The Hunt

Daniel made his character exit the Tempest City, and into The Wilds.

The Wilds is the vast forest outside the cities, not just Steel Tempest. No, actually, The Wilds is the map of the Steel Tempest, and cities are only placed on it. At the very center of it is the Tempest City. Also, The Wilds' trees are very large, and these trees are called Ascendor Trees, which is indestructible to most guns, except Tempest-Grade weapons.

After exiting the Tempest City, Daniel immediately encountered a level 480 Mecha Rex.

Daniel was expressionless despite the challenger in front of him. He even yawned.

In the game, Phantom God took out his Supreme Dark Destroyers out, and ran towards the enemy. The Mecha Rex was known to be extremely strong, and even level 490 players with top of the line equipment can't hunt it down. But who was Daniel?

He was the Phantom God! The mythical gaming legend in the gaming world!

The Mecha Rex responded with a loud roar, but with Daniel's Supreme Overlord title, his player didn't experience any kind of crowd control effects from monsters.

"Just an AI." Daniel mumbled lightly. His eyes contained extreme concentration, since even with Daniel's skills, he has no equipment on, and he was in Combat Mode, so he can't equip anything.

Daniel's character jumped, and landed on top of the Mecha Rex's head. He immediately sent a salvo of bullets in the Mecha Rex's head.

The Mecha Rex's health went down in response to the shots.

One should know that a Mecha Rex's health is over 100,000, and the Supreme Dark Destroyers has a damage of exactly 11,500 each one, which is the highest damage amongst pistols.

All guns above the Tsunami-Grade had to use a special magazine called Compressed Crystallized Magazines, or CCM for short, which allows weapons to fire much powerful bullets, and of course, it's the only usable bullets for Tsunami-Grade weapons and above.

This is the reason that Daniel's character didn't have to reload that easily, since one use of a CCM can allow even a pistol to fire 100 shots!

Plus the fact that the Supreme Dark Destroyers are of the Level 10 Tempest-Grade Weapon, and are the strongest pistols in game. Its rate of fire is extremely fast, and its accuracy is 100% with 300 Vision stat. And, the Supreme Dark Destroyers can also use two special magazines that is exclusive to itself, the Void Crystal Mags (VCM), and the Destruction Crystal Mags (DCM). Each has a special effect to it, the VCM being able to nullify any attack, and also cause massive damage (15,000 damage), and the DCM being able to cause 25,000 damage each.

And don't forget the fact that Steel Tempest is an FPS, RPG, and free world game that features high mobility stunts! Which is Daniel's favorite feature, and that earned him the title "Speed Demon!"

Daniel used 5 bullets each of his Supreme Dark Destroyers, and the Mecha Rex went down! The Mecha Rex didn't even have the time to react.

"Pshh," Daniel snorted. "Too easy."

Of course, Daniel didn't waste VCMs, and DCMs, just regular CCMs. Steel Tempest is a realistic game than fps games. If you reload with a magazine still having a bullet, the bullets in that magazine will also be wasted, just like real life. Well, it won't be wasted, but the magazines will be placed in your inventory, away from the fully loaded magazines, and will never stack. So, Steel Tempest actually involves managing your bullet capacity, and requires much skill than most fps games.

These features are also one of the reasons it is a revolutionary game.

...

A guy wearing a black robe can be seen in a faraway Ascendor Tree. The guy can be seen using binoculars, and was clearly spying on someone.

And that someone was clearly spying on Daniel. But of course, each and every player's name on Steel Tempest is hidden, except in the leaderboards, so nobody knows who is who, unless they're in the same guild, or the player purposely revealed his name. And, of course, Daniel hid his name.

The black-robed character saw Daniel's character fighting a Mecha Rex, and without armor on! The black-robed character saw the fluid moves of Daniel's character, and was astonished by how fast Daniel's Character decimated the Mecha Rex.

He then looked at the guns of Daniel's character, and immediately had glistening eyes! He wanted those pistols!

The black-robed character had sinister plans on killing Daniel's Character. But, of course this plan would backfire on him as he didn't know who the Phantom God is! He only thought that Daniel's character was a heavenly player, but he didn't expect it to be the legendary Phantom God!

Of course, he thought it would be easy to kill a non-equipped player, which is true, with a Tempest-Grade weapon, so he took out a sniper rifle. This should be a fact, but he encountered Daniel, the Phantom God!

...

Daniel just finished collecting the loot of the Mecha Rex, but his gaming instinct tingled. He instantly moved and ran behind the nearest Ascendor tree!

In Steel Tempest, player killing is very much allowed. In fact, it is the player killing feature that made the game so popular!

You can kill a player in broad daylight without any penalties! Well, only in The Wilds, but The Wilds is very popular!

There are safe zones in The Wilds as well, where player killing is very much prohibited, but The Wilds is so vast that it's hard to come across this safe zone, and assassinating players isn't that hard.

Daniel was of course one such assassin that can kill players from a distance that even players with 5,000 awareness stat can't detect, but he's more of a fighter, rather than a sniper or assassin. And of course, Daniel could also kill a very fast moving target with a sniper rifle a hundred miles away in game, which is only topped by the top two, and top one assassin in the game.

Although the current Phantom God was not equipped, Daniel was confident in his gaming skill, and instincts enough to dare to go in The Wilds alone! Even Fiery Hunter, the number two player in Steel Tempest wouldn't dare to do this!

Back to the player killing feature. This feature is very much promoted in Steel Tempest, and each day, with the tens of millions of players playing Steel Tempest, over hundreds of thousands of players were killed everyday!

Why? Because player drop ALL their money and their current equipped equipment! This is brutal, but The Wilds is survival of the fittest and was not for cowards, the true challengers are players like Daniel! It was a hardcore game, and not for gamers that treat games only as a pastime, hobby, or recreational activity!

As for why Daniel ran, because this is outside the Tempest City! And most high-leveled players live in Tempest City. He knew himself that if he got hit even by a Level 1 Tsunami-Grade, no, by a Level 5 Tornado-Grade weapon, he'll be KO'd instantly!

Well, he was not a coward, he only hid behind a nearby Ascendor tree.

The black-robed character looked in confusion at Daniel's character.

'How did he know I'm here? The guy was not even equipped!' The black-robed character had his suspicions, and hesitated before finally deciding to go to Daniel.

...

On the back of the tree, Daniel was sitting, and entered Stealth Mode. Stealth Mode was a skill acquired after leveling up 50, and was the most common skill in the game.

Daniel maxed the Stealth Mode skill, and spent 10 AP just for it, which of course paid off. Nobody below level 500 would be able to see him, and even level 500 players wouldn't be able to sense or see him unless they activated the Eagle's Sensitivity skill.

Daniel was not a coward, he was just waiting for the Combat Mode to be removed, which is about 10 seconds after leaving combat.

Just then, he heard the sound of cutting wind on his earphones, and the player appeared on the side of the tree.

He bobbed his head, and saw the player. He didn't know the player's name as it was hidden, but he saw the equipment, and instantly knew that it was only a level 5 Tempest-Grade Weapon.

The 10 second Combat Mode was released. Daniel instantly opened his inventory and equipped his boots, which is called the Phantom Lightning Boots.

As you can see, the Phantom Lightning Boots are Level 10 Tempest-Grade Equipment as well, and is the only one of its kind. Daniel acquired it after finishing the quest to get the Supreme Overlord title.

The Phantom Lightning Boots give 8,000 speed, and 10,000 movement, which is the highest increase in all of the Steel Tempest world!

Of course, Daniel couldn't be known as the Speed Demon without these boots. He equipped this because he knows that the one currently 'hunting' him was a high-leveled player.

One shouldn't underestimate his opponents. As for why, the reason is simple. Even if a fully-equipped low gaming-skill player that has full Level 10 Tempest-Grade equipment fighting a high gaming-skill player without his equipment, wouldn't the low gaming-skill player still win because of the equipment advantage? It's just as simple as that.

Although only equipping boots was still vastly underestimating the opponent, if the 'hunter' knew that who he was 'hunting' was actually Phantom God, then he would have escaped long ago, even if he saw that the Phantom God was without equipment!

The reason? It was because Phantom God was notorious for killing even the best players of Steel Tempest in the Arena of Titans at Tempest City without his equipment on!

...

Ahhhh, as some of you noticed, I accidentally put Jett as the name of the main character on the previous chapter. I have updated it and changed it to Daniel. The reason is that I've been playing this game, and I put Jett as my character's name. Surprisingly, Jett was available. The name stuck around in my head and I just kept thinking of the game. That's the only reason.
