It started with a call

Rui Xing was lazying around in her bedroom, reading a book she got hooked onto. She was addicted to reading books. The book she was currently reading was about how the main character spends her summer at the summer house.

At this second, her phone rang. It was a call from her best friend, Wen Xi. "Hello Rui Xing! Are you free tomorrow night?" Wen Xi asked her excitedly. "What's the plan for tomorrow night?" "I'm having a party at my house! I'll be inviting anyone I know." "Uh I'm not sure if I'm interested to co..come with...with so ma..many people around" Rui Xing stuttered. "It'll be fine! I want to introduce you to my other friends! I promise it will be fun. Don't be such an introvert!" "Fine..." Then Rui Xing hung up the phone.

The only reason she would be going to the party tomorrow night was to not disappoint Wen Xi. She's already rejected 3 invites from Wen Xi whenever she held a party. Rui Xing felt bad for not showing up and supporting her best friend, so this time, she will. She started packing for tomorrow's party, then realized she had no idea what to bring. She's never been to a party before. Rui Xing texted Wen Xi, asking what to bring for tomorrow and she replied saying to bring herself. Rui Xing rolled her eyes. That information was not of much help to her.

In the end, Rui Xing just decided to bring her phone, wallet, and her book, in case she was bored and felt like reading. She then used her phone till around 11.30pm before sleeping.

The next day

Since it was Rui Xing's off day and had nothing to do, she went to the library to check out a few books she's been wanting to read. Happy to have seen the books she wanted, she grabbed the book from the shelf and started reading a bit of the story.

She was so mesmerized and concentrated into reading the book that she didn't know she sat there for 2 hours. She accidentally finished reading the book, when she was only supposed to read the first bit. I guess I don't have to borrow this book now, Rui Xing thought to herself. She then went on the look-out for the other 2 books she wanted to read.

As expected, Rui Xing came home with 5 books and not just 2. By the time she came home, it was already 7.30pm. She was to arrive at the party at 7.45pm. Rui Xing went to her closet and started to ponder. What do people wear to parties? Do they just wear normal clothes? The only thing that came to mind was hoodie and jeans so she took that outfit and wore it.

Rui Xing grabbed her keys and headed to the bus stop, waiting for the bus that took her to Wen Xi's house. In the meanwhile, she started reading her book. As soon as the bus arrived, she boarded the bus. She started to feel nervous, what if someone asks her to do something she doesn't what to do?

She alighted the bus, feeling anxious and scared for what might happen at the party. As Rui Xing reached Wen Xi's house, she awkwardly walked in to look for Wen Xi when someone tapped on her shoulder. It was Wen Xi! "You came!!!" Wen Xi said as she greeted her with a hug. "I want you to meet this person. Rui Xing, meet Shang Ying. Shang Ying, meet Rui Xing." Wen Xi introduced them to each other.

"Hi," Rui Xing said politely. "Hey, Rui Xing right? Didn't we meet before? We went to the same kindergarten." Shang Ying asked casually. "Wow it's been so many years... How could you still remember me?" Rui Xing asked, puzzled and curious to know his reply. "It was because you were the person who sat at the back of the class and did not utter a word on the first day." Shang Ying smiled. And his dimples at the side of his cheeks could be seen, which was kind of cute, Rui Xing thought to herself. "Oh right" Rui Xing scratched her head.

"Okay, I'll leave you guys to chat while I entertain the other guests." Wen Xi said to both of them.
