The City Lord

The rays of the rising sun pierced through the window, illuminated the whole room. As the warm ball light filtered through my thin eyelids while I laid down on the bed, I couldn't help but lazily opened my eyes. I blinked a few times, in an attempt to adjust my eyes after being directly hit by the rays of the sunlight when I opened them. I woke up, cleaned myself and changed into a new set of clothing.

After I was done, I silently opened the door without it issuing any creaking sound at all. I walked out the room, however before my feet could even land outside, Long Mei was already waiting for me next to the door.

" Sir Alfred, you are awake."

At this moment, Long Mei seemed to be more respectful than when I first met her. She didn't have any air of arrogance or nobility. She stood in front me like she was some kind of servant. I didn't know what caused her to be that respectful nor did I care.

Unbeknown to Alfred, after Long Mei got home and explained everything that happened to his father, her father mistook Alfred for a peak 10th rank expert or a Saint Master. Being able to render his little brother who was an 8th rank middle stage warrior as well the all the soldier unable to move by Relying on his aura alone, wasn't something a regular Grandmaster could do. He must be a tiny step away from breaking through the Saint Master rank, which means even if he himself as well all his brothers joined hands together, they could only fight Alfred to a standstill. Only the old ancestor and the head of the clan can deal with a person like that. Wouldn't it be the same as saying that this Sir Alfred could easily deal with two of the top five experts of their clan?. After learning and having a clear understanding of Sir Alfred's strength through her father, Long Mei has become more respectful towards him and even viewed him as a celestial being.

I was surprised when I saw her waiting outside my door.

" Little girl, You are up quite early. Don't tell me that you have been waiting here for me specifically, do you?" I asked with a gentle smile on my face.

Long Mei's face slightly turned red as she said. " Sir Alfred, my father asked me to await you here when you awake and asked you to join him for Breakfast."

"Where is your father?"

" He is in the dining room, just follow me Sir Alfred, I'll bring you there." Said, Long Mei.

I slightly nodded and followed Long Mei as she moved toward where the dining room was located.

After arriving at the City Lord's Palace yesterday, I was kind of tired and needed to sleep. Long Tian has ordered the servant to prepare me the best guest room. After spending all these years in the forest, this was my first time sleeping on a bed. I was planning on spending more time on the bed, but I was awakened by Long Mei. I thought that she was just passing by, but after an hour, she was still waiting outside.

Even though she had been very cautious to the utmost, and softened her footsteps as hard as she could in order not to wake me up. Nonetheless, her presence couldn't escape my senses. Plus that damn rays of sunlight was piercing through my eyes which hasten me to wake up.

On the way, I encountered many servants and some guards. Soon after, we arrived in a lobby.

As soon I entered, I saw Long Tian sitting next to a man wearing a blue robe. The man looked around his forties.

" Sir Alfred, did you sleep well last night." Said Long Tian as he stood up with a bright smile on his face.

After what happened the last time. I put both Sylvia and Little Red within my Pet space. The less attention I attracted to myself the better. Even though they were reluctant to go in, I bribed them and promised them to buy them all the food they can eat after I got out from the City Lord's palace.

I faintly nodded my head while smiling and said, " it's been years since I slept on a nice bed like that. Many thanks for the hospitality."

The other man sitting next to Long Tian chuckled and said, " I'm glad to hear that."

" Where are my manners, my name is Long Chen and I am the current City Lord of the silver Moon City. I know that my haughty daughter had offended you, I hope that you can find it in your heart to forgive her." Said the City Lord courteously while slightly bend his head.

Both Long Tian as well Long Mei's eyeballs nearly fell down out of their sockets, a look of indescribable disbelief were evident on their faces. They have never seen the City Lord addressing a person not to mention a complete stranger that polite, except for the Emperor, the head of the clan and the old Ancestor, not even the crown prince could make him behave that courteously. nonetheless, they got back to normal because they knew that the city lord was a vicious and cunning old fox, there might be a reason behind his behavior.

I was also a little stunned and surprised as well because this man in front of me was a 10th rank middle stage Earth mage. In another word, we were both at the grandmaster rank so there was no need for him to that polite with me. It was kinda funny as well because The City Lord was old enough to be my grandpa.

" No need to be this polite City Lord, just call me Alfred or Brother Alfred. Also, I already forgot about this incident long ago, so there's no need to bring that up." Nonetheless, I politely answered him back. He seemed like a quite decent old man.

" Hahaha, thanks a lot, brother Alfred. You must be hungry by now, Enough chit-chat for now so let's eat." Said Long Chen happily.

With a wave of his hand, the servants served the breakfast and left, leaving the four of us eating alone. The breakfast was very sumptuous and delicious, there were many types of food that I have never tried and seen before. The only thing I was familiar with was the soup.

I heartily ate and drank. Although I didn't go as far as to clear everything out on the table, but I did eat a lot. I have mostly lived off grilled meat within the magical beast forest, so being able to eat a decent meal was like a child in a candy store. Good thing the servants had already left and didn't see me eating otherwise they would have been tongue-tied seeing me eating almost everything on the table. As for Long Tian, Long Chen and Long Mei, they happily accompanied me, occasionally taking a bite with their chopsticks. However, compared to me, their eating was quite cultured. After I was done eating, I slightly patted my stomach in satisfaction.

After we finished eating, the servants came and quickly sorted out the table then left.

" Thanks for the meal Brother Long, it's been a while since I've eaten a decent meal as well."

" Hahaha, no problem brother Alfred, I'm glad you liked it." Said Long Chen while laughing.

" Even though it's our first meeting but you feel like an old friend. I know that it's your first time visiting Silver moon city, it will be my honor if you can stay in my humble house as long as you want."

" Thanks for the offer Brother Chen, but I don't want to impose. I still have some personal business to take care off so I won't stay in the city for long. I'll stop by before I leave.

" Ohh well, what a shame. Anyway if you need any help just let me know. If it is within my power, I would gladly help you." Said, Long Chen.

" I will. Ohh yeah, this is for you little girl." I Said while taking out one 8th rank as well a 7th rank magical beast core from my inventory. I don't like to owe people any debt or favor. After spending a night in their house as well eating free breakfast in the morning. I pretty sure this two magical beast core will be able to cover that, like this, I won't owe them anything.

" Thank You, Sir Alfred." Without looking at his father's expression, Long Mei happily grabbed the two magical beast core from my hands. I already knew she was a water mage and the 7th rank magical beast core came from a water type magical beast which would be a great help for her. As for the 8th rank beast core, it came from an Earth-type ferocious beast which is compatible with Long Tian's Battle qi.

After spending some time talking with the City Lord and his brother. I suddenly got up from my seat.

" Well, it's time for me to leave. Thanks a lot for everything brother Chen. I'll try to pay you a visit before I leave the city." I said with a slight smile on my face. It is true that they possess a luxurious mansion and all but I didn't come here to play or have fun. Plus the less time I spent here, the better.

" Wait for a second Brother Alfred, take this with you. It will facilitate your stay a lot throughout the City as well the Whole Qin Empire." Said Long Chen While handing me a small amulet with the word Qin written on it in small character and some weird beast design. It was made with some material that I've never seen before.

" Thanks a lot, Brother Chen," I Said while putting the Amulet in my pocket. That old foggy clearly saw through my intention when I gave her daughter the beast cores. He knew that I didn't want to be indebted to him in any way. Nonetheless, he was still trying to do so. It's not like this damn amulet was worth more than the two beats cores even though I didn't know what it was. anyway, it's not like I care, they were just strangers and I was not here to make friends.

After putting the amulet in my pocket , I quickly left. I have a feeling that Archaic continent has drastically changed. Also , what the heck is Qin Empire? I've never heard about Archaic continent having empires when I was a kid. Maybe it was founded when I was away. Even though I didn't know shit about Qin Empires and other changes that happened within the continent, I didn't want to ask them about those kinda stuff. I didn't want them to know that I was clueless about the changes within the continent.
