An Encounter

After Lyra had given him her contact info she went back inside. Lake stood outside and blankly looked at the door, with a faint smile on his face he quietly walked off into the night.

But before he had gotten too far he watched as a black vehicle pull up in front of Selena's house.

The person who stepped out was the alchemist that Selena had seen before, who tried to take her body as payment for healing Lily.

Upon seeing him Lake's eyes went cold. He detested him for trying to force Selena into sleeping with him.

As Iyer stepped out his and Lake's eyes met but he felt surprised at the frosty gaze that Lake sent his way.

His eyes narrowed upon seeing Lake coming out of Selena's home, but didn't mind it too much since Lake was still just a kid.

Putting on a smile he went up to Lake and spoke to him. "Hello little brother, what are you doing out here so late?"

"Because I can be."

Not expecting the snide remark Iyer was taken aback, but quickly his face fell and he coldly snorted in response, opting to ignore Lake and walk up to the door.

Lake watched him silently, feeling interested in the display that is about to transpire.

Iyer stood in front of the door and quickly cleaned himself up as well as put on his most charming smile.

*Knock knock*

A few seconds later the door opened and Iyer attempted to step inside, but before he could a hand reached out and stopped him.

"What do you think you're doing Iyer?" A cold voice said from beyond the door.

Iyer frowned in displeasure but he soon sneered, "Oh miss Selena, I'm here to collect payment. Don't tell me you don't want to heal your sister?"

Expecting her to lash out at him he was surprised to see her instead smile and lightly laugh before saying, "There's no need for you to worry about that anymore Dr. Iyer. Please leave the premises."

Iyer's contorted in anger. "Miss Selena. I hope you reconsider for the sake of your sister, I hope you haven't forgotten that I'm the only one who can help her." He spoke in a threatening tone.

"Leave." After leaving that single word she slammed the door in his face.

Iyer's face was ugly beyond belief and he was resisting the urge to burst through the door and attack her but held himself back and walked away. Not even sparing Lake a glance he got into his car and sped off.

Seeing him speed off like that Lake just chuckled to himself before walking home.

In his home he was studying the formula for the Cleansing elixir in awe, for the system to be able to create an elixir like this was nothing short of amazing.

He wondered how many of the formulas inside the system store were created by it. Lake was highly anticipating the future recipes he could use.

He was also trying to think of ways to sell the Cleansing elixir, he hadn't thought about it before because he would never think that there was no such recipe before now.

Everyone would get sick at some point, despite the evolution's that humans have gone through they were still susceptible to sickness since humans weren't the only things that had evolved.

Every bacteria or germ that could get someone sick in the past had evolved as well, enough to threaten a humans life. Most could be healed easily with some remedies but there are others that require much stronger types of medicine, there could even be some that haven't been cured as of yet.

Such as the illness that had taken over Selena's sister, Lily. It had required the Cleansing elixir before being purged from her, but something like the Cleansing elixir is something that should be improbable.

For now he was content with the knowledge that the system could provide him with more elixirs like this in the future.

He put away the recipe and continued his training for the night.

The next morning he woke up and headed over to Selena's house to check on Lily.

Despite his assurance that she would be healed that was nothing more than empty words. He didn't truly know whether or not the elixir would work. Even after seeing her awaken he wasn't sure if the illness would relapse or not.

But his worries were for naught as as soon as he walked inside he saw the little girl running up to him and giving him a hug.

"Thank you for healing me big brother!"Lily spoke while her hands gripped tightly onto his clothes.

Lake was unsure of how to react to the sudden person in his arms, his arms just stayed in the air not knowing what to do.

Seeing Lake so flustered Selena lightly laughed before pulling Lily off of him and taking him into the living room.

He only spoke a little bit with them since he just wanted to make sure that the elixir worked correctly and if Lily was okay.

Seeing her jump around and giggling happily brought relief to him. But while he was speaking to Selena he heard a notification sound within his mind.

[Mission completed! Issuing rewards. +5 EXP.]

Lake's mood became much happier upon receiving his reward, he could now buy other recipes with his EXP, but Lake wasn't planning to buy a new one just yet. He wanted to hold off on it as he didn't know if he'd need a specific recipe later on.

After seeing Lily so energetic and happy Lake saw no other reason to stay despite Selena asking him to. He didn't have a lot of time, he needed to get stronger as quickly as possible to reach the deadline for his mission.

Bidding the sisters farewell Lake decided it was finally time to go and collect his evo style at the association.
