CHAPTER 186

"We can only work with the present. Tomorrow and yesterday are like a bird, whose life can be capped down by the arrows of the uncertainty" Jeff said.

He walked towards the woman who stood some few feet away from him. She was staring intently at him. Those burning gaze of hers was like nothing Jeff had ever seen.

"I want you to promise me," Jeff whispered.

"Anything my Lord," The woman bowed her head with respect.

"I want you to promise to keep them safe. No matter what happens. Keep them safe. Can you do that for me?"

The woman only nodded. There was another expression that lined her eyes. Jeff cannot actually place a hand on them, but he did not ask her either. It was best sometimes, to leave some words unspoken.

Jeff walked pass her, towards the direction where Ema and the others were. Ema was crying, but when she saw him, she quickly wiped her eyes with the back of her hands, pretending to have something in her eyes.
