Healing

As Lake walked inside he couldn't help but glance at Lyra, 'Why is she here, is she connected to Selena in some way?'

Like she could hear what he was thinking Lyra spoke, "We're family friends, I came over when I heard that Lily was sick."

'Lily? That must be the sister's name.' Lake nodded in understanding.

To that Lyra could only give a wry smile before leading Lake upstairs after closing the door.

When Lake reached the room the first thing he noticed was a little girl that was laying on the bed, there heavy medicinal scent lingering around the room.

The girl looked like she was slumbering peacefully but occasional hints of pain would flash across her face from time to time.

Selena was sitting beside the bed looking at the little girl worriedly, she kept looking toward the door as if waiting for something.

As soon as she saw Lake she stood up hurriedly and dragged him into the room.

"This is my sister Lily, can you help her please?" She said anxiously, when she saw how young Lake was again her resolve wavered slightly.

"Don't worry, she'll be fine in no time." Lake said reassuringly.

Looking at Lily he studied her for a moment, she had a round face with a small button nose. Her face was pale and slightly contorted in pain.

Quietly he reached into his bag and pulled out the elixir. In reality he had taken it out of his inventory but he used the bag to hide that fact.

He handed it to Selena and said, "She must drink the whole thing at once, in about a days time the illness will be completely gone."

She looked at the elixir with a face full of doubt. "Are you sure this will work?"

Lake just smiled and chuckled slightly. "It definitely will, even if it doesn't it won't harm her in any way so there's no downside to it."

Nodding quietly Selena went over to the bedside and leaned over opening Lily's mouth slightly.

Pouring in the elixir she watched anxiously as the contents of the bottle were emptied.

"After drinking it she should wake up in about 10 minutes, but the illness will still be there so be careful around her."

Meanwhile throughout the whole process Lyra stood at the door silently watching the whole thing go down, occasionally she glanced at Lake with surprise apparent in her eyes.

In ten minutes a small groan came from the bed and everyone stared intently as Lily's eyelashes shook slightly and her eyes opened.

She looked around dazedly and noticed her sister by her side with tears running down her face.

"Big sister? What's going on?" It was then that she also noticed Lake at the end of her bed. "Who is he sis?"

"Lily!! Lily thank goodness!" Selena couldn't hold back and immediately hugged her sister with red eyes.

Despite her confusion she knew how her sister had been feeling since she usually didn't cry, so she quietly hugged Selena tightly.

Seeing the two sisters hugging each other and sobbing loudly Lyra wore a bright smile on her face, she felt extremely happy seeing Lily wake up.

At the same time she looked at Lake in surprise, she never expected this boy who no one knew would be able to cure Lily's illness. It had to be known that there weren't many alchemists who could've healed her.

The illness that she had contracted was truly strange, every elixir they had tried had almost no effect on her, at most they had weakened it slightly but could never cure it completely.

With Selena's connections she wouldn't have been able to hire any higher grade alchemists to help either so she was helpless in the situation, until Iyer had come along saying he could cure her.

Only after a short while did the two separate, wiping the tears from her eyes Selena turned to face Lake and bowed her head.

"Thank you so much, if it wasn't for you..."

Waving his hand slightly Lake stopped her, "It's fine you don't need to say anything, just spend some time with your sister me and Lyra will be downstairs."

As soon as the words left his mouth Lake turned around and went down the stairs with Lyra following quietly behind.

Following behind him Lyra felt incredulous in her heart, to think that someone so talented like Lake was so unknown.

As they sat in the living room Lyra looked over at Lake and spoke, "Why did you help her?"

Despite her excitement at Lily being healed, she was unsure of Lake's motives behind helping them. She knew better than to believe that someone would do something out of the goodness of their heart.

"I have my own reasons." He said quietly. There was no way he could say he was doing it for the EXP right?

Lake was already someone that didn't speak much, and when it came to his secrets he would speak even less.

Seeing that Lake wasn't going to speak anymore Lyra asked something else instead.

"What kind of elixir was that? Selena had gone to a lot of alchemists yet none of them cold heal her except for Iyer."

"It's called the Cleansing Elixir, it can heal any mortal illness, though it's ineffective on Espers."

"Cleansing elixir? I've never heard of that one though?"

Lake's eye's widened slightly and he looked at her face with surprise, and seeing the look of confusion on her caused Lake to think of something.

Quickly opening the net he looked up the term Cleansing Elixir and nothing came up. He went onto the Ability Association database and looked it up again and still found nothing.

The Cleansing Elixir didn't exist anywhere. Lake had just concocted the first of it's kind.
