window, followed by Nimera Templeston and his maternal grand-ma, Nikola Templeston. They were all very glad to see the Feng Templeston was fine and recovering. Apart from Nordin they were not quite pampering or vocal about their affections like the humans.
After discussing for a while it was decided that after the banquet for the night was done with, preparations for Gu Feng's enchanted bath were to be made. Although he had lost out on a lot of such sessions in the period he was sick. The elders and parents decided to create a long running bath which would go on for about three months to make up for the lost time.
It was common custom for the Elvish children and the human affluent families to have their kids take enchanted baths. They were composed of the best spirit materials and spirit blood of beasts. Soaking in theses baths gave greater mental growth at a younger age. The body, mind and spirit along with elemental affinities were reinforced through this.
As Gu Feng had taken many such baths in the past his mental faculties were well developed, to this he himself could attest. A special vessel is prepared with the many spirit materials and then infused with a variety of magics and more importantly auras. This was done by Magueses or Wyzrds or both. In some cases even blessed warriors poured in their aura to improve the mix.
Of course being the jewel of the north entitled Gu Feng to the best of the best. His enchanted bath this time was going to be so special that it would take a week to prepare. The reason for putting him in the bath for so long was also another tradition of the continent. It was normal to test affinities and other abilities at the end of the first year that the child is born. However in the case of the decennial lunar festival where the 11 moons of the continent shone together for an entire night was something special.
It was said that it was especially lucky to be tested on that day. Children up to the age of 10 were tested on that day. Although a lot of them may have shown some abilities before, however many would show new additional abilities. Sometimes the qualities of the elemental affinities would increase. Other times Elven or some sub-races abilities would be bestowed to a human or other race child.
All in all this was a joyous event, where sometimes ancient powers would also awaken among the kids. This once in ten year's event was something that even granted a cease fire between the warring north and south.
