Augturing

On the continent both commoners and the higher classes used the powers of the moons in their lives. Although the moons were worshiped, the amount of worshipers as a whole was not much at all. The more direct form of using the moons power was through augturing.

Augturing would give a person the power to tap into the moons and borrow their powers as their own. They could use these powers to advance their cultivation, learn battle tactics from within the moon, or to manifest moon weapons and even enhance their physical bodies. Augturing was not an art limited to the moons though; it could be practiced with anything that was an object of great power. Celestial bodies were a great choice but so were deep abysses, ravines or great mountains. Some experts were said to have augtured the stars even.

In their daily lives the commoners were using augturing for improving their tailoring or cooking skills. Earning a little bit extra by getting an edge was the common thought. Thought most of the uses of the augturing that the commoners used were not quite spectacular. The commoners at the end of their lives might use these powers gained through augturing to live longer. But as even the commoners could use the power of the moons in this way there were very few who would actually worship the moons.

Affinity was a major factor in augturing, when dealing with objects/beings with wills, even if such wills were rudimentary or worn out. Gu Baije's affinity was with the suns of the continent and therefore he could use their powers. Most of the continent however worshiped the Suns, as not many could have affinity with the suns. It was even more uncommon to have multiple affinities. As Gu Baije was able to draw the power of both the suns, he was without doubt considered to be a great fighter, for such talent.

But having affinity alone was not enough to perform a successful augturing. There was a need of a specialized Augturist to construct, conjure, condense and coalesce the tattoos, into physical form to make the power tapping work. This was a very specialized job that required years of study to master. Over the ages various different cannons of Augturists had cropped up all over the continent. There were small exclusive schools all over the continent, but new students were rare as it was difficult to find children talented in augturing.

The decennial event was known as: All moons Day. As the resluling light from the 11 moons showing up together would make it look like the day. Before the end of the night usually some great potential Augturists were revealed. This was traditionally the time when most Augturing schools would choose children after seeing their affinities and latent potential.

While enjoying the week in all his loved ones laps, Gu Feng learned all these fascinating facts. This augturing seemed such a novel field. He had never tested any such concepts in his previous life of a researcher. After a week was over Gu Feng was put into his special Enchanted Bath. Higest quality elder sap from the Elven elder tree mixed with the remnants of a billion year old Ice dragon, allowed the enchantment matrix to be maximized so as to ensure a great learning environment.

Inside the bath he learnt the traits of the celestial bodies. All the moons and the two suns were considered to be beyond god level experts. They were taken to be manifestations of power of greater beings. There was a background story to every one of the moons and suns. It was said that in the beginning the realm had no light and all progressed in utter darkness. Until the first person to cultivate to an unfathomable degree became the first sun, there was no sunlight in the realm. Impressed by such a feat a second person came along and become the second sun when he surpassed the realm's limit.

Although some such mythical stories were present for all the heavenly bodies, the focus of the knowledge was on the traits exhibited by the bodies themselves or their users.

Among the moons four were male while the rest were female. Hekete was the first moon that guided people. Those who invoked her power were righteous explorers who liked to take the lead. They would often become torchbearers for others. The colour of this moon was bright yellow, sort of like a dimmer sunlight. She would shine on the continent for a total of 2 months in the beginning to the year.

Luna was the second moon, a proud beauty, who shone in a golden yellow color. She was popular among young women as they were known to become beautiful and have many admirers while following her. She also exhibited the aspect of balance. Chang'e was the next moon. She symbolized loyalty, devotion, immortality and longevity. Sometimes certain clans or cults were known to have augtured even undead magic from her. But these mainly felt like rumor to Gu Feng as it was opposed to the other qualities that Chang'e had. Her light was silvery white.

The fouth moon was Raith. She was shone crimson, with rage and wrath. Here followers were violent and war like. They would get angry fast and violent even faster. She was known to bestow berserking powers. The fifth moon was Silewe Nazarate who ruled over death, war and pestilence. She had a blackish red glow, different from the crimson glow of Raith. They would randomly start shining in any season without any fixed days or patterns.

Tsukiyomi was a male moon who was well known in bestowing archery powers and his users were proficient in using soul force. Bhaloo was the moon with three snakes as pets. He was most used by giants as his great strength created affinity for giants more than any other race. His also had special moon force which when cultivated could produce some amazing results. Though his users were aggressive they were mostly not evil natured.

Ta'Lab was the wise moon. He personified wisdom, truth and power. His users were usually the good guys with no evil intentions, somewhat exhibiting a pride which loathed evil. Ta' Lab had a light blue purifying moon light. In contrast was the moon called Kidli. His usurers were rapists, killers, vile creatures. The blakish red of the moon was different from Raith's crimson red. It was know that followers/usurers of Kidli's powers indulged in Elf or Human live sacrifice, to gain more powers.

The moon with a jade-yellow glow was Mama Killa. She was gentle moon which exhibited beauty, motherly love, a love for children. Helping people for a certain member of times would unlock the user's power further. And right in opposition to her was the last moon Selene. Her light was pink, and she promoted lust and gluttony. Most of her augturing users were masters of illusions and deceit. She was one of the moons that had a mythical history outlined.

It was said that long ago a female cultivator had been cheated in love. She then became revengeful. She started seducing men and stole their powers somehow. Illusion was her weapon, which she did not hesitate to use. With time she made many female lovers all over the realm. She never killed the females but used them nevertheless, while most men who had encountered her would not live to tell the tale.
