Counter Spells [C87]

Seeing Aura Azusa reacting like that everyone is stupified, why is she so angry?

The only one that has a grim expression while watching her is the headmaster who is now having conflicted emotions, unsure of what to do about her.

Meanwhile, Aura Azusa finally calmed down, now looking at Met-3 calmly, as if nothing happened a moment before.

Suddenly, Met-3 moved once again, but this time it seemed to act more seriously, vanishing immediately from its spot due to its high speed and appearing behind Aura Azusa, throwing another punch.

Noticing it, Aura Azusa simply chanted again, "Space Shift." Immediately vanishing from her spot and reappearing far from Met-3, evading once again the punch. It seems that she is not willing to attack anymore and is only dragging the time of the fight.

Analyzing her behavior, Met-3 then said, "Space Shift spell detected. Proceeding spell resolving."

A moment later, from his shoulders an unknown white gas suddenly came out.

*Foof*

An instant later, Met-3 chanted, "Space Lock."

Suddenly, around the flying island appeared an enormous purple cube, but vanished only a moment later, leaving no signs of its existence. Now with the space locked, the magic spell 'Space Shift' will not work anymore.

A teacher seeing what just happened looked toward the students and explained, "Most of the magic spells possess a counterspell, capable of nullifying their strength. To make an example that all of you should already know, the magic spell 'Fireball', can be easily stopped by the magic spell 'Blob'."

Hearing the teacher, the students nodded in agreement, while Shu Himo is now distraught, 'That useless water ball actually has such a use?'

[Naturally, why would the teachers leave the book about that magic spell on the library, leaving the students to learn it if there wasn't a use for it?]

'Isn't it so that the students could learn how to separate useless spells from useful ones?

[The way the brain of the User works is in a certain sense something unknown even for the system.]

'That was not funny.'

[It was not supposed to be funny.]

While Shu Himo and the System had their own discussion, Met-3 vanished once again, aiming toward Aura Azusa.

Abruptly reappearing behind her, it sent a punch toward her, seemingly trying to annihilate her.

Noticing it, she still had a calm look, and chanted her next spell, "Ice Shield."

With the activation of the magic spell, around Aura Azusa a sphere of ice instantly formed, acting as a shield against the punch from Met-3. Obviously, it was a shallow defense in front of its punch.

*Boom!*

Breaking easily the shield of ice, the punch from Met-3 went through the sphere of ice, but did not hit Aura Azusa: she escaped from the attack by using the instant gained from the shield!

Noticing that its target escaped once again, Met-3 formulated a new plan, "Ice Shield spell detected. Proceeding spell resolving."

Suddenly, on its hands, some small openings sent out a special gas. The gas circled around its hands as if it had its own will, and a moment later burned, heating the hands to over 1000 degree Celsius.

While looking at Aura Azusa, its red glowing eyes gave shivers to the students, the teachers, and even the headmaster. It then said, "Ice Shield spell resolved. Proceeding extermination." Vanishing once again from its spot, Met-3 appeared behind Aura Azusa, sending another punch.

This time, having both space shift and ice shield not usable, Aura Azusa could not dodge unharmed, and knowing this, she immediately started her chant, "Air Bomb."

With a small sphere of compressed air appearing in front of her, Aura Azusa readied herself for the impact and then made it explode, giving her enough speed to evade the punch from Met-3. However, while she managed to dodge the punch, she still suffered some bruises and cuts due to the wind, but nothing serious.

Analyzing her spell, this time Met-3 could not find a solution, "Air Bomb detected. Proceeding spell resolving… failed. Changing the attack pattern. Activating the Astral Cannon."

Abruptly, from its hands a small tube appeared, that started glowing as if inside there is something about to explode. Met-3 then aimed the cannon toward Aura Azusa, ready to shoot. But all of a sudden, the formations of the headmaster activated again, chaining Met-3 to the ground, leaving it no way to continue its attack.

Finally, the voice of the headmaster resounded everywhere, "Aura Azusa managed to resist thirty seconds, so she passed to the S class! Now the next fight will start in a minute, and it will be Shu Himo against Met-3!"

Hearing the headmaster Shu Himo is puzzled, why wait a minute? But then, observing Met-3 he noticed that he was resetting, cooling down the hands, deactivating the space lock, and hiding once again the Astral Cannon.

Every student looked toward Met-3 with fearful gazes, if they were the next, they would surely not go and would instead surrender. With this thought passing in their heads, they looked toward Shu Himo, curious to see how he will act, only to see him smiling excitedly… what is wrong with you? What about being a bit more serious?

Meanwhile, Shu Himo did not notice at all their gazes and kept staring at the headmaster waiting for the signal to start.

A minute later, the headmaster smiled by seeing Shu Himo's enthusiasm, "Very well, the fight between Shu Himo and Met-3 will now start!"

Hearing the signal, Shu Himo immediately jumped to the flying island, landing in front of Met-3.

'Wow, seeing him from this close is pretty suggestive!'

Meanwhile, Met-3 analyzing Shu Himo declared, "Enemy Threat Level: Extremely High, detected growth potential too high. Race: Beast Race, Wolf-Man. Elimination Priority: Primary."
