The man in front of him who by the way was the priest was first to answer…enthusiastically
"You are at the kingdom of Altier, and I am Cardinal Videl Siejy. You are our heroes, and we have summoned you today to aid us against a great threat that is endangering our kingdom." Said the man with a pious look and pious conviction.

What the hell?
A blue screen showed up in front of my eyes for a brief second then soon disappeared.
I looked at the guys near me and noticed that the same thing must have happened to them as most looked back a bit stunned by the sudden revelation.
This is exactly like what is happening in those novels and games…the hell is this? Does this mean that the stories I read were real? I only thought them to be fictions made for others to enjoy…
I must be dreaming…this can't be true
I pinched my left cheek and felt pain.

There is one last thing I need to do to verify this.
I then said

It is true…what the hell is up with that title anyway? But the stats seem to be balanced… for a level 1 that is.
Haru then looked at me who probably noticed what I did, when I said status screen my voice was not low, so I am certain that many had heard me.
Haru then said
"Did it work?"
I replied by nodding to confirm his question as I still stared at the screen in front of me.
"Status screen!" he energetically said
After a brief moment…
"Oh. Not bad…nothing overpowered but man what is with that title?"
The cardinal then took notice of us and said
"You there! You know how our world works? From where did you get such knowledge? Were you perhaps summoned before?" asked the cardinal with a voice mixed with surprise, and hidden anger?
"No." I said "nothing like that, but we have something in our world that makes us relate to what we are seeing…I still can't believe all those stories might have had some truth to them…"
Yuji then looked at me and said
"What are you talking about, loser."

It seems I understand the title now.
"Say status screen, and you will see for yourself." I coldly replied.
He hesitated for a moment then said
"Status screen!"
The guy was clearly surprised at the thing that must have appeared in front of him, but it took few seconds for him to say
"Wow…it is like a game? Stat points and levels…even a title huh. It says hero here…I find it fitting…" confidently said the guy.
Hero? Did he get the Hero title already?
Everyone soon did the same as him and became surprised.
I hesitated first but turned to look at the perplexed cardinal then asked
"We were sent by some entity and you say you summoned us? How come?.
"I have no idea of what you are speaking about, young man, but could you please explain this further?" said the cardinal.
No one seemed to be willing to speak so I sighed and started telling the whole story.
The cardinal was scratching his beard for a moment as if he was contemplating my words before he said
"Well, it seems that it was but a stroke of fate that you were summoned. We only intended to summon five but we had all of you, it should increase our chances against the Devil-King."
Devil King…so damn stereotypical!
Never did any story entailing the hunt of the Devil-King ended in the favor of heroes…
"Why should we help?" I said "why should we help you with this? Why should we risk our lives for an agenda that we have no gain from it whatsoever and will probably risk our lives to achieve this?"
"Simple." Said the man.
"The devil king has a magic that will enable you to return to your world. We had verified this before once the last devil king died, and the heroes that were summoned used his magic to return. Now another one had taken his place, and he is planning on taking over this world."
"…So you have summoned other before us?"
"Not me. This was done a hundred years ago where the need of heroes from another world was desperate to defeat the devil king. We summoned them, they helped us and then they left to their world."
What a load of crap. I can feel this man lying through his teeth. This is so convenient to force us to fight for them…
