I think what hurts the most is when you give your all to someone. Through thick and thin, you're there for them. You stick with them no matter what. 

Then one day, they just give up. They won't even fight for you. The one thing you would never have done, they did with no hesitation. 

Walking across the room to the door, she raised her foot about to walk out. However, she paused and hesitated. Without turning her around she asked the question that has been on her mind since their separation.

Ying Yue hurriedly left the office before her friend could ask her any more questions. Honestly, she wasn't clear on what happened yesterday. The pain of seeing him for the first time in five years clouded her mind. Did he still love her? No, that's impossible. He was the one who wanted the divorce. 


Ying Yue looked behind her to see a white collared employee walking towards her. She stopped walking and placed a polite smile on her face. "Yes?" 


"I heard you'll be working here from now on," he said upon reaching Ying Yue. 


"Although your Boss doesn't quite agree, yes, I am self-employing myself to be working in this company"


"What to know something that's not complicated?"


He leaned against the wall and stroked a pose. "Liam Chi. Single" 


"Who is Liam Chi?" Ying Yue asked in wonder. 


The man's smile faltered while laughter could be heard from his friends behind him. 


"Oh, sorry you didn't tell me your name at the start so I didn't know"


"Nah it's ok," he said while his smiled lit up once more while gesturing to himself "available, you?" 


"....it's complicated" Ying Yue sighed. Technically, she's single but her heart is taken by someone she can't have. 


"How can it be complicated? Are you going out with someone right now? Yes or no?"


Liam Chi turned around to face the person who yelled out his name, "What is it?"


"Sorry about that," Liam turned back around and apologised, "I was asking you a question, what question did I ask again?" 


A giant grin made its way on Liam's face. "Yes I will"


It took a while for Ying Yue to understand what had happened. Dang it, she had been tricked? 


"Look, Liam Chi. I don't think this is working. Don't misunderstand, it's not you. It's me. But I think we should walk our own paths from now on" Ying Yue stated calmly when her eyes danced with laughter. Liam probably saw the laughter because he didn't look hurt at all when she rejected him. 


"Lady Ying, come on you can't go breaking my heart like this. We just started dating. Since you've travelled the world people have courted you but you never said yes. People believe you want a man from your homeland, I'm a man from your homeland. Is it true that you swing for the other party?" 


"No. A wise king must not seek for war, but he must be prepared for it". Ying Yue stated righteously. 


"...did you just quote the old guy from Thor?" 


Ying Yue grinned, "I thought it would be fitting". 


"Lady Ying, despite others calling you a heartbreaker, I won't give up on you." 


Ying Yue didn't answer, she just smiled politely and left. When others called her a heartbreaker, there was no way they could have known that she had left no heart more broken than the way she had left her own.
