Chapter 5- Leaving

Before the sun was even up, Yan Liqin rose from her bed and began to get ready. She washed her face and changed into a dark blue dress with white embroidered peonies.

After failing to style her hair the way she wanted, Yiqin decided to just put half of her hair up and secure it with a single white lotus hairpin. Although it was simple, it was the only hairstyle she could do without the help of her maidservant, Yuexui.

Afterwards, she gathered her clothes, hairpins, and treasures and threw them all into her interspatial ring to prepare for her trip.

Deciding that she was ready and done packing, Yiqin called for Bai Bao and left for her parents' courtyard. When she left, the sun was barely rising.

In their courtyard, Yan Gouwei and Yan Qingzhao were peacefully snoring away when suddenly they heard rapid footsteps approaching their door. The couple groaned and looked at each other with a pained expression. Then in the next second, Yan Gouwei was kicked outside the door by his wife.

As Yan Liqin approached her parents' bedchambers, she saw her father suddenly fly out of the door. She secretly snickered to herself and put on an innocent expression, "Father? Why are you practicing martial arts so early in the morning?"

Looking at his only child, Gouwei only felt heartache. After so many years of spoiling and pampering her, he was repaid with a heartless daughter who looked the other way when seeing him bullied.

Shaking his head, Gouwei stood up and faced his daughter. Even though he knew why, he still asked, "What are you doing up so early?"

With a big smile, Liqin responded with, "I'm ready to go to the mortal realm."

At that moment, Yan Qingzhao stepped out the door and rushed to hug her child, ignoring her husband in the process. "My little princess is going to leave us for 300 years. Oh how can I bear it."

After hugging for an eternity, Qingzhao turned to her husband and said, "What are you standing around for? Hurry up and retrieve the items we prepared for our daughter."

Sighing to himself, Gouwei went back into the bedchambers and came out five minutes later with an interspatial ring in his hand.

"In here is some money used in the mortal realm, some treasures you can sell for more money, and a couple pairs of clothes. Oh," Gouwei pulled out a black jade pendant with a three headed dragon carved into it, "here is another jade to replace the one you broke, this will show the demons in the mortal realm who you are."

"Thank you father," Liqin placed the ring on her index finger and hanged the pendant on her waist.

Qingzhao stepped forward and waved her hand on top of Liqin's head, "Do not show your horns in the mortal realm or else some righteous sects might hunt you down. Or worse, people from the heaven realm might come down to kill you."

"Understood mother, I'll keep my identity as a human a secret."

"Oh and," Qingzhao walked over to BaiBao, "you need to be kept a secret too." Suddenly, the large and elegant spirit beast turned into a normal white tomcat. The poor tiger who used to be a proud and respected spirit beast turned into a small cute cat.

The trio along with Bai Boa then boarded a carriage and headed to the gateway to the mortal realm. On the ride there, Liqin was told what to do and what not to do in the human realm. "Do not provoke any righteous sects or have any contact with them. They have spiritual connections with the god realm which could endanger you. If you feel that someone has a heavenly aura, avoid them at all cost."

"Okay okay, I understand, I won't get into any trouble."

The carriage approached a dark forest surrounded by fog and miasma. After some time, they reached the heart of the forest where the family said their final goodbyes. Yan Qingzhao then told Liqin to continue walking straight and eventually she will cross the border into the mortal realm.
