Evil Miasma

During the bewitching hours of twilight, a dark haze slowly condensed around the figure lying on the bed, filling the lightly closed room with a foul scent.

The almost indistinct mist can be seen quietly seeping through the cracks underneath the door.

Barely escaping, it was pulled back with a sudden force, barricaded by a faint blue light, before disappearing out of sight, as though it had never appeared in the first place.

Turning over onto the side, the figure on the bed calmly opened his eyes that were flickering ever so slightly.

A dim ray of moonlight made it's way through the small wooden framed window, landing on the face of the dark figure.

Jasper slowly sat up with a serious expression on his face, sending his mind into the abyssal depths of his mana pool.

"[ would have never expected you to have hidden so covertly here.]

Pinpointing onto the exact location of a mysterious object silently absorbing his mana inside his mana pool, he sent a wave of magical force, slamming it onto its body.

The mana rapidly wrapped around it, creating some sort of natural barrier, protecting it from the incoming charge.

The magical force dissipated as soon as it touched the barrier, melting back into its mana form without a target.

"Shit!"

Jasper couldn't help but curse out loudly into the dead of the night.

He heard a slight movement from the bedroom next door, before only the sounds of the cicadas coming from the outside were left.

Shutting his mouth once again, he quietly focuses his mind back onto the object.

he demanded.

There was no response, not even a twitch can be felt from it.

[I'll see what you can do without any mana in here!]

Jasper spread out his arms as though to embrace the atmosphere around him, steadily leaking out an invisible pressure.

The heavens and earth helped quicken the process, almost like they were trying to suck him dry, greedily absorbing the magical force he released.

Maybe it was due to the lack of mana on Earth, but finding a source so rich in mana, it couldn't help but try to find an equilibrium with this anomaly.

Finally feeling the source diminish in mana, the surrounding air reluctantly returned to its serene state.

The object inside his mana pool ultimately started to stir a bit.

With a smirk upon his cold face, he sent out a lethal soul attack, crashing it onto its body.

As soon as the attack was within a few millimeters away from the object, it dissipated like the magical force had before it.

Feeling the disturbance around it, the object slowly awakened from its deep slumber.
