After the happenings of the day, everyone retired to their various rooms for the night.

"Sleep early. We're leaving tomorrow morning." Luciel told her sister.

"Okay. big sister, what happened to you? You seem different now." Mariam said as she examined Luciel.

"Nothing. Don't worry about it."

"If you say so. Good night."

"Good night."

After she made sure that her sister was fast asleep, Luciel left the room and went to the spring where she was awakened. She stood by the lake admiring the beautiful light reflecting on it surface when she felt the presence of someone.

"It's been a long day today. Don't you think so Astraea?"

"My lady. Sorry to intrude," she said while bowing.

'"It's okay. What brings you here? We doubt that you just wanted to enjoy the view"

"You're right," Astraea said

"I did not come here to enjoy the view but question you," she added.

"Question us? Why?" Luciel asked surprised.

"The others might be blinded by the fact that you're the new goddess but not me. I have sworn never to trust humans again."

"Why? Not all humans are the same as you know. Sure, there are bad people but there are also good people too."

"I don't believe you nor will i believe you."

"We know. Trust isn't bought by power but earned."

"I won't be fooled by your sweet talking."

"To be honest, we did not expect to become the goddess or anything at all. We were running away from bandits with our sister when we went through the door. Who would have thought that the place where we played at years ago would actually be a temple? We were quite surprised. What about you? What made you hate humans so much?" Lucie asked her as she sat down on the grass and signaled for Astraea to sit beside her.

"It all happened during the reign of the previous goddess. As always after her awakening, each race sent the various people that were meant to serve her over to the temple but amongst them was a traitor. Life in the temple wasn't too busy or challenging. In fact, it was the best place in the whole wide world. Everyone was treated fairly and equally but as you know it, not all things last forever. Suddenly demons started invading other territories. We were split up in different groups and tasked with the investigation of the demons. Not long after, the first forest spirit received news that the demons were not working alone. they had an inside person. Through the earth spirit, we were able to find out their motive. Someone close to the goddess had promised her to the demon ging as his bride because of her jealousy. As people who served the goddess, we live lives longer than the average person but the moment the goddess dies, her guardians will perish with her. That was something the traitor did not know. Slowly but steadily, the goddess began to fall sick and the barriers began to weaken. We tried our very best but it wasn't enough. One cold winter morning, the goddess disappeared."
