New Target

The outfit had a bunch of graphic designs that he thought made him look cool in the past. Looking at the outfit now though he was cringing. These were the perfect clothes to wear as he knew he would rather die than wear these in public again.

When he had been taking the outfit out of the closet he also saw a small backpack out of the corner of his eyes. He immediately decided he would put the dog in the backpack and carry it that way. The dog was small enough to be carried in a purse so it would be no problem putting the dog in the backpack and zipping it up.

Looking at the time Henry saw that it was five o'clock. His mom got off at work at seven and his dad at nine. The timeframe was smaller than he would like but just large enough to do what he wanted. He had everything he needed he did not want to wait until tomorrow.

He quickly changed into his cringy sweater and baggy jeans. He emptied out all the junk in his backpack which included everything from uncompleted work to random items that had no place being in there.

After emptying out his backpack he quickly went back to the dining table and rolled his knives back up before putting them in his sweater pouch. He also took out a few pairs of gloves and stuffed them into his jeans before putting the rest in his room.

He went out to his backyard with his backpack on as he prepared to climb the fence into the neighbor's yeard. The dog of course immediately noticed that there was someone in the other yard and started barking as usual.

Henry waited a few moments as he looked around towards the patios of other houses making sure no one was there. After waiting for a few minutes and seeing no one come out, he steeled his resolve and climbed the fence.

Henry had never been much into fitness but he had climbed a chain link fence before and found that it wasn't very hard. He thought it would be the same for the fence in the backyard but he was wrong. The chain link fence at least had holes that you could insert the tip of your shoes in to give you leverage.

The one in the backyard though was a wooden fence with no holes at all so he had to rely mostly on his upper body strength to pull himself up. The thing was though, that he had no upper body strength to speak of resulting in him failing halfway through.

After trying and failing for the second time he decided to try a different approach. He ran at the fence using his momentum to provide him with some force to push him up the fence. This time he was finally successful.

After climbing the fence he had no time to be happy though as he saw the dog running towards the doggy door that would lead back into the house. He immediately panicked and used all the force he could create to fling him off the fence.

He ran at the dog as fast as he could barely tackling it before it reached the door. The dog was trying to yelp as much as it could as Henry put his hands around its throat. He kept choking the dog not knowing if it was really working.

He figured that since if you choke a human he will eventually pass out an animal should be the same right? As he was thinking about this though, his ears twitched as he heard a car pull up. He immediately felt the adrenaline pumping through him as he let go of the dog.

The dog got up and ran into the house whining as fast as it could as Henry ran back towards the fence. He climbed up the fence at least three times as fast as he had before. Upon getting back into his own yard he heard the neighbor obnoxiously talking loud on the phone as she entered her house.

Henry rushed to his room as fast as he could before sitting on his bed as breathing trying to calm himself down. He looked down at his hands and held onto them as he realized they were shaking. After a few minutes, Henry began to laugh quietly before getting louder and louder.

This was the first time since he got out of the hospital that he actually felt some sense of fear and anxiety and he loved it. He thought to himself that this was much better than any show he had watched in recent days.

After taking twenty minutes to completely collect himself Henry slightly opened his curtains and looked out the window. He was curious as he knew from the past weeks of being at home that his neighbor usually didn't get home till late at night around ten or eleven.

Upon looking outside he saw that another car had, at a time unknown to him, arrived in the neighbor's driveway. The car was a large van that had backed into the driveway with the trunk open. Inside the trunk, he was able to see some suitcases.

Just as he was looking at the suitcases in the trunk of the vans he saw the neighbor come out with some more suitcases along with the dog in a kennel. There was another woman beside her who looked the same age and another woman who stepped out of the car to help with the luggage.

Henry immediately understood what was happening. The neighbor was likely going on vacation with some of her friends or something. Henry thought that he should be happy about this since it meant he wouldn't have to deal with the damn dog barking for a little while along with his mom being able to get a better sleep.

Instead, though, he felt angry and cheated. He had looked forward to performing his "Experiments" on the dog. This thought process brought a question into his mind. Was this ever because of his mom or was he just using it as an excuse to justify himself?

This question was quickly moved to the back of his head though as he heard the slam of a car door and watched the van drive away. Henry sighed deeply as he laid on his bed and stared at the ceiling, waiting for his parents to get home.

He eventually fell asleep for about an hour before he heard the slam of the front door. He immediately changed and ran to the door to greet his mom and help her with groceries. After taking ten minutes helping with groceries he spent an hour helping with dinner.

Dinner had just finished when his dad got home. They all sat down at the dinner table and talked about their days while enjoying dinner. It was quite a peaceful moment that would have surely had anyone else happy to have a family to give them company and talk to,

Henry though, just felt bored the whole time. When he was asked about his day he said it was stressful using the excuse that had thought about school that was just around the corner. His parents immediately gave the offer for home-school again.

Due to the fact that Henry was, of course, lying though he rejected. After finishing dinner his parents went to bed while he cleaned up the kitchen. After cleaning the kitchen Henry went back to his room and thought about the day.

He laid on his bed wondering what he would do now that he wouldn't be able to "experiment" on the dog. Would he just wait until the neighbor returned or would he look for something else to experiment on?

He decided he would have to wait as looking for another target would just be too risky. Thinking about this Henry fell to sleep quickly passing by the night. In the blink of an eye, a few weeks had passed and school was back in session.

Henry gazed out the window as his dad drove him to school. He had occasional flashbacks to last year. The only difference between then and now is that there was no snow and his dad was driving instead of his brother. Along with the fact that he seemed to not have the anxiety of course.

Henry began thinking of his brother as he thought about last year. His brother had still not appeared and he had not yet asked about it as he figured he would overhear his parents talking about it or something. As time passed though he got nothing.

Thinking about this Henry finally decided to just ask where his brother was. Having made his decision he turned to his dad before speaking up, "Dad, how come I haven't seen or heard about Alex since I got out of the hospital?" he asked.

Henry could see the shock on his father's face as he was caught off guard by the question. He could also see a hint of pain which seemed to confirm his suspicions that there was probably an argument that got Alex kicked out. "Henry this isn't really the best time to talk about it. Your mom and I will talk about it with you after school ok?" His father told him.

Henry nodded his head thinking that it wasn't that big a deal any way he was just curious. Before long they finally arrived at school. Henry said bye to his father before getting out of the car. As Henry stepped out of the car he saw many familiar and unfamiliar faces.

One of which was Caitlyn. Something seemed to be wrong though as she walked with a slight limp along with having a bruise on her arm that could barely be seen under her long sleeve shirt. He saw Caitlyn look up and make eye contact with him.

He was about to approach her and say something when she immediately turned and walked away as fast as she could. Henry felt slightly upset at this as he thought she was someone he would be able to be friends with at school, not that it really mattered now though anyway.

Henry merely shrugged before going into the school and waiting just as before until classes started. Just as before he browsed the internet on his phone before school finally started and he headed to class. The class schedules had been posted online for the students so he knew which rooms he would need to go to today.

The first half of the day passed by slowly with everyone doing introductions and essentially being forced to be social. This was the time of the year that all the cliques usually formed. Before long lunchtime came and he decided to try and approach Caitlyn once again.

This time she had not noticed him and was sitting alone at a table when he suddenly sat across from her at the same table. Caitlyn was startled as she asked him what he wanted in a quiet voice. Hearing this Henry's heart slightly ached.

This was the voice of someone outcast and bullied by everyone else. The more he thought about it the more he felt his chest aching. Caitlyn was once bubbly and happy despite being slightly given the cold shoulder by other girls nothing had ever affected her like this.

Just as he was thinking about this and was going to try talking to her he heard an all too familiar voice. "The fuck are you doing talking to this motherfucker?!" The student yelled. "Don't you remember what happened last time or are you just too stupid of a bitch?!" Henry glared at the student as he heard this.

"Get away from her she is mine!" The student yelled at him as well as he wrapped his arm around Caitlyn. As he looked at her Henry could very obviously see that Caitlyn was shaking in fear. Henry was already enraged seeing that this piece of shit wasn't behind bars but as he pieced things together with Caitlyn's bruises and the student his rage entered a new threshold.

'Looks like I've finally found a new target.' Henry thought to himself.
