In 2 days time, it'll be the start of December. Many staff would definitely come to the Ruis and ask for a holiday break. There would be fewer people coming for work at the Veterinarian. If there are only very few people working, the Veterinarian might be closed for the month and they won't be able to save more animals. The animals in the cages of the Veterinarian would be brought home by staff that weren't going on a holiday to be taken care of for the month.
As Rui Xing scrolled through the unread messages she got yesterday, she screamed a 'no!' from her room.
Rui Ning rushed to her room to ask what happened. Rui Xing pouted as she said, "20 of our staff want to take leave for a holiday!"
"What? So many?!" He replied with a shocked expression. "Only 10 took leave for the holiday in June."
"Yeah... Do you think the Veterinarian would be closed for the month?" She asked him frankly.
"Probably, if more of them take holiday leave. We only have 12 staff left, including us," he replied with a sad expression on his face.
"Alright. Let's stop worrying. Whatever happens, we can deal with it," he said to Rui Xing.
As usual, they went downstairs to feed Hana and Cookie before they left for work. They did their usual things and headed off. Reaching the Veterinarian, they went separate ways to do their own work.
Before the Ruis walked out of the Veterinarian, 5 of their staff approached them saying that they'll be taking holiday leave. Rui Xing looked at Rui Ning and shook her head.
"Ok, thanks for informing us. Let either one of us know the dates you'll be away," Rui Ning instructed the 5 of them.
They replied with a 'yes' and went to pack their stuff. Rui Xing looked at Rui Ning and asked, "So, are we really going to be closed for the month?"
"I guess so. I'll inform the Veterinarian group chat and we'll discuss who to take which animal home for the month," He replied, expressionless.
She heard Rui Ning but didn't bother giving him a nod or an answer. They walked towards their car and sat in silence. Rui Ning drove to their parents' house as they were having dinner together.
At the arrival of their parents' house, they were greeted with a warm hug from their parents and they greeted back.
"Ning, Xing, your mother cooked your favourite! She cooked Korean food," the Ruis' father said to them with a fatherly smile.
The Ruis thanked their parents for the delicious smelling meal, called them to eat and began eating (more like gobbled up) the food in front of them. Their mother smiled at the sight of the Ruis enjoying the food that she prepared for them.
Before they left their parents house after eating, the family played a game of UNO. They've been playing this game since the Ruis' were really young. They stopped playing it ever since Rui Xing went to JC [1] and Rui Ning entered University. The Ruis' were really excited to play UNO again.
"Hurry up and shuffle the cards, Dad!" Rui Xing hurried her dad to quickly shuffle the cards as she was too eager to play the game.
"Ok, ok. I'm done... Now, let's start," he replied while giving out the cards.
The first to win was yet again Rui Ning. After all these years, he was still the one to win. The loser was none other than Rui Xing. Rui Xing stared at Rui Ning and complained, "That winning role should be me! You should be the loser." Though, she was already 21, she still acted like a child when she lost a game. Rui Ning stuck out his tongue at her, playing along. Rui Xing noticed the tongue piercing on his tongue but she didn't point it out. Their parents were too busy smiling and laughing at them acting like children that they didn't notice his tongue-piercing.
Afterwards, they waved goodbye to their parents and headed back home. That was when Rui Xing asked Rui Ning, "Hey! Since when did you get a tongue-piercing?"
"Oh no... Did Mom and Dad see?"
"No. They were too busy laughing. Now answer my question!"
"Oh it was 1 year ago when you were overseas studying."
"I see... So Mom and Dad don't know?"
"Yeah... Don't tell them though, Mom will kill me."
She nodded her head and asked, "Should we notify that the Veterinarian will be closed starting 1st December and that we need some staff that aren't going on a vacation to look after some of the animals in cages?"
"Yeah go ahead and inform them."
Rui Xing sent a message to the group chat. There were only 2 cats and 2 dogs in the cages of the Veterinarian. Lin De offered to look after the 2 cats, while Bin Bun offered to look after 2 dogs. The animals were now going to be taken care of and the Ruis wouldn't have to worry about them for the month.
They reached home and Rui Ning decided to bring the dogs for a walk before their meal. Meanwhile, Rui Xing refilled the water bowl and prepared dinner for the dogs for when they come back after their walk.
Rui Xing received a call from Wen Xi.
"Rui Xing! I have good news! Are you free next week?"
"I should be free, what are you up to again?"
"Nothing. Just a holiday! I planned a holiday for you, me, Shang Ying and Li Nang. Li Nang is that person I told you about, the one that bought 12 books from my shop. We became friends!"
"Oh that's great. But I don't-"
Wen Xi cut her off and said,
"Don't you dare reject me first! Just think about it and let me know. I'll send you the itinerary of our trip."
"Alright," Rui Xing said and hung up the phone.
Wen Xi sent her the itinerary. It was a trip to Japan. Wen Xi knew that Rui Xing loved Japan a lot and planned to go to Japan. This girl really knew how to get her to agree to things.
Rui Xing sent Wen Xi an 'ok', showing that she'll come for the trip. Right after she sent that message, she realized she hasn't told Rui Ning that she'll be away next week.
At that moment, Rui Ning walked into the house with Hana and Cookie. As the dogs ate their dinner, Rui Xing told Rui Ning about the trip she'll be going to the following week. He told her to have a good trip and buy back manga for him. Rui Ning didn't disapprove of her going for the holiday as first of all, Rui Ning loves manga and would like Rui Xing to buy some back for him. Secondly, he didn't want her to miss this chance on having a great holiday with her friends.
